Who Ya Got for Coach of the Year?

Recommended Posts

Cignetti I can understand, but Sanders?

There's a coach in the B1G, his team is No.1. He's doing a pretty good job.

Several college football teams, notably the Indiana Hoosiers and the Colorado Buffaloes, have surprised with their performances this season. Both of their head coaches, Deion Sanders and Curt Cignetti, are thought to be the front runners for Coach of the Year honors.

I want to say give it to Dan Lanning.

But ... But I doubt it. It feels more like the narrative is that Lanning is meeting expectations where this award goes to exceeding them.

I'd say Cignetti is a front runner for sure. However, he doesn't have a ranked win yet so I think for him to secure it he'll need one and only Ohio State is left for that most likely.

Otherwise I think the Vandy HC is a good candidate. Taking down Bama, giving a massive scare to Texas and just turning that program around from SEC free win into a scary place to play.

But it'll probably go to TAMU's HC. I can't remember his name either. Because.. SEC team with a better record.

"Who is this, LANNING, you speak of?"

"Can't be associated with any big time program, can he?"

Cignetti does fit the profile, but, and perhaps why they're down in the rankings, Indiana hasn't played anybody, but should be ranked higher than BYU, Iowa State and Ohio State. Still, Vandy, A & M, BYU, Iowa State > Prime. Lanning should get it but agree why he probably won't.

I may have to take up smoking? It's Cig's to lose.

OTHERS - BYU - Kalani Sitake, TX A+M - Mike Elko, Iowa State - Matt Campball, Vandy - Clark Lea. Army - Jeff Monken if Army doesn't s(t)ink like Navy against Notre Dame.

SMH. Notre Dame 83-13-1 vs Navy. Moves up 4 spots because it housed a G5 opponent? FOUR G5 opponents for The Irish in 2024 - No. 8 😒ND is now 1-2 vs the G5.

Danno the Manno!

Mutilate Michigan!

Is there an NCAA rule that a coach's bonus can't go over $150 per bonus?

Coach Prime just earned $150K for 6 wins and $150K for bowl eligibility?

At this juncture Cignetti is a no-brainer.

That said, their schedule gets tougher with Michigan (still no pushover, ask Smitty) then a trip to the Shoe.  They make the B1G Championship game it's a done deal win or lose IMHO.

I understand the support for Cignetti, and the precept of COY being exceeding expectations. The number one expectation is that the coach should win games, Cignetti and Lanning are both 8-0. Who have they beaten, Lanning, 3 top 25 teams, Cignetti-0.   Cignetti should get a raise; Lanning should get COY.

At this point in the season it is Cignetti.

I think by the end of the season it will be Elko.

I watched the second half of A&M vs. LSU, and the QB they put in is the second coming of Dennis Dixon. He absolutely carved up LSU by land and by air.

A&M is now in the driver's seat for the SEC championship game, and a playoff spot, despite being ranked below Tennessee.

And Georgia.

The SEC is in absolute chaos in terms of the contenders for the CCG.

B1G and ACC aren't far behind.

In short Super Conferences are kinda dumb.

Cignetti is 8-0 at the 'Losingist School' in all of college football. Indiana is at the top of CFB in games lost. 1st and only Rose Bowl was in 1967, last time the Hoosiers were 8-0.  Indy lost to USC. 😒

Indy's preseason Over/ Under was 5.5. In the conference preseason poll, Indiana came in 17 out of 18 B1G teams. As Cignetti noted, the last two teams he head coached picked to finish next to last won championships. This Indiana team has not been behind in 8 games. It embarrassed a Nebraska team that hung with Ohio State. The opponents may not be all that but Indy is destroying the opposition.

It's OK. Saint Nick won titles, not COY awards. Danno, go forth and do the same.

Can Oregon Ducks' Dan Lanning Win Coach Of The Year Over Indiana's Curt Cignetti?

Is Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning a contender for national coach of the year? Indiana Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti and Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders are making their case as well.

It’s that time of the year in college football, and the Oregon Ducks are the No. 1 team in the country. The playoff picture is taking shape, contenders for indi
