10 hours ago10 hr Bizarrely, I have zero issues with this list. I think they got it pretty much right.
10 hours ago10 hr Fascinating.Clearly doesn’t matter all THAT much on September 2…but I would penalize Texas and Clemson a lot more. I don’t care who they were playing against, those were some anemic offensive outputs given how much build up they both had as supposed offensive juggernauts. 10 hours ago10 hr Moderator I’m surprised that FSU didn’t move at all after walloping Bama. Do the Carolina Bills drop into the bottom ten?

10 hours ago10 hr Author Moderator Miami - No. 5 - Nice win over ND, but - 9/11/21 - OBD 35 - Ohio State 28Including putting Joe Moorhead in the hospital, and a choke job at ASU, Mario failed to put the icing on what should have been a spot in the PO. Will we see a redux of a late 2024 Miami at Syracuse choke?

9 hours ago9 hr Administrator Coaches poll had Oregon at No. 5, so we had THREE B1G teams in the top five? Cool! (Paul isn't going to like that!) Mr. FishDuck

I figured they would haven't have to take the steps and as anticipated, be given an elevator lift to a spot above OBD. If I am not mistaken, I think they went 3 and out on 4 or 5 straight possessions in the second half of that game against ND. Plus, I think ND was way overrated to start. They really struggled and Miami did beat them, but it was not an impressive win. Oh yeah, and don't get me started on Joe Moorehead going MIA in Palo Alto, and Mario's abrupt exit stage left.

However, they play six straight to end the season with road games at SMU, VA Tech and Pitt. There is ample opportunity for Mario to go off the rails this season.
7 hours ago7 hr Personally, I don't think there is a clear No.1 just yet. There might not be a clear NO.1 for the entire season. Though I suppose Ohio State has the best win at the moment. We don't know how good or bad Ohio State and Texas are at this point but we do know they have talent. Oregon looked great and they played what looks like a good team in Montana State, however, they are not an FBS school though I am sure they could beat any of the FBS bottom feeders. We saw a MSU team that was pretty disciplined and well coached on the field but was greatly out classed in terms of talent. Oregon feels like a top 5 team but frankly it doesn't matter. Give all this enough time and it will work itself out.
6 hours ago6 hr Other thoughts... I think LSU is too high they get a lot of credit for beating Clemson but I think Clemson was overrated as it was as well. Miami and Notre Dame both have lots of talent and are certainly top 15 teams but not so sure on top 10. Granted... I don't think there are many true top 10 teams right now. We are still quite early in the whole process.
6 hours ago6 hr I've debated the importance of polls in my head. If the polls were eliminated I wonder how we would get a top 25 or more importantly top 12 when it comes time to seed the playoffs. For example how would we pick the number three or four teams from the multi bid leagues?

LSU is going to be tested against Florida and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose. Miami has USF, Clemson has Ga. Tech and Notre Dame has A&M. Those should all be good tests.
4 hours ago4 hr Author Moderator Clemson also has SMU, Duke, and FSU at home, and road games at Louisville and South Carolina, both teams it lost to at home last season. After A&M, the only games that could be troublesome for the Irish are SC in South Bend, and at Arkansas and Pitt. Other than No. 19 A&M, there are no currently ranked teams on ND's schedule.Assuming the PO Ct. truly values SOS, LSU had the best win of the weekend, taking down No. 4 Clemson on the road. That's a CBB Quad 1+ win. LSU plays Florida, South Carolina, and A&M in Baton Rouge. Road games at Ole Miss, Bama, and Oklahoma will be tough. That's six games of the next 11 games vs. six teams currently ranked in the AP top 25. GULP!

They give some credence for media like ESPN, Yahoo, Fox etc to have some fodder to throw out to those interested. In the end the only poll that counts is the one that comes out on Tuesday Nov 4th every other one that comes out from the CFP after that one.
3 hours ago3 hr The infamy of the "Texas is BACK!" call was when they beat ND in the 1st game of the season. It turned later that both teams sucked.1 data point doesn't make a trend. We'll just have to see a few more games to even begin to have an idea of how good these first wins and losses really are. That's why I'm fine with the rankings right, because as long as they are in the ballpark of reasonableness they did fine.
