Posted Yesterday at 06:31 PM1 day My handle might give away my bias, but I love the "Win The Day" team motto.IMO, no motto since has lived up to WTD:Taggart - "Do Something" . . . ugh, how depressing and uninspiringMari Cristobal - "Physicality"? OR "Underperform Compared to The Talent We Have, Scowl, and Make Oregon's Offensive Reputation Disappear"Dan Lanning (must tread lightly here because I love DL) - "We're Mighty Different"? OR "Double Down" . . . meh, not bad, not good.Chip Kelly did not take/use the WTD motto with him when he left Oregon. I believe it belongs to Oregon.Let's bring it back. What say you?
Yesterday at 07:11 PM1 day Administrator I like it, and while it was "Chip's Thing," it is also part of our history, our heritage. It was a very successful time, and that slogan was the best, so yes...bring it back and embrace it! Mr. FishDuck
Yesterday at 07:24 PM1 day Moderator FEBU…(Forget Everybody But US) seems to be Dan Lanning’s motto, and overall message to his players.Seems fitting because many times we are that cute team from the Northwest that nobody wants to really play.Personally, I like win the day, but I think a team motto comes from the coach, or players.

This came across every week with the Ducks vs Them videos. Against Michigan it was all about thumbs down no mercy. Against Ohio State it was "your jabs are good enough" and just keep fighting. Against Wisconsin it was make your opponent's house your own. Against Washington it was all about taking the bat (metaphorically speaking) to a rival. He is an absolute master of motivation and finding a theme to keying his players into it. Chip Kelly and "Win the Day" was awesome and great but Lanning does an incredible job by using these themes for short bursts and not letting players let the words become background noise, which happens to everyone.
Yesterday at 09:10 PM1 day Moderator Why? What's wrong with Dan's 'Double Down' for 2025? After all, in 2024-25, OBD Won the Day 13 out of 14 times. And at the first opportunity to go NFL, Chip did not wait for even a day and was on another Day's sideline on 1/1/25.

I just really like WTD for an overall Team/Oregon motto; painted all over stadium/facilities as a sort of permanent, unchanging motto.

4 hours ago4 hr WTD got taken down about 10 notches during Helfrich 3 and 8 season, when Helfrich was asked in an interview if the team was still winning the day. He responded saying "we're winning some of them." This showed the well had been poisoned, hence when Taggart arrived he got rid of it trying to instill some immediate accountability and agency for the players with "Do Something". I doubt he would have kept it forever, but lucky for us he didn't stick around for us to have to find out.WTD is still solid, based sports psychology, was never adopted by any other school, and represents a highly successful period for the program, so I wouldn't mind if it popped up around the facilities and on merchandise now and then.
