  1. I can't remember the last time a school changed conferences after a leak to the media.  I don't expect anything different now.

It is silly for any school to leave before they know what they are losing.  Big 12 is getting 31.7 million with 12 teams in 2024.  Do we expect their TV deals to increase 63.4 million by adding Colorado and other unnamed school?

How hilarious would it be if the schools left and the PAC had a bigger payout.

  2. I'd like to know what the formula was in deciding.  Is Miami really the best in the ACC?  Wisconsin the best in the B1G?  Appalachian St. for the Sun Belt?  They have only been in the Sun Belt since 2016.

I'd say the person literally threw darts to pick schools.

Saturday Night Live: Star-studded guest list expected this weekend in Eugene

Things are about to get busy for Dan Lanning in Eugene.

The unofficial start to the fall season begins next Monday with the Oregon Ducks media day, followed by the beginning of fall practices on Wednesday, August 2.

Before that, the Ducks will be hosting a long list of top-rated players in the recruiting world, with players from the 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes. The purpose is to evaluate the player skills and start to build relationships going forward.

While the list will continue to evolve over the next several days, here are the players who we have confirmed will be in Eugene for Saturday Night Live this weekend.

One of Oregon’s biggest recruiting weekends of the year is coming this weekend. Check out the guest list for Saturday Night Live.

  4. Boise State is terrible at sports outside of football.  They have 2 national titles.  1958 Junior College football.  1980 I-AA football.  If the idea is to enhance the PAC, there is no reason to invite BSU, even though they do fit into the PAC footprint.

Football absolutely wags the dog, but you can't bring in a university for only football.  They do have a very loyal fanbase, but do you really see them growing exponentially?  They don't have Nike and they don't have an exciting offense.

    I wouldn't add FSU either.

ASU = Phoenix 5th largest city

SMU = Dallas 9th largest city

    SDSU = 8th largest city

Colorado = Denver 19th largest city

Fresno St. = 34th largest city

Boise St. = 94th largest city

They don’t get the deserved glamour or glory, but they’re as important as any position on the field. Here are the top offensive linemen to know in the Pac-12 this season.

In this article, I examine 10 offensive linemen who I think will have the most impact on their respective teams in 2023. Some have been shutting down pass-rushers for years, while others are young and have just shown flashes of what they can do. They are in my opinion, the 10 most important offensive linemen to know in the Pac-12 for the 2023 season.

There aren’t a ton of stats for the offensive line, at least not basic ones or ones that are readily available. With an absence of statistics, I chose to use a few other metrics to determine the linemen to be highlighted in this article. Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades nearly every position in college football including offensive line, which was something I took into account. I also examined former All-Pac-12 team selections as well as 2023 preseason All-Pac-12 team selections when constructing this list.

  6. Stephen Curry has competed in the 3 point contest in: 2009-10, 12-13, 13-14, 14-15, 15-16, 18-19 and 20-21.

    His best rounds were:

    31/40 in 2021

    27/34 in 2015

    27/34 in 2019

    His best final round was:

    28/40 in 2021

    27/34 in 2015

    24/34 in 2019

    23/34 in 2016

His most consecutive shots made was 13.

Sabrina went 37/40 with 20 consecutive makes in the final round.

Sabrina doesn't need to do anything, she already did it.  Steph had 7 chances to do what Sabrina did.  He can try the 3 point contest next NBA all-star game in 2024.

  7. Deion Sanders has always been about himself since his playing days.  He hasn't changed when he became a coach.  Dismissing a player in front of the team is him being a bully and him grandstanding for the camera.

I'm no way convinced Deion is a good coach yet.  He had many D1 players playing against FCS teams.  You only need a few dominate players and you are going to win your games.

Jackson State played one of the easiest schedules in FCS last year.  They played exactly 3 teams with winning records and lost vs the team that was ranked closest to them.  They played Southern twice.

    Team                               Record               Ranking

    Jackson State 11-1 156
    Florida A&M 9-2 190
    Tennessee St. 4-7 204
    Grambling 3-8 240
    Mississippi Valley St. 2-9 251
    Alabama St. 6-5 224
    Bethune-Cookman 2-9 245
    Campbell 5-6 183
    Southern 7-5 200
    Texas Southern 5-6 220
    Alabama A&M 4-7 231
    Alcorn St. 5-6 207
    Southern 7-5 200
    North Carolina Central 10-2 175

Deion could be a good coach, but he will need to prove it over a long period of time.

  8. I have no idea what any contract looks like, but they are supposed to be 100% separate from schools.  If that truly happens or not is another story.  However, I am guessing they are year to year, so if you get a NIL deal while playing for UCLA, I'm guessing if you transfer to Oregon the next year, that NIL deal will not be renewed.

I don't know the percentage of players getting new NIL deals with their new schools, but I'm guessing if you were getting one at your old school, you will be getting one at your new school.  I don't think any player is going to be missing out by transferring.

  9. WWW.YARDBARKER.COM

On July 3, Nike signed an NIL deal with track star Mia Brahe-Pedersen. On one hand, the deal was historic, marking the first time a high school track athlete signed a deal with Nike.

Mia Brahe-Pedersen is heading into her junior year of high school and is the No. 1 high school track recruit in the country out of Lake Oswego, Oregon. The 5-foot-9 sprinter has set records in the 100 meters (11.00 seconds) and 200 meters (22.43 seconds) and won multiple national championships.

Hopefully, Oregon has been recruiting her as well.

  10. A quick Google search.

Streaming Subscriptions worldwide and streaming share percentages

    Netflix                  232.5 million,  27.3%

    Amazon Prime    161.7 million,  24.3%

    Disney/ESPN+    157.8 million, 18.2%

    HBO                    96.1 million,   7%

    Apple TV             25.0 million,   6.2%

Looks like I would prefer to have Amazon and ESPN+ be our streaming partners, but if Apple is going to pay more I won't complain too much.

  11. I didn't think MLS could make money by going strictly to Apple TV streaming, but apparently they are off to a good start.  Still early in the contract and season, so we shall see if it sticks.  Good news if the PAC becomes the first P5 league to be heavy into streaming.

    AWFULANNOUNCING.COM

According to a new report, MLS and Apple are about to close in on an important marker on the road to Season Pass success.

“MLS sources confirmed the league is nearing Apple’s required subscription threshold that kick-starts an agreement for the company to share subscription revenue with MLS,” wrote Evans. “The league’s players, per terms of the new CBA, would also receive 12.5% of the increase in media revenue this year if the amount exceeds $100 million of the 2022 media compensation, which was about $65 million when excluding fees paid to the USMNT.”
