SoutheastDuck No. 1 Share Posted February 12 Looks like Georgia is no longer the favorite. I'm pretty upset about this. https://athlonsports.com/college/georgia-bulldogs/college-football-news-rumors-recruiting-oregon-uga-dawgs-jared-curtis "He spoke highly of the Bulldogs this past week. But talking to several sources regarding this recruitment, I think it's trending Oregon."

DanLduck No. 3 Share Posted February 13 $2.7M?!? How can he have an NIL value that high, and he isn't even a senior or graduated yet? Man, college football is getting expensive!
Gizmoduck No. 4 Share Posted February 13 Just my two cents after watching maybe 5 mins of tape on this kid. DO! NOT! SIGN! HIM! Arm talent did not impress. Carson Beck 2.0 in my eyes but hey I’m not paid to make these decisions.
KCDuck1 No. 5 Share Posted February 13 The young man (QB) from Folsom, CA looks great! His arm talent and his head are exceptionally good. VR, KCDuck1
Nevada Dawg No. 6 Share Posted February 13 For what it is worth, a lot ok knowledgeable guys from the Talkin' Dawgs blog don't want to take Jared either, although he seems to be Kirby's favorite. They have pointed to 2-3 other guys who have everything Curtis seems to have, are more mobile, play in big boy rather than Private School leagues. and will command NIL but at no where near what Curtis will command. After looking at film they post on these alternatives, they are winning me over to their points of view. So I won't cry crocodile tears if the Dawgs miss on Curtis. 1

To be fair, he did lead his team to the state title as a junior. It looks like he completed over 70% of his passes (accurate passer) and threw for 38 TDs with only 3 interceptions (good decision making). He also appears athletic and throws well on the run. Watching his tape reminds me of Caleb Williams (watch the play in the below clip at 0:46). I’m no expert but if all the top teams are recruiting him, they must see something. Nevada Dawg No. 8 Share Posted February 13 In no way did I mean to imply that Jared was unskilled. I just pointed out that he played low-level competition and that there were others, equally or better skilled, who have proved themselves against good competition and are available it seems for a heck of a lot less money. I stand on this assessment.
Nevada Dawg No. 9 Share Posted February 13 I will say though that Jared's mom seems to love UGA and has made no secret of he fact that she wants him there. But this is shaping up to be an NIL recruitment and I'd bet he'll end up with the highest bidder.
KCDuck1 No. 10 Share Posted February 13 WRT the TENN and Folsom, CA QBs, I enjoy watching how the TENN QB uses his feet and eyes. His practice time at OBDs would provide many opportunities to develop and use his instincts, eyes and feet. He has not replaced my admiration for the Folsom QB, who has the instincts, arm, eyes, and feet; still, I am not a coach. That QB from Folsom plays to OBDs' brand: we recruit nationally, but we are a Western team (and not just West Coast, or just California). The Folsom QB: how good is he, really? He is definitely a team player. He has talked about his admiration for the Duck's leadership, for Coach Stein and OBDs overall. He recognizes leadership (and chutzpah). He has the arm, the eyes, the accuracy, and the feet, and he has had them all for several years. He has benefitted from the coaching at Folsom, and he is the Cali State Player of the Year (unless someone knows something different). Overall, he is a smart athlete who knows how to employ his coaching and teammates to win games and championships. OBDs have the coaches, players, the practice and game ethic and rationales to succeed together at the highest level; Or, not. I believe we are reaching the point where it will be difficult to keep us out of the top four every year. But, it all begins up front (Off and Def); and the Rose Bowl was a succinct reminder. Still, the chariot driver should be the best (or one of the best), and this young man (among the several esteemed QB players we have), may be The Best, or he will assist to push The Best up to and over the top. But I've read often enough that Mom's wishes prevailed that this could still be a "who knows" yet decision.
