  5. Oregon football position breakdown: wideouts emphasize family, connection in loaded room Oregon head football coach Dan Lanning has emphasized four program “DNA traits” throughout his three-year tenure in Eugene, crucial to what he sees as important for a successful program: Connection, growth, toughness and sacrifice. Connection, especially, has been a major point of emphasis for the Ducks in interviews leading up to the season. Though Lanning expects the entire team to be connected, Oregon’s wide receivers and position coach Junior Adams have devised their own way to stay connected as a group. Inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu, which means “I am because we are,” the Ducks are aiming to have the best, and most connected, receiver room in the country. “It’s a family thing that we say,” receiver Tez Johnson said. “We carry ourselves with that every day. It’s not just a word. It’s something that we live by in that room. We hold each guy in that room to that Ubuntu standard. We’re a family. “It’s a loaded room, but together, we’re dangerous. We’re unstoppable, no one can stop us.” Oregon football position breakdown: wideouts emphasize family, connection in loaded room WWW.REGISTERGUARD.COM With the season fast approaching, take a look at the Oregon wide receivers, who are looking to be the most connected group in the country.

  9. K Andrew Boyle On his approach to camp: "As a kicker, you can't be too hung up on any one kick or any one day's performance. It's all just about the next kick, sticking to your process, to your routine. I just take it day by day, kick by kick, and I got trust in myself, trust in my preparation, and just know whatever's going to happen is going to happen." On coming back from injury: "It's been a long process but I feel like I've kept my body in great shape over this time. I had a lot of time to focus on different parts of my game, different ways to prepare myself, so I think it's helped me become more mentally tough and mentally prepared for the season."
  10. Everything Oregon STC Joe Lorig said after the Ducks' eighth fall camp practice The Oregon Ducks' special teams coordinator, Joe Lorig, spoke with the media following the eighth spring practice of fall camp. STC Joe Lorig On Atticus Sappington and his adjustment to being in Eugene: "He's really blended in well, I think it's been a really good fit for him. He's excited to be here, he's brought another level of competition to the room. He's a guy that's experienced, he's been there, I think he was second in the country last year in field goal percentage at 92% so he comes with a pedigree already. He's not just talking about it, he's been about it.'" On his expectations for return teams: "We only have two goals in special teams: own the ball and don't and no penalties. I don't care if we're first in the country in kickoff return as long as we own the football because we have a dynamic offense. If you give our offense the ball between the 20- and 30-yard line, we're going to score a lot of points. We want to eliminate negative plays and we've got to have guys back there that'll make great decisions." On evaluating his punters: When you talk about Luke Dunne and Grant [Meadors], you've got two really, really talented guys. We just looked at the charts last night and it's literally neck and neck. The competition over the simulated game days these next couple weeks is going to be really important how they can handle different types of kicks, pinning guys into their different field locations, handling the pressure, but we do have two really talented punters." 11. DB Jabbar Muhammad On learning the new defensive scheme: "I feel pretty good. I was doing some Zooms before I got here on the playbook, but at the end of the day, football is football. I've been playing a lot of football as you guys know, so it's just different terms and things like that. I just apply the different terms I learned previously into this scheme but I pretty much know it all. I'm moving faster than I was in the spring. I was doing pretty good in the spring with the playbook but it was some stuff that I didn't know, like certain checks. Over the summer, I got with some of the guys and now I feel good with the playbook" On the depth at the cornerback position: "Everybody is talented, everybody is honed in on the playbook, everybody is locked in right now. I'm more surprised at the physicality of fall camp, how everybody is locked in with it. All the corners are taking care of their bodies, they're getting extra film, things like that." On the battles within the secondary during camp: "Its good competition. At the end of the day, we're together, we're bonding every single day. This schedule is crazy so we have no choice but to get to know each other, get around each other, but the competition is good." After a summer of learning Dan Lanning's scheme, Jabbar Muhammad is ready for a big 2024 Jabbar Muhammad doesn’t have multiple seasons to get it all down, though. The Washington cornerback transfer is in Eugene for just one year, and he’s looking to make the most of it. So during the spring and throughout the summer, the elite CB has gone on a crash course to learn everything he can about the playbook and hit the ground running this fall. So far, it sounds like he’s been successful. “I feel pretty good,” Muhammad said on Friday. “I was doing some Zooms before I got here in the spring on the playbook.” Oregon Ducks CB Jabbar Muhammad ready for big season in 2024 DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon Ducks cornerback Jabbar Muhammad is studied up on Dan Lanning’s defense and ready for a big season in 2024.
