Smith72 Moderator No. 1 Share Posted March 20 Interesting idea from Coach Sanders. At the end of spring practices it would be refreshing to hit someone else instead of your teammates! Our high school team always appreciated a jamboree versus several teams after a long preseason fall camp. This definitely helped us to get ready for the real games. Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes vs. Oregon Ducks In NFL-Style Spring Game? WWW.SI.COM Did Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders just pitch an idea that could save college football spring games? Jon Joseph Moderator No. 2 Share Posted March 20 Thank you, Mr. Smith. It's an intriguing idea but the NCAA is in the way. Ask the NCAA for permission and you may hear back by 2040. I'd be concerned about the contact and possible injuries in such a game. Would QBs be fair game? Would players from another team be more prone to blowing one another up? Would CU pay the cost of bringing its squad to Eugene or vice versa? CU has made good money off of its last two spring games in Boulder, would the Buffs want to give up the spring revenue? Syracuse volunteered to trip to Boulder for three days of practice and a game but it's all fun and games before the NCAA says 'OK.' This is more of Prime Time at his 'counter-culture' best. What might make sense? Play your one and only FCS opponent in a regulation game to conclude spring practice and play 11 games beginning in Week 0. Lose the champ game in favor of a flex-scheduled 11th week game where at least the leader in the standings would play the 2nd place team, and play the PO title game or the semifinals on New Year's Day. But, with the portal in place and the need to integrate your recruits with players from the portal; well, I'm not sure I would have wanted to see OBD play Idaho in the 2024 spring game. Go Ducks! Extinguish the Flames!
DUCati855 Moderator No. 3 Share Posted March 20 I would rather Oregon play the Beavers in the Spring Game... and then remove the real schedule. 1 1 2

DanLduck No. 5 Share Posted March 20 A BIG No Thanks! Risking injury for a nothing game is a no-brainer, non-starter. I like our format. Bring food for the needy, watch the new kids. Don't hit the qb's. Get some excitement for fall. It's what little we as fans have left that makes us feel like it's still college, and not nfl lite. 1

He was a great player, has a solid case as one of the best defensive players in NFL history, on 3 teams, good baseball player too. But if the media needs to shower attention on a B12 coach, how about Kenny D, or this guy

Deion was THE MAN in those days in the ATL. Georgians needed someone like Deion after Hank Aaron retired.
