From Bruce 3404

This Friday through Sunday the Ducks will compete at home in their first Big 10 outdoor track and field championships.  The Ducks swept both team titles indoors, with the men coming from almost out of nowhere to win.  The outdoor projections show an SC sweep; however, the women fall only 1/2 point behind SC, 121 to 120.5.  What this means is that if SC runs to form and ONE Duck moves up one position (say 8th to 7th), the Lady Ducks will win.  Should be a barnburner right up to the final event.  One important note is that the Ducks won indoors thanks to fine performances by Jadyn Mays and Jaida Ross, both of whom have no outdoor eligibility.

While the Men had a huge upset indoors, an outdoor upset seems highly unlikely, with SC projected to score 140 points, Wisconsin 97 and the Ducks 75.

Ohio State comes in at No. 2 with ... 4

I think there are some B1G regrets out there for sure.

When the finals become reported...it will become apparent that the West Coast Teams have taken over the old Big-10!

Massive choke by the SC men, similar to their indoor conference meltdown.  Trojans came in with an anticipated 140 points based on seasonal bests.  Meanwhile, the Duck men projected a mere 73.5.  SC underperformed by an astonishing 59 points while the Duck men blew up the form charts with 42.5 points more than anticipated.

But for an injury to Juliet Cherubet, the Duck women would have easily won.  Cherubet was projected to score 14 points.  While the Ducks underperformed by 9.5 points, if one subtracts the unfortunate injury, the rest of the women over performed by 4.5 points.

As with indoors, kudos to the coaching staff who once again had their athletes ready for the big stage.
