QUAAACK! Top OL, Emmanuel Pregnon, Transfers From USC to Oregon!

Recommended Posts

Looks like OBD are going to have a formidable O Line to protect DM (or whomever is directing the offense) next year. They just added the "top interior lineman" in the portal to their offseason haul!

Pregnon is the third offensive lineman the Ducks have signed out of the transfer portal.

Big haul in offensive linemen this portal cycle.

I think we will see a few of the traditional recruits step up as well and take a spot but Lanning is NOT messing around with the offensive line next year. He wants depth and he wants these players to compete for the job. The offensive line this year was shaky... then stabilized... got a bit wobbly again. And overall wasn't as good a unit as it should have been this last year.

Huge...absolutely huge for the 2025 offense.

Very few crossed fingers about the offensive line now!

He was considered by many to be the top OL in the portal, and just finished a visit to Texas...and went with Oregon!  He was the starting guard at USC this past year, allowed no sacks, and was known as their best OL with an NFL future.

In one action...we torqued off USC and Texas fans.  Love it!

Love getting top available talent.

Hoping they can generate some chemistry real quick next year.

Another couple of tasty-tidbits from On3...

The 6-foot-6, 297-pound Pregnon played in all 13 of the Trojans’ games this season. He finished with USC’s highest PFF overall grade on offense and as a pass blocker.

For his efforts, he was named a 2024 All-Big Ten Second Team selection.

Does Bedford have another year of eligibility?

This is a huge pickup!

According to Duckwire, Oregon’s 2025 starting OL could be:

LT: Isaiah World (transfer from Nevada)

LG: Emmanuel Pregnon (transfer from USC)

Cen: Lapani Laloulu (returning starter)

RG: Matthew Bedford (previous transfer from Indiana; medical waiver?)

RT: Alex Harkey (transfer from Texas State)

I just hope that we can get back to primarily recruiting and developing offensive linemen (vs. relying on transfers). Currently, 4 out of the 5 projected starters will be transfers.

The article says he does, if he applies for a medical redshirt for this past year. (Cam McCormick knows a ton about that) But he has not announced yet if he is applying, or if he has--or his plans.

If not available, then I thought David luli did a decent job at right guard, and will be better for his senior year.

LOL. The Oregon AD should hire Cam to advise and apply for redshirts/medical waivers.

Perhaps N’Faly Dante’s would have been approved!

Dan did fantastic in the portal this year, but IMO this is the best player of the group.

Pregnon has not allowed a sack since 2023.  In his last 1,066 pass blocking snaps, zero sacks.

massive get.

The more I think about it, the more I believe this will be the most important pick up for next season.  OBD interior oline always felt thin this past season and if Bedford gets his medical exception granted, I'm not confident he'll stay healthy all season.  Pregnon and Iuli will both be very important in 2025.

Oregon Ducks, I understand the desire to build from within but in this day and age of wide-open free agency I believe that you assemble the best roster you can however you can. Cornelious made a difference on the O-line and coming from the FCS OBD and Cornelious mutually benefited.

As Urban Meyer and others have opined, quality O-line players are the hardest guys to find in today's CFB.

Ohio State paid B1G dinero to keep guys developed in the system to stay for one more year and win Golden Pants vs. Michigan, which didn't happen, and to win a Natty which is odds on to happen. Ohio State will have a Blue Chip roster in 2025, DUH!, but I see tOSU hoping to bring in D linemen/edge rushers and O-line guys once the post-spring portal opens.

OT - The CFB competition committee has recommended that CFB go to a single, but for coaching changes, 10-day transfer window.

Makes sense but cue the lawyers.

In 2023, Lanning signed 14 Portal transfers, in 2024 it was 12, and in 2025 it is nine.  As our young talent emerges, we will take fewer from the portal as we thought would occur.  I believe we always will take some portal talent, but more like what Ohio State is doing now.

If the Buckeyes are doing it with the incredible Blue-Chip roster they have, I am sure the Ducks will continue.

Good call, Charles. 9 portal transfers visited OBD this season. Danno went 9 for 9. This is closing in on Ohio State's efficiency in recruiting and portal picking.

I respect but disagree with the idea that Ohio State has bigger, faster. athletes than OBD. In 2025 will Julian Sayin be better than Dante Moore? Will a rebuilt Buckeyes defense be better than OBD's? How about the tOSU O line where Dan has scored in the portal?

In 2024 OBD defeated Ohio State. In terms of OBD being competitive, the Rose Bowl was a one-off. The deck was stacked in favor of The No. 8 seed and not the top seed in a format that abused the No. 1 seed more than any No. 1 seed in the history of postseason play.

The Texas team should have lost to ASU and PO MVP to date, 'I'm Going to Scatter You,' Skattabo. The Texas team caught Ohio State in DALLAS coming off of two terrific PO performances. I simply (and I am simple) do not see a significant difference between the quality of the OBD and tOSU rosters. I see a format where after trumping an overrated Vols team in Columbus, the Buckeyes defeated a "laid-off" Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

This was a format FUBAR. Oregon IMO defeats this Notre Dame team. Oregon IMO defeats a Texas team that should have lost to ASU. Oregon is not that far behind if behind at all a Buckeyes team and a Notre Dame team that did not have to play a champ game as did OBD.

Hats off to tOSU and ND but to my knowledge, no No. 1 seed in the history of postseason play has been dealt the bogus hand dealt OBD.

BTW. On 10/12/24, tOSU was not bigger, stronger, or faster than OBD. And where were all those bigger, faster, stronger guys vs. Michigan?

A big Yahoo for Skattebo! After the RB I was convinced that osu2 simply had better, bigger, faster players than did OBD. But then those bigger, faster osu2 players played Texas, and they didn't look bigger and faster. There's no way that the format did not have a huge part in the disparity between osu2 and the No.1 Oregon Ducks.

For that game to used as a comparison, Oregon would not only be that far behind osu2, but Texas as well, and ASU almost beat, should have beat Texas, are they now to be thought of as better than Oregon? As FUBAR  the format is going to be the same next year, and if one thing can be taken from it, it is that no B1G team should even want to play in the CCG, 3rd place is where you want to be.

Jon, I believe Ohio State had more talent that was matured to the position that they are through primarily high school recruiting. I believe we are on that track, but our talent has not yet come to full maturity.

As they do, we will take less from the portal.

Friend 30, et al, more on this ESPN bowl extravaganza, Er, Playoff.

FANSIDED.COM

It's time to take the SEC off this porcelain pedestal. They flopped when it mattered most in the CFP.

Can't we all just NFL PO-wise get along? I reiterate, that no NFL coach or talking head whined about their team not playing in the postseason.

IMO, Pawalll, Kiffin, and Sankey lost more than not being in the champ game. If It Just Means More why all the crying when it top to bottom means more and SEC HQ came up with a schedule that benefited Texas and Mizzou and not Georgia and Alabama?

No person in CFB land hurt himself more in 2024 than Greg Sankey. The once-vaunted leader of the CFB pack came up with a bogus PO format, and ridiculous schedules for his top teams, and whined after the fact on behalf of three 3-loss teams defeated by B1G teams in the postseason.

You hand Alabama and Georgia rigorous schedules and hand Texas a stroll in the SEC park and what do you expect?

Hats off to 'Speak Softly and Carry a B1G Stick' Tony Petitti.

Absolutely Sankey comes off the worst. Finebaum's looparound logic in the article is the same stuff he's been spouting for months. The only credible SEC personality this season was Saban, who knew it was time to get out.
