Okay. I know Lupoi and Stein are tough grown men, but I can’t help but wonder and be concerned about whether they are at their bests to coach today. It is what it is at this point.

Admittedly, they have each been duel tasking between the Ducks, and Cal and Kentucky respectively, for several weeks. They likely have had 20 hour work days or even pulled an all-nighter or two along the way.

Now they have traveled three time zones and spent a couple of nights in hotels and foreign conference centers with the team while balancing media and game preparations.

Are they really at their best, or does the compounded workload and pressures imperil their best thinking and sideline performance? I want to think they have lived in that world for years and are at the top of their craft. But I just keeping thinking that the past weeks have taken a toll on the Ducks’ OC and DC that might show up today.

It wouldn’t shock me if much of the work load has already been shifted to their replacements already on staff.

There may be an element of truth to Stein and Lupoi individually candle burning at both ends. Here's why I don't think it makes much difference.

  1. DL set the standard by the way he helped lead Georgia to the NC as DC.

  2. The player schedules are run by a network of trainers that optimize sleep time. I would imagine even with the intense game planning the coaches are practicing some of what they preach.

  3. The new OC and DC are already in place and will have a lot do with plans on both sides of the ball.

  4. Ohana. The players are invested not only in their own success, but in those of their coaches.

  5. DL has repeatedly said "You can sleep when you're dead". While maybe not sound medical advice, it is part of the culture at Oregon. Hard work and sacrifice.

Much got said about the relative failings of the defense (and a little of the offense) in the second half against JMU. How it could be that Lupoi (and Stein) may not have had their heads and hearts fully engaged. Almost everything I saw in that second half of concern was more a matter of focus and execution, not scheme. I think Oregon will be fine from the standpoint of the coaching staff for today.

They're young. Adrenaline will kick in.

Hats off to er, Mario? He made the coordinator hire of the year, bringing in off the radar Corey Hetherman from Minnesota.

Ducks PO seeding luck, why not play the Canes on their home field in the title game? 🤪 As the higher seed, will OBD have the home team locker room?

I despise the Sheriff of Fansville and tedious reviews of plays that shouldn't be reviewed to begin with. Thus, I'm on a two-hour tape delay, but I'll be back to rue, or hopefully savor, today's game.

And OH(io), the Buckeyes need a better play caller. 😁

WRECK TECH!

It does not really matter if they are at their best because they are OBD's best chance at winning today. I'm glad they agreed to stay throughout the playoffs.

I share the concern of the original topic post. I’d prefer their full attention, or have them move on and let the new guys give their full attention.

I prefer full attention.

Don't forget they no longer have to recruit Oregon players, so some amount of work being done is just a swap.

Still, mental focus requires mental rest. Tests show a really tired driver can drive as bad as a drunk driver, so it's a thing.

After spitting the bit vs. JMU, I think Tosh had his full attention on OBD, and OBD's D. 👍👍👍

TX Tech has a tremendous defense. On D, TT had many NFL players on the field today.

That was an old school LOS battle.

The only disappointment I have, the Orange Bowl was not sold out. These two teams deserved Moore, and More.
