EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 2 Share Posted October 28 Alex hit the key salient goals for Oregon to leave the Big House with the W. Although the Wolverines have a lame passing game, they will undoubtedly have some air wrinkles as they cannot afford to have OBD load the box behind Harmon, Caldwell, Tuioti and MatayoU. The edge will need to be held, gaps maintained, with solid man or zone DB discipline and any misdirection appropriately read to limit anything through the air. A bit like Illinois but with a better defense, Michigan isn't built to come back from two touchdowns down. A fast start by Oregon could put the game away by the half. This is a contest where the 3rd quarter offensive issues could be a problem if the O sputters early or if there are turnovers. I don't expect that as Oregon's talent edge is big enough to stay at least one score ahead of what Michigan can recover from. 1
HappyToBeADuck No. 3 Share Posted October 28 Michigan will do there best to shorten the game and limit the opportunities and possessions the Ducks have. The Ducks need to score points on as many possessions as possible. Play clean, protect DG and blow the Wolverines out by halftime. Take the crowd out of the game esrly. Fotce Michigan to play catch up all day. The longer the Ducks allow Michigan to hang around it opens the door for an upset. Only Oregon can beat Oregpn......
30Duck No. 4 Share Posted October 28 This another game, when either Oregon wins the toss or not, starting with the ball is good. Get it, take it down the field and go up, 7-0. Nessler & Danielson will say, "Oregon did that against Illinois last week". then dispatch Michigan, get the ball back and do it again. By this time, N & D will have brought up how different Michigan is without Harbaugh. Too help fill time, N & D will talk about the last time Oregon came to the "Big House" as the Duck's lead becomes insurmountable with a touchdown in the 3rd quarter. A pick-6 would be fun but that's a lot to ask for against Michigan. 1
Duckhart2 No. 5 Share Posted October 28 Scoring in the third qtr will go along ways to beating Michigan. Last 5 games we've put up 3 pts in third qtrs. This could trip us up if not addressed. Dans always talked about scoring at end of second qtr and early third qtr.

Over the last two games the lead was very comfortable so no need to go out and show anything new on tape or to put our players in a spot to get injured. With the CFP style points no longer matter. I expect the same to happen at the big house. Get up by 20+ at half and then get home fast and healthy.
The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 7 Share Posted October 28 Another key to the game is having a turnover they cause actually count. So far, an interception against tOSU and a fumble recovery against Illinois have been taking away. That means that 40% of OBD's BIG games so far have had the opponent continue drives after turnovers. I'd like to see that stat improve this week.

Charles Fischer Administrator No. 9 Share Posted October 28 We have the big advantage in skill people on offense, thus exploit that! Get a good lead, and then force some turnovers when they attempt to pass their way back into the game. It all starts on offense, and through the air, IMHO. 3 Mr. FishDuck

I saw a YouTube video of two guys that are Michigan fans, but have covered the Ducks extensively. They had a few major points. Michigan can't tackle in space and so Oregon's typically offensive scheme should have a lot of success. Also Michigan is incapable of throwing the deep pass consistently or effectively. Oregon typically takes a nothing over the top approach, but perhaps being more aggressive in the short pass game will be the better approach and has the secondary effect of loading the box against the run. 1
