Tennessee takes on Georgia on Saturday night, and quarterback Nico Iamaleava is still working his way back from injury.

Hmmm... Smells like imminent chaos to me.

The SEC often had half of the 4 team format, they're having trouble seeing why it isn't the same with 12.

I really want to see Boise St knock out an SEC team in the playoffs.

Lol, so do I.  Well, so long as they don’t knock out GA!  It’s a big ask though.  How good is Boise in the trenches?

Good enough to allow a 192 yard rusher against Oregon. It will be interesting to finally give a teams like BSU the chance to prove them self rather than the 3 loss SEC team getting the benefit of the doubt and taking their spot in the playoffs.

Could a 3 lost team win the national championship, Yes. Should a team that only lost to the number one team in the nation by 3 points get a shot at proving that they belong, absolutely.

Tennessee has won this season with terrific defense, a solid run game, and on occasion help from Nico who has also turned the ball over several times.

I don't believe Nico's absence will have that big an impact of this game. After watching Ole Miss last weekend, a solid Vols front seven will have the ears pinned back vs. Beck and a suspect Georgia O line.

Carson Beck's regression has been jarring, putting Georgia in a position nobody considered possible.

CBS Notes NIco Out Could be NIce.

If Iamaleava doesn't play against Georgia, a potential loss may be viewed with more grace

Nits are being picked, but with the possibility of six or more SEC teams finishing with two conference losses, nits will be picked.😁Perhaps, play 9 and not 8?

Word out tonight in the Dawg community is that Nico plays. I say good. If Georgia is to win this game, I don't want to give Tennessee an excuse for losing or the damned CFP committee an excuse to devalue the Dawg win.

If the CFP committee has demonstrated anything this year, it is that strength of schedule matters a whole lot less in its deliberation than simple number of losses. None of this wanted this at the beginning of the season, but the B1G has been the primary beneficiary of this trend, to date at least. Were this trend to persist, there would be little incentive for the SEC to go to an 9-game schedule in a conference that is far better balanced from top to bottom than the other three conferences. In fact, I, a proponent of the 9-game slate would now advise Greg Sankey against it given the "# of losses main criteria" of he CFP committee.

I do have a plan for shaking things up a bit in the future that I believe would make college football more interesting in ways common to other sports, but it is too late for me to be spelling this plan out tonight. I'll let the smoke clear from the weekend first.

Go Ducks, beat the Badgers!

The Vols, IMHO, have less talent than the Dawgs. However, the Vols are playing better as a team.

The Dawgs D simply must play its best game of this season. I expect this will be the case in this game.

Victory against the Vols depends on the O Line protecting Beck long enough for the receivers to break open.

This group of receivers, including TE is not on the level of the last few years. Tbey need to step up.

But Beck needs to make better decisions. Like not throw into triple coverage. Take a sack for darn sake and lead this team.

Just like Oregon, the Dawg team can only beat themselves. But our great Dawg forum posters can offer a better perspective.

From this fan's view a 3 loss Georgia, Bama or even Ole Miss is better than a second place BIG 12 or ACC team. Hec they are better than their conference champs.

ND has no business being in the conversation. As Jon Joseph shares, they have 5 G5 teams on their schedule, weak ACC opponents and a loss to a G6 team. WTH CFP committee?

I like Boise State, however they will not beat whoever tbe #5 team is in the opening round!

The Broncos played their best game possible against OBD's.

The Ducks had O line issues and the D had not found itself, yet. The Ducks had tbeir best 3rd quarter with 2 scores and had taken control of the game.

The Ducks committed 2 costly 4 quarter turnovers and Jenty made them pay. Yet the Duck O drove the field, ran out the clock and kicked a FG to win.

If thry played again OBD's would win by 17.  BSU's G5 schedule will not prepare them for whoever that #5 slot opponent will be.

If OBD's and tOSU win out the loser of the BIG CCG the loser most likely will land at the 5 spot.

But I am rooting for the Broncos to get tbeir chance and hope they can get a CFP win

As long as it is not against OBD's!

I'm in complete agreement that the SoS should be valued above just looking at the # of W's, who you've played should matter. But, just as important should be balanced schedules. If the SEC is truly superior, it should be fine playing the same number of games.

Will the GA o-line play better?  Will our young RBs know how to pick up Pressure?  Like you said, will Beck have time?  If Beck doesn’t have time will he turn it over multiple times?  Which team can run the ball?  Questions of the pre-game for me.

If Beck has time, GA wins convincingly I think.  If not the TN front 7 will wreak havoc.

I agree that the GA D will likely have a strong game.  I predict a lower scoring and very tough game.  It’s hard to tell, but home field is a big advantage for us.

It turns out you hit all the nails on the head with this post SoGa Dawg. I had the same pre-game concerns that you did, and The O-line did come up big, the defense was once again menacing (helps to finally have Smael Mondon back), and Carson was Superb in all aspects of the game. A great win for the dawgs whom I understand scored 12 more points on the Vols defense than they had surrendered to anyone else all year.
