Looks amazing! I wonder what the current indoor facility will become.

This added addition to the above information explains what the new indoor facility will be used for.  This is going to be an amazing facility!  "The write up only says the new project is intended primarily for football, but will benefit student athletes in almost all sports by providing additional access to the Moshofsky Center."

Looking everywhere for pics of what Hayward looks like with 25,000 seats...basically doubling to meet the world standard.  Doesn't look like it will fit very well in the north end, curious if anyone has any pics or renditions, I've searched the web and came up blank.  Wish I could just go, what a cool event.  Can't imaging traffic and hotels in Eugene right now.  I've been working in Alaska, hotels in Fairbanks are often in the $600/night range, endless tourists.

Hi JDuck.  Not sure if this is helpful, but this is the ticket seating for the big event.  Compare the two images.  You can see where the extra seating is at. They seems to be able to add a lot of seating on the one side, but not sure how many seats that really is.  But from what Haywarduck's picture and what mine is showing, they can certainly hold up to 30,000 seats.

So, FoxSports, CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports all have stories about Spencer Webb, but ESPN doesn't.  They reported about Utah's players death the same day he was shot in September

ESPN finally reported Spencer's death today around 12;30pm

Oregon tight end Spencer Webb, 22, died after striking his head in a fall near Triangle Lake, a location popular for cliff jumping and natural rock waterslides.

  4. "It seems ESPN has emerged as the most likely bidder for Pac-12 media rights.  Evidently ESPN is the conference's most intriguing lifeline.  Even if the Pac-12 and ESPN reach an agreement before the end of the 30-day window, they will still have to wait for Fox to either bid or waive rights."

Canzano wonders with the loss of the LA market and the 10 schools funds might be around $30 million per school, if there could be some new and creative ways to recoup the $11.6 million loss per school.

Again, hopefully GK could make it up with other streaming entities?

Ducks have size, speed and a wily veteran at receiver, three intriguing running backs and several tight end options.

What is important is to help with speed, beside the opportunity the offensive and defensive schemes will create, is the hiring of Jarwarski Beckum as our new director of speed and performance.

I know this was mentioned on another thread, but I included it again in here just in case you have not read it.  It's worth reading.  It speaks on the importance of how Wilson Love and other strength and conditioning coaches are approaching each position group needs as well as each individual athlete's needs within those position groups.

S&C coaching team are assign to different position groups specializing specifically to those position group and individual athlete's needs.  Nothing is cookie cutter.  This is such an important intricate part in helping to physically, emotionally and mentally prepare this team to play up to their potential.

Each S&C coach has a role to play on game day as well.  Not just to keep coaches and players in line. 😉

Just as Clemson did when they rose from the ashes of losing to dominate their conference and go on to Playoffs and 'Nattys.

What I worry about is...to compete with B1G/SEC programs in football, more of the budget pie at Oregon will need to go to football and thus sports will have to be cut.  I know I've said this before, and I guess I am just trying to get used to the idea.

If Oregon is going to be the face of the Pac12 as the anchor, maybe negotiation for a bigger cut of the pie is warranted.   Though I am sure that will go over like a thud with the other 9 schools.

If you put this together with the Canzano article...it would seem that the upcoming announcement in the above article would give support to ESPN, and assure that evil channel, that yes--we intend to stick together and thus you can put together a good package for us.

Or would the announcement be for other entities?  The streaming services?

My hope is other entities/streaming services are in play, not just ESPN-evil channel is in play.  Love your sentiment!

What worries me is ESPN's proclivity for scheduling PAC games at night. I hate night games, I hate the "PAC-12 After Dark" motto, as I've always felt it was more like "PAC12, Afterthought."

But I will cross my fingers that somehow something good will come of this.

I agree Annie.  I too do not like PAC12 After Dark.  I do not want to go back to that with the new negotiations.  I am hoping Oregon as well as others will say a big NO on this.  But, not sure what clout Pac 12 has in these negotiations since Pac 12 is in a weaken state.

    • Thompson negotiated dozens of these kinds of deals with a variety of conferences in his career. He said that ESPN may decide to make a shrewd offer to the Pac-12, knowing that it if it’s rejected, the conference is likely to fall apart and have a handful of members end up with the Big 12. “ESPN,” he said, “can then go after those rights buoyed by the fact that they have $$$ in their pocket that they didn't pay the Pac 12.

For me, it is a article that tortures me with the possibilities, because ESPN could save the Pac-10, or destroy it.  The thought that we are in ESPN's hands....our destiny is tied to their decisions and working with them makes me ill.

I agree!  It does bother me that ESPN is the only one in this 30-day negotiation window that Pac-12 is talking with.  I wish there was more entities at play during this period where ESPN is not holding all the cards.

  10. "ESPN is in an exclusive, 30-day negotiating window with the conference right now.  Canzano believe that explains why we've had a lull when it comes to realignment news.  The conference members are waiting to see what kind of offer the Pac 12 will get."

According to what Canzano source (Thompson) said, "ESPN needs Pac 12 more than anybody and will likely pay more than anyone else.  Interesting that ESPN, according to Thompson, likes the West Coast window for football and basketball inventory.  They might be  willing to make something out of the Pac 12 network and need content for ESPN+."

Some more interesting information from Thompson as well as other info in this article worth reading.

  11. Evidently they really don't realize they did not get in due to their so called blue blood status, but only due to their school is in the LA market area.  If Oregon was in the LA market area BIG 10 would have invited Oregon.

They don't want to admit it, but they are very jealous of Oregon's success especially right in their own backyard in recruiting. Oh yeah, their so called blue blood sign is very tarnished and faded for the past 13 years due to their worthlessness.

  12. As the old saying goes, "All Quiet on the Western Front."  At least for the weekend that is.  🤪

"One conference AD said telling their coaches don't believe everything you read.  They're doing their best to stabilize the conference and make moves to make the conference sustainable."

"Oregon, Stanford and Washington are viewed as the most attractive potential candidates as additions to the Big Ten or SEC.  But as we all know have not been formally invited.  Respective media-revenue numbers don't come close to penciling out without Notre Dame involved."

As we know it's the waiting game with Notre Dame.  But, "the remaining 10 members of the conference feel that the dialogue has been candid, productive and forward thinking --- the numbers point to the remaining 10 sticking together."

It's all pretty crazy. How do you discern fact from fiction? Hopefully we can change the subject soon.

Thank you Log Haulin for this article.  You read so many different realignment contradictions and takeovers makes your head swim.  It's like no matter what you do your doomed!

The only survival option is to be invited by either the BIG or SEC.  All other options are out the door and doomed to secede.

Even though Oregon's viewership and national brand is flourishing, but because Oregon is in a local media market of 21 and geographically does not fit you might not get invited to join.

it's hard to believe that you can't take the remaining schools from the ACC, PAC and Big 12 that does not have enough media market clout to form another great conference.

My hope is those involved with the decision making at Oregon (glad Phil Knight is involved) to make the best possible decision that will make Oregon continue to be successful and flourish in the next coming changes and landscape of college football!

I Still don't know how the likes of basketball, track and field, baseball, softball, etc. will endure the grueling schedule when geographically and culturally speaking is not a good fit.

    I love my Ducks!

This sounds like ESPN and Fox trying to keep one or both conferences from getting a decent tv deal with the likes of Amazon, Apple, CBS Paramount, NBC Peacock and others interested in getting into College Sports which would keep them from driving the price up

I know this all been talked about and maybe I am naive, but what about merging the best of the Big12/Pac12 and create a partnership with The ACC?  Bring together the strongest partnership possible to try and create a strong conference.

Like you said, bid out to the likes of Amazon, Apple CBS, NBC, etc. along with ESPN and or Fox.  Try to generate the best possible highest media rights.

I think the 3 conferences need to come together to stop the bleeding and forge the best possible scenario. There are good teams with good media markets that could work with a newly forged partnership.

  15. Question and Answer segment:

Interesting that Boise outperforms all other Mountain West schools when it comes to viewership.  Which comes to the question, just because a school is in a high market media area does not mean they get better viewership than a school that's not.

Comes to mind, our Beloved Ducks and the following fan base and nationwide viewership.  Yes, locally we are consider in a smaller media market, but we out perform other schools in bigger markets.
