PittDuck No. 1 Share Posted December 30, 2024 Nice article on Dillon from espn this morning. He is in the right place to chase a Championship! Rose Bowl - Oregon's Dillon Gabriel on record-breaking journey - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM On the cusp of another record, Dillon Gabriel and teammates from three schools talk about his chase for rings, dealing with the death of teammates and his DJ skills. 1 1
30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted December 30, 2024 Finishing third in Heisman Trophy voting behind Colorado's Travis Hunter and Boise State's Ashton Jeanty was an honor but one he was never chasing. The mission was championships. Which is exactly why he should have been chosen over the 'Hey, look at my stats' guys. 1 1

All the non-Duck Heisman candidates have lost to Oregon at some point in their careers. But wait... Travis Hunter was injured in 23 and didn't play against the Ducks. Ok... Sure, but he was on that Colorado team and let's be real, if he played was the outcome of that game going to change? NO! Turns out not playing the Ducks can help your Heisman ambitions. Gabriel is a class act and I'm hoping he achieves his end goal. 1 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 4 Share Posted December 30, 2024 Pitt Duck, thanks so much for the post of the terrific article on Gabe. Bill Connelly's take on the PO quarter-finals is up on ESPN+, $ Wall, so here is a summary of Connolly's article, the point spread favorites, and the SP+ and FPI game predictions. 12/31 - Fiesta Bowl - Penn State - 11 vs. Boise State. "Since 2022, PSU's James Franklin is 33-1 when PSU was the favorite." SP+ PSU bu 11.5/ FPI PSU by 5.4. 1/1/25 - Peach Bowl - Texas -13 vs. ASU. "ASU finished the regular season as the hottest team in FBS, overachieving SP+ projections by 19.9 points a game during a six-game winning streak." SP+ Texas by 16/ FPI Texas by 11.8 1/1/25 - Sugar Bowl - Georgia -2 vs. Notre Dame. "Georgia and Notre Dame have met on three occasions, and all three games played out in similar fashion: The teams traded intense, physical blows for almost 60 minutes, then Georgia makes a late stop and wins." SP+ Georgia by 0.9/ FPI Notre Dame by 1. 1/1/25 - ROSE BOWL - OREGON +2.5 vs. Ohio State. "The winner becomes the national title favorite." SP+ Ohio State by 0.9/ FPI Ohio State by 1.2. ........................................................................................................................................... ASU is the last man standing with a chance to save face for the ACC and the B12. A Texas win by two or more TDs will help power the Power 2's argument for three to four automatic PO qualifiers for the B1G and the SEC. PSU as a favorite under Franklin wins. Google It. I expect PSU to attack Boise's vulnerable cornerbacks. Vulnerable due to Boise blitzing more often than any other team up to the quarter-finals. I do think Jeanty will go over 100 yards and PSU wins but Boise State covers. The Rose and Sugar Bowl games are close to Pick-'Em for the point spread, SP+, and FPI. Georgia will not have Carson Beck. But Georgia has played a far more grueling schedule than Notre Dame and Georgia's SEC champ game win over Texas is a better win than Notre Dame's victory over Indiana. I think UGA prevails. OREGON vs. Ohio State. That the winner of a quarter-final game is the ipso facto favorite to win it all exposes the PO for what it is. An untenable, jury-rigged format that will be corrected in 2026-27 if not before. GO DUCKS. Make the SP+ cry! Prove the FPI programming to be a lie! And make it a bad Day for Ryan, the Chipper, Willie Boy, and the tOSU D! TAKE NO PRISONERS! LEAVE NO CRUMBS! 1
Sandy Rocks No. 5 Share Posted December 31, 2024 That is a really great article, I didn't think ESPN had it in them. Going from Bo Nix to Dillion Gabriel was completely seamless. We have been so fortunate to have two such outstanding quarterbacks over the last three seasons. You could get really spoiled. They both are so mature and focused. 1

More like "look at my gold watch" guys. Those "stars" under Prime are no role model to anyone. Seeing how they choke against BYU really put a smile on my face. It also shows how ridiculous it is to award the Heisman before bowl/PO games. I wonder where Hunter would land now after that embarrassing CU loss. Heisman Trophy needs to put more weight on team performance. 1
OregonDucks No. 7 Share Posted December 31, 2024 Coach Lanning: "This team believes in him. They're grateful every day that they get to step on the field with him. He's about connection and people first. But the poise that he shows in big games is unmeasured. I haven't been around players like Dillon. I'm really grateful I get to share the field with him....When the moment's the biggest, that's when Dillon is the most stoic and level-set for those moments. I think that's when he's calmest." Tez Johnson: "Those big games, we still don't know how in those big games he finds a way to separate himself. It's something he got in his veins that we cannot pinpoint. No lights get too big for him" T-Ferg: "I've watched his tape before at Oklahoma and UCF. He always shows up in big games. Just knowing him in the offseason and how much work he puts in, I already knew that's what he was going to do. He rises to the competition. He's going to play his best ball against the best teams." ================= If Oregon wins the National Championship this season, I believe that it'll be because of Dillon Gabriel. The dude is just clutch. We are so lucky that he is in an Oregon uniform. 1 1 1 1
