NJDuck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted February 13 The future of the Pac-12 is perilous at best, but the conference will reportedly have a new commissioner moving forward. According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the Pac-12 and commissioner George Kliavkoff decided to part ways with a negotiated contract settlement. Dellenger noted the league sees Pac-12 deputy commissioner Teresa Gould as a potential replacement. This comes as anything but a surprise considering the uncertainty and change that has defined Kliavkoff's tenure since he was announced as commissioner in 2021. OregonDucks No. 8 Share Posted February 14 Kliavkoff should get his share of the blame for the collapse of the PAC-12 conference: • Being blindsided by the exit of the LA schools • Failing to understand the true value of the Pac12 media rights without the LA schools • Turning down ESPN’s initial TV deal of $30M+ per school with a linear broadcasting component (see point above) • Lack of transparency for the remaining schools during the media negotiations and failing to understand the member schools needs (e.g., a need for linear broadcast exposure) • Not expanding aggressively right after the LA schools left the conference (SDSU would have been a no brainer)
