bbmichaels No. 2 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:49 AM Yeah, I just don't see it happening. ND is too 1-dimensional on offense...though the same could be said about that team up north, so I suppose you never know.

DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 4 Share Posted Tuesday at 01:32 AM I’ve only seen two really huge upsets in CFB championship games in my lifetime. Both happened to the Miami Hurricanes. In 1986 against PSU and in 2002 against OSU. If they’re not playing then I’m not counting on an upset.
Solar No. 5 Share Posted Tuesday at 02:44 AM It is conceivable. Notre Dame is a great team this year, but I'd bet on the seniors of Ohio State to come to play and shut down the Notre Dame offense. In other news, 5 of the 6 NFL wildcard games were blowouts. Division weekend will hopefully be a bit better.

I don't see ND with its best RB banged up and its starting left tackle out for the champ game being able to run on the Ohio State D. Notre Dame's offensive line worry for National Championship game has a silver lining FANSIDED.COM At this point of the season, mental toughness may determine who wins the College Football Playoff between No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 8 Ohio State. Football is a g We knew that playing 15 games in the case of ND and Ohio State before playing for the title was going to be taxing and injuries would likely have an impact. One example of a key injury was ND doing nothing on offense when Abdul Carter was on the field for PSU and the Domers improvement on O after Carter left the game. The Ohio State D ends are 'pretty good.' The guy protecting Leonard's blind side is out. Hmmm? I'm not buying that a guy who missed all of the season into game 15 is going to be a 'silver lining' for the Irish who also had a starting guard dinged up in the Penn State game. Ohio State had O-line injury problems earlier in the season and the O-line was great against Tennessee and OBD (sigh.) Against Texas, the O-line committed far too many penalties, also a sign of fatigue? GO Buckeyes!
Nevada Dawg No. 9 Share Posted Tuesday at 06:29 AM Unfortunately, I think all those 4th and 5th year seniors will shut down the ND offense and this may prove to be a very boring game. I really don't like either team much but will be rooting for he Irish because my best friend is a ND alumnus and I will support him on this one. I have only rooted for OSU once in my life, in the 2002 Natty against the self-described "thugs" of South Beach. I'd have rooted for anyone against them and my one evening pulling for the Bucks is proof positive of that. Interestingly, the most talented defensive player on the OSU defense is, in my opinion, an underclassman, Caleb Downs, who played his high school ball about 35-40 miles from the Georgia campus. He was steered away from Georgia (go Bama) by his dad who had a grudge against the team in Athens when the Dawgs didn't recruit Caleb's older brother who became a top wide receiver in the ACC. When Saban left and Caleb went into the portal last year, Caleb looked like he was transferring to Georgia. With the promise of a great NIL package, he was reported to have bought a house in Athens. But at the last moment, Ohio State dropped a monster bag and he took it.
DuckFan93 No. 10 Share Posted Tuesday at 10:39 PM (edited) It will be hard, but I am rooting for ND. They have a chance if they play as hard as they did in the last 2 PO games. Say whatever you want, at least they have shown up for the PO, and beat the team that beat Texas twice. So they are definitely in the same level as tosu this year. I am sure Freeman has learned the lesson from their last matchup and will make sure that he has all 11 players on Defense the whole game! Intravenus de Milo No. 11 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:37 PM I took the bait! I saw the title, thought to myself, “hmmm, let’s see what someone outside of Columbus thinks about this game”. You got me!
