The Oregon Ducks have been off to a hot start on the 2025 recruiting trail, sitting with one of the top classes in the nation and coming off of a couple-weekend stretch where they hosted some of the most coveted players in the nation.

One of the players that visited — 4-star EDGE Nasir Wyatt — is really starting to trend Oregon’s way. The blue-chip defender from Mater Dei down in California has been projected to land with the Ducks, with a few 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions coming in earlier this month from Steve Wiltfong, Brandon Huffman, and Greg Biggins. On Wednesday, 247Sports analyst Tom Loy also put in a prediction for Wyatt, the No. 2 EDGE and No. 27 player in the 2025 class, to choose Oregon.

Loy also placed another Crystal Ball prediction on Wednesday, saying that 4-star safety Jadyn Hudson is likely to commit to the Oregon Ducks as well. Hudson is rated as the No. 8 safety and No. 96 overall player in the class.

At the moment, Oregon has the No. 11 class in the 2025 cycle, but if they could add both of these players, Dan Lanning would be well on his way to securing another top-5 ranked class this year.

He did make a mistake as far as Oregon's 2023 win record.  Was 12 win season unless he's not counting the bowl game.

It’s a new era of college football, and the transfer portal, NIL and conference realignment have forced the nation’s premier coaches to adapt. Coach rankings for the 2024 season have the usual suspects at the top, but who will reign supreme five seasons from now? National recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna weighed in recently on the Football Recruiting Podcast.

Several factors went into these rankings. Petagna looked at the coaches with the most noticeable momentum coming out of the current season and whether they’re poised to build off it thanks to strong results on the recruiting trail. The program leaders best adapted to NIL and the transfer portal found their way into the rankings. Age was also a big factor and kept guys like Brian Kelly, Willie Fritz and Mike Gundy from making the cut.

Petagna saw value in several other coaches who didn’t make his top five, including Hugh Freeze (Auburn) and Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss), who barely missed the cut. He also shouted out Kalen DeBoer (Alabama), Marcus Freeman (Notre Dame) and Eli Drinkwitz (Missouri).

Here are college football’s top five coaches five years from now:

This is behind a paywall, but I could see this portion of it.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball is a tool recruiting analysts use to show exactly where a recruit might end up. On Wednesday, a new prediction went in regarding a top target potentially landing with the Oregon Ducks.

As it stands today, I believe Oregon is the team to beat for Pittsburg (Calif.) high school four-star safety Jadyn Hudson. My Crystal Ball is on the Ducks.

Over the weekend, I was in Las Vegas for “The Next Ones” event presented by Nike Football. I was able to sit down and talk with Hudson for a few minutes. My biggest takeaway was that head coach Dan Lanning, his stability, the fact that he chose to stay in Eugene instead of leaving for Alabama, is the driving factor here.

The 6-2, 175-pounder loves the Ducks and is fired up about a potential future there, but knowing that Lanning is not likely to leave anytime soon is really hitting home for Hudson. Ohio State and Tennessee are the two heavy-hitters also in play, but it’s tough to see the Ducks missing on the West Coast standout.

Ducks among top teams in the nation according to ESPN's 2024 SP+

The offseason is often spent with various outlets putting out their preseason rankings based on movement across the sport and new-look rosters entering spring football. Different metrics are used, from eye test to returning production to FPI.

One of the most well-respected metrics, though, is ESPN’s SP+, which is a rating system that combines several factors: Returning Production, Recent Recruiting, and Recent History.

Here is how ESPN’s Bill Connelly explains it:

    DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM

The Oregon Ducks stand as one of the top-ranked teams in the nation according to ESPN’s 2024 preseason SP+ ratings.

  6. I guess I am partial, but they're missing some of Oregon's other position groups that could possibly make this list.

Who are college football's most talented teams in 2024 and which rosters added impactful players? In the first sweetheart rankings at 247Sports, circle various additions and position groups across the top 25 that are worthy of love heading into spring practice.

College football staffs which haven't yet started spring drills are combing over their rosters, trying to put together a malleable two-deep coming out of National Signing Day. Newcomers bring a renewed sense of optimism and if they're talented, engage in immediate position battles for reps, which is exactly what coaches want to see this time of year.

There are several gems which haven't yet arrived to the dance who are sure to steal a valentine or two when it comes to offseason hype.

Roses are red, violets are blue — it's time to dive into college football rosters in 2024 that are perfect for you:

The 10 schools leaving the Pac-12 likely will still play in Pac-12 affiliated bowls the next two seasons and not in bowl tie-ins with their new conferences, sources told Action Network.

The former Pac-12 schools are not expected to play in bowls with their new conferences for multiple reasons, conference and bowl sources told Action Network.

The contracts between the conferences and the bowls don’t end until after the 2025 season. With only Oregon State and Washington State remaining in the Pac-12 in 2024, the six bowls with Pac-12 ties could not be filled without drawing from other conferences.

Because of the mass exodus of Pac-12 schools, all the stakeholders involved are seeking a temporary solution until the new bowl contracts begin in 2026, sources said.

“Out of a series of not-great options, the most workable — short of blowing up the bowl system and the (35 non-playoff) bowl contracts — is to have the former Pac-12 schools sent to Pac-12 bowls for two more years,” a source said.

Oregon lands on final list for elite DL, key Big Ten target out of Pennsylvania

Oregon is still in the mix for a major defensive prospect in Maxwell Roy, one of the top defensive linemen in the country and a key Big Ten target from Pennsylvania for the 2025 recruiting class.

On Wednesday, Roy released his top six list with a B1G-heavy group featuring Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Rutgers and the Big Ten-bound Ducks. The Duke Blue Devils out of the ACC are the other program included.

Roy is listed at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds out of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia:

Oregon makes the Top 15 for 5-star DL Jahkeem Stewart

Oregon is a member of the 15-team list of finalists for a five-star defensive lineman.

The Oregon Ducks have made the cut for one of the nation's top overall prospects in the 2026 class. Defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart shared that he was down to 15 schools on his social media channels and would focus his attention on those programs only. Stewart will be considering college programs from across the country as he is set to become one of the most highly sought-after recruits in the 2026 recruiting class for college football.

Remember, this is just for fun.  Even though, cough cough "click bait"🙄 is not happening here.  Projected number of teams per conference:

    4 Big Ten

    4 SEC

    Notre Dame

    1 ACC

    1 Big 12

    1 Group of 5

Why release my never-too-early 2024 bowl projections in February, while several critical details impacting the bowl system are still pending? For example, where will former Pac-12 teams be placed, or how many automatic conference championship bids will be included in the new 12-team playoff?

Some skeptics and conspiracy theorists will claim this is all a ploy to get clicks — "EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Taylor and Travis abducted by UFO after Super Bowl party." Google, are you seeing this!? "Taylor and Travis engaged! Pregnant?!?"

I, for one, am offended by those baseless accusations. This is simply continuing a tradition like no other — "Tiger Woods joins LIV Tour for $5 gazillion" — here at Action Network in providing the best bowl projections on the planet, no matter what month it is. #TAYLORSWIFT #SUPERBOWL #ENDOFWORLD

This season marks the debut of the 12-team playoff, as chosen by the College Football Playoff selection committee. The Cliff Notes version: the five highest-ranked conference champions — regardless of ranking — receive an automatic bid to the playoff with the final spots going to the remaining seven highest-ranked teams.

The four highest-ranked conference champions receive byes into the quarterfinals and will be seeded Nos. 1-4 regardless of their ranking (yes, even if they're “ranked” No. 3, 5, 12 and 24.)

Onto my never-too-early 2024 bowl projections, along with the projected point spread of each matchup from Action Network senior writer Collin Wilson’s power betting ratings.

How quickly will the Oregon Ducks find success in the Big Ten?

The entire landscape of college football will look different in 2024, with new teams in different conferences and an expanded College Football Playoff at the end of the year. For the Oregon Ducks, a move to the Big Ten Conference will have us enthralled as we try to figure out where they stand among their new foes, and how quickly they will be able to find success in the new landscape.

This past week on the Sco-ing Long Podcast, I had the pleasure of talking to Dan Rubenstein, a well-respected football voice who is the co-host of the Solid Verbal College Football podcast. Though Rubenstein is an Oregon alum, he watches the sport through a national scope, and he is well-equipped to inform unsuspecting Duck fans of what they should expect in the new conference.

Oregon Football will have its highest expectations in a decade in 2024 | Oregon Ducks Podcast

Oregon has had a very successful offseason adding quality pieces from the transfer portal whilst getting key returners on both sides of the ball. The preseason expectations going into the Big 10 are going to be as high in Eugene and nationally as they've ever been. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin examines the continued hype train around Oregon's 2024 season.

With 5-star WR transfer Evan Stewart on offense, what does that mean for former 5-star Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey in his second season? Spencer also takes a look at 5-star DE/EDGE Elijah Rushing in the 2024 recruiting cycle and how he could project into the rotation this Fall. Plus, Men's Basketball takes more injury news that hamper their NCAA Tournament hopes.

    All about the Nebraska Cornhuskers:

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are one of the Big Ten Conference’s newer members, but their football tradition long predates their change in conference affiliation. A one-time powerhouse on the gridiron is still searching for consistent success this century, but Nebraska’s volleyball team has more than taken up the mantle — and packed the football stadium, too.

This group really did not do their due diligence on Oregon.  As far as they are concerned, nothing good will come from the Pac-12  🤔Hmm, tell me again what has Nebraska done since they've joined?  Shall we say goose egg?

The future of the Pac-12 is perilous at best, but the conference will reportedly have a new commissioner moving forward.

According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the Pac-12 and commissioner George Kliavkoff decided to part ways with a negotiated contract settlement. Dellenger noted the league sees Pac-12 deputy commissioner Teresa Gould as a potential replacement.

This comes as anything but a surprise considering the uncertainty and change that has defined Kliavkoff's tenure since he was announced as commissioner in 2021.
