  1. Thanks DZC for another great article giving us insight into the upcoming game.

I was thinking we secured a win over Ohio State in Columbus last year, not because Anthony Brown had an amazing game against the Buckeyes.  What he did do was take care of the ball, operate the offense, and get the ball to his playmakers. That's what this year's QB will need to do for Kenny Dillingham, especially against a young Georgia defense.  QB play will be the key factor.

Last year not many teams ran the ball well against Georgia.  This is where it's crucial to establish a strong run game behind an experience OL giving us confidence in setting up the rest of the playbook (though Charles pointed out about the right tackle being a weakness).

The main battle is the Georgia linebackers (mostly younger players), against the Ducks offense, which will most likely be Bo Nix as the starter.  Nix played Georgia multiple times and he didn't have much success against Kirby Smart's defense.  His 2021 stats against Georgia was Cmp-21, Att-38, Pct-55.3, Yds-217, TD-0, Int-1, Rate-98.

This time around, new team with better talent (Oregon's roster is evolving, new culture being established), with this coaching staff (Dan Lanning's familiarity with Georgia) will help make a difference for Nix, and hopefully will keep our Ducks competitive.

The big question is will our Ducks experienced offensive line be able to give him enough time? Will Nix make good decisions? He needs to get the ball to weapons like Seven McGee, Donte Thornton and others.  This will determine whether our Ducks will be competitive through out the game.  I certainly hope so!

    Go Ducks, Fly High!

Great article D&C and I love the optimism of the Duck  fan base. As I've said many times here, I expect this game to be a true contest and, quite frankly, expect the Dawgs to wear the Ducks down in the second half. I like the analysis of the Duck defense. There are definitely some talented players there. As the Dawgs substitute liberally on D throughout the game, the real question in my mind is can the Ducks do the same. If not, fatigue may rule who wins the battle of the defenses on June 3.

As for Andrew Paul, who was generating more buzz in Fall camp than our other very highly rated freshman back, there is little chance he would have seen the field in game 1. The hope was that he might become a meaningful contributor by mid-season.

We are so sorry to hear about Andrew Paul's injury.  Our prayers and thoughts goes out to him for a complete healing/recovery.

  3. Yes agree with Smith72, a great article DazeNConfused.  Reading your article really points to important match ups to look for in this up and coming game.  The talent on this year's defensive team is out-standing!

This is a good article read.  We have less than two weeks before game day.  I believe in what KD will deliver with his scheme and what our defense can produce on the field.  The important question, can our offense stay clean throughout this game?  If so, what a game this will be, win or lose!

There is so much uptick to look forward to with this coaching staff and team.  Looking forward to this season!

Again, thank you DazeNConfused, Charles and others for outstanding articles and post preparing and keeping us apprise what to look forward to this season with our beloved Ducks.  Go Ducks!

In the coming days, every Oregon fan should sit down and set expectations for the season. Confidence is encouraged, but the Ducks have a lot of growing left to do.
