Sure, Rutgers doesn’t sit atop the Big Ten rankings; they aren’t even a ranked team, but they are certainly a better team than Oregon State and Oklahoma State (which Oregon disposed of with relative ...The Duck Defense Flies In Sync Two Sites: FishDuck and the Our Beloved Ducks forum, The only "Forum with Decorum!" The photos are terrific.247 Sports Cumulative Roster Rankings - Oklahoma State 49, Rutgers 53, Oregon State 60.Yet, as you so noted, up to Saturday, Greg Schiano was getting more out of the Rutger's roster, by far, than Mike Gundy (adios), and Trent Bray (sayonara.) The other coaches in the conference have to be really happy about inviting OBD to the party. 😁 I shouldn't go there, but coming into the season, Cig's roster was a not so smoking 72. 😧When you have Oregon's talent and it's working together - 😍😍😍Thanks again. Monday at 04:26 PM1 day Administrator No. Thank you David for the information about our defense, as I had watched this QB and Rutgers in two earlier games, and while I thought the 'Knights' pass defense was lacking....that QB was pretty good. Our defense made him look average, and I was pretty surprised. I love the article, as everyone is thinking offense without recalling the impact the defense made on this game. IMHO...the interception by Aaron Flowers was actually caused by another tipped pass at the LOS. Sometimes a defensive lineman doesn't block the ball, but touching the football as it is going by and he tips or pushes it slightly upward.I believe this happened as I noted the ball path and trajectory changed and sailed high past the LOS, which allowed for the Flowers pick. Flowers did not make an extraordinary play; the ball came to him.I say this to give the defensive line that much more credit. They had a heck of a game! Mr. FishDuck
Monday at 05:11 PM1 day No. David thank you for the article and placing some focus on the dominating play of OBD's defense.......Most national articles written just rave about the 750 yards of offense and all the long runs and TD passes. Deservably earned......However,The D just kept giving the O the ball back time and time again. After the Duck turnover on the 3rd play of the game, the D gave up ZERO yards and set the tone for the rest of the game. When DL came to Oregon, this is the kind of D play that I hoped for. Chaos and havoc (just like my first wife) resulting in 3 picks, 3 sacks, multiple TFL's, tipped balls at LOS, tight coverage all day. Just wreck the opponent like my ex did!The only way to improve on this is to shut out Whisky and put some points on the board. Aren't we due for a scoop and score?Go Ducks....

Deservably earned......It's hard to rack up that many yards if your offense doesn't have the ball as often as it does. I looked up the game that has the record yards and that was Cal at Oregon in 2015 for 777 yards. The Score of that one was Cal 28 and Oregon 44. A lot more of a shootout type of game than a blow out. Basically to hit records yards either the defense needs to be really good or quite bad. In this case the defense played very well and kept the ball in the hands of the offense. Even though the time of possession (now a mostly meaningless stat) was slightly in favor of Rutgers 32 mins.

But remember Rutgers has a pretty bad defense but their offense has been pretty good. Producing 300 yards through the air and a QB who has been throwing at close to 70% was reduced to sub 100 passing and only a 30% completion. So yes their defense sucks but their offense has kept them in games. So don't completely write this one off. But it's a stepping stone.

That year, Oregon's defense gave up 742 yards and 37 first downs to 6-7 ASU (in a win).In Oregon's two OT games, it's defense faced 108 and 105 snaps (the most faced so far this year has been 69). 6 of the 13 games the defense gave up 500+ yards (including 742 and 641). This year so far the most it has allowed has been 326 by Indiana. That Cal game was Jared Goff's first game at Cal after going over 10,000 career passing yards. Oregon rushed for 477 yards, 180 for Royce (6.2), 101 for Brooks-James (14.4), and 94 for Benoit (11.8). VA had 300 yards passing and 4 TDs (but had the odd stat of having two passes intercepted in the endzone). Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by AnotherOD
