Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted August 31 Below is from a John Canzano article today, and I could not help but laugh... --------------------------------------------------------------------- • There’s an interesting Sunday deadline looming for the Pac-12 and Mountain West. The two conferences have a mutual option to continue their scheduling partnership in 2025 or go in separate directions. • I wonder if the Pac-12 will kick the can a few more weeks down the road and try to get some higher-profile games (Read: ACC and Big 12) for 2025. • Oregon State AD Scott Barnes told me at the start of the week: “We continue to explore all options including the MWC.” That echoed WSU President Kirk Schulz, who offered: “We continue to work to get this done.” • I talked with a few Mountain West athletic directors this week. They’ve offered input to their university presidents and Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. The ADs are waiting to hear what happens. Oregon State and Washington State are paying the MWC $14 million to play the crossover football games this season. One AD told me he was concerned that continuing to play Oregon State and Washington State in 2025 might negatively impact an MWC program’s record and could torpedo bowl eligibility. Said the AD: “It’s more money, but those are games that schools in our conference would expect to lose more often than not.” ------------------------------------------------------------------- So, for the Power-4 conferences....the Pig-2 are not good enough, but for the Mountain West--they are too good? Seems like these two piggies can't find the porridge that is just right. You gotta feel sorry for them... (Right?) 3 1 Mr. FishDuck
JabbaNoBargain No. 2 Share Posted August 31 (edited) For sure. They really don’t have to anything offer with the PAC banner other than an attempt to assert themselves as “in charge” to anyone that might consider joining. They really are giving off a vibe of it being “their” conference. Why would anyone want to join? In turn, specifically with the MWC, how could this not rub them the wrong way if the PIG2 eventually “lower” themselves to joining the MWC? What do they really bring to the table? I think for the piggies, it’s BIG12 or bust at this point in time as the ACC is not going to be adding anyone anytime soon…subject to change if the PIG2 finally realize they should have joined the MWC immediately. In a couple of years, WSU and OSU will fit right in the Mountain West. I would be shocked if the ACC or Big-12 decides to add these schools. They are reportedly trying to strong arm ESPN to get them in but I doubt that their potential lawsuit has any merit. 1 1
Steven A Moderator No. 4 Share Posted August 31 It's simple, they are not power conference worthy period end of story. The only way they were able to compete in the Pac was due to the handouts they received as equal share partners. The Big 12 and ACC would be smart not to send out save-the-date notices. 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 5 Share Posted August 31 GREED on display! The money the Pac-2 purloined from the Pac-10 dimwits means more to the Beavers and Cougars than does the opportunity to compete for a conference title. The idea that these two nonentities will rebuild the Pac-12 is a long con that folks like butt-kissing Canzano buy into. The two paid millions for MW game inventory and in the process, agreed to an extra $10M for every MW team they poach. This is how you rebuild the Pac-12? OBD is stuck playing these Sons of Beavers for the next two seasons but that's enough! PUNISH THE POTATO PICKERS! 1
Charles Fischer Author Administrator No. 6 Share Posted August 31 I agree, they will slide down to MWC level, but may still be on the outside? Can you say WAC? 1 Mr. FishDuck

HDuck No. 11 Share Posted August 31 Interesting piece in The Athletic today about Big12. Still interested in UConn, and reasons why they are. But, no conjecture about WSU/OS. None. Zip. Nada.

But for the life of me I can't put it into words. I just went through a weekend where Oregon was on a television program I didn't have to as Miss Cleo's ghost where to find it. The B1G had a game on just about every network, the B1G Network is ran so professionally. The studio is fresh and every team was highlighted. Meanwhile I don't know where Beavis or the Apple were being broadcast on.
