OregonDucks No. 2 Share Posted September 2 (edited) I thought Oregon’s defense played really well against Idaho with the exception of the two scoring drives (one was on a trick play). Oregon’s defensive line wrecked havoc and should be the strength of the team this year. Boise State will test our rushing defense. I’m much more concerned with Oregon’s offense, especially the offensive line. Edited September 2 by OregonDucks

I agree the defense was good against Idaho. But it was Idaho. The O-Line was the biggest problem, and the offense won't score 24 against any of the teams left on the schedule if it performs like that again. Idaho struggled to get to midfield if they had to drive the entire thing.

I thought it was off a failed 4th down conversation or a fumble. I guess I'm blanking on parts of the game because the whole thing was so awful.
kirklandduck Moderator No. 9 Share Posted September 3 Until the OL figures things out, opposing defenses are going to try and stack the box like Idaho did to stop the run. I surmise that it's going to take more than a week to fix the OL so Will Stein will need to adjust his plans. For me it's simple: let DG pull the ball and run. Force the opposing defense to take into account the QB and they'll end up thinning out the middle, allowing at least some chance for the OL to open some holes for the RBs. Then that opens up the passing game. Obviously he doesn't need to do this a whole bunch of times but letting DG be what he is (a dual threat QB) will open things up IMO. He just needs to do it a handful of times sprinkled throughout the game for 10 yards to make defenses think twice about crowding the middle.
