DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 1 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:24 PM My favorite quote from the article: ”However, the narrative has taken an unexpected turn, with Sanders and his team claiming the ultimate victory—Travis Hunter winning the 2024 Heisman Trophy, a silent response to Lanning’s infamous “playing for clicks” comment.“ Apparently, an individual award is the “ultimate” victory in Boulder. Deion Sanders shows Dan Lanning it's not 'clicks' — Colorado plays for Heisman wins WWW.SI.COM The tension between Deion Sanders and Dan Lanning reached a unique climax as the two coaches found themselves in the same room for the first time since Oregon’s
30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:39 PM Hunter’s triumph marked a symbolic response to the criticisms levied after the Oregon loss, proving that the Buffaloes were playing for far more than clicks. No, it shows that's exactly what they were playing for. 1
Duckman60 No. 3 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:47 PM What do you think Sanders would have chosen before the season- 1:9-3 and Hunter winning the Heisman Or 2: No Heisman and a spot in the Conference championship game to get an opportunity to go to the Playoff? Let's see how good of coach he is next year without his son's & Hunter. 1
jrw Moderator No. 4 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:54 PM This whole Prime/Lanning "rivalry" is just manufactured click-bait. 1
David Marsh No. 5 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:09 PM Closing paragraph got a laugh out of me... "While the rivalry between Sanders and Lanning might have been born from Oregon’s dominant victory, it is Hunter’s Heisman Trophy that will leave the lasting mark. The silent response from Sanders and his team is undeniable. Colorado’s “hype” was no illusion. It was a vision realized, one defined by talent, perseverance, and a player who truly changed the game" I think the "rivalry" here is one sided. As Duck fans we don't see any rivalry between the Ducks/Lanning and Colorado/Sanders. Do we enjoy watching Colorado lose? Yep.. but that's not unique to Oregon that's ALL of college football. Also the Heisman is all about hype! It's about gaudy statistics and highlights. And if anything this year's Heisman made a statement that of the 4 finalists only Dillon Gabriel played in the B1G or SEC. The Heisman statement was that be a high quality athlete and play bad competition and put up big stats. Would Hunter put up the same stats in the B1G? Absolutely not! This is not to say he isn't a quality athlete but he was certainly several levels above his average competition in the Big 12. As for a lasting mark... Whose in the playoff? Lanning and Gabriel were honored to be invited to the Heisman ceremony but that wasn't the goal of the season. The goal is to make the playoff and WIN a National Championship. The Buffs don't even have a playoff invite. Hard to achieve a National Championship without one. Colorado is still playing for clicks. The Ducks are looking to win it ALL. 1 1 1
PittDuck No. 6 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:10 PM (edited) Did DS just get in his “last word” in an engagement that DL won hands down over a year ago? Travis Hunter, a gifted athlete, won the Heisman, Deion Sanders, a flashy ex-athlete didn’t. The DS/BS Hype Train is really spinning its wheels trying to make something out of nothing! For the record, DL is 35-5 in 3 seasons at OR, DS was 27-6 in 3 seasons at Jackson State and is 13-11 in 2 seasons at Colorado. All DS showed DL is that he was able to take a 5 star player who was enamored with him, from J State to Colorado where there was such a talent void, the kid was able to play both sides. The kid was the No. 1 recruit in 2022 and the No. 1 portal transfer in 2023, so I think he had talent prior to DS’s coaching wizardry. Just sayin… Edited Wednesday at 11:21 PM by PittDuck Add detail 1

Yeah, the article is a puff piece for CU homers. Sanders snagged a 5 star that idolized him and won an awards that is a popularity contest award, and somehow this changes anything at a team or coaching level. Oh and Dan has 5 five stars joining in the spring... 1
1Funduck No. 8 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:26 PM That writer is delusional. Ask any kid on Colorado's team, 'Would you trade a Heisman for a playoff berth?' Also, look at the clicks quote, 'they are playing for clicks, our "TEAM" is playing for WINS!'. Congrats on winning the Heisman Travis, it was quite the accomplishment. What bowl game are you guys in again? .........crickets. 1

Augduck No. 10 Share Posted Thursday at 02:10 AM So tired of this whole saga. The writer is clearly playing to DS. Is he trying to get the job as the SID at Colo or maybe he is the chairperson of the Deion Mutual Admiration Society. Great for Travis. Hope he does well at the next level.

30Duck Moderator No. 12 Share Posted Thursday at 03:30 AM Thanks, Prime, we'll take him from here, The first stop of his FBS career was at Colorado, where he played special teams during the 2022 season. However, after the arrival of head coach Deion Sanders, Harkey found himself part of the mass exodus from Boulder. Over 60 players transferred out under Sanders’ new regime, and Harkey, looking for a more fitting opportunity, landed at Texas State. He has seen a lot with three different transfers and four stops along the way. Harkey saw firsthand how Colorado coach Deion Sanders approached some Buffalo players and whether they fit into his system and culture. Harkey didn’t and moved on to Texas State where he turned into a very good player. Sanders’ loss is now Oregon’s gain.
Cacker Guy No. 13 Share Posted Thursday at 06:00 AM (edited) Boy, I've read a lot of lousy college football articles, but I think this may be the very worst. Unbelievably bad in so many ways. Edit: actually I admit I didn't read the entire thing. Probably not even half of it. Edited Thursday at 06:14 AM by Cacker Guy 2
