Yesterday at 02:57 AM1 day No. Leas then 10 percent oregon fans in Atlanta, curious what happened. Hear rumors Indiana but our tickets off our own site, could this have been true, or we just dont travel any more?
Yesterday at 03:17 AM1 day No. I think a lot of people were not convinced we would win, it's a long trip to Atlanta, and those that have the means to go were hoping to save money in anticipation of going to Miami the next week. Indiana is doing this for the first time with a much bigger alumni base which is much closer to Atlanta. I don't think Oregon will travel well to these games out East, it's a lot to ask families who have taken these trips in the past.
Yesterday at 03:38 AM1 day Moderator No. $$$$$Without the benefit of Uncle Phil's private aircraft, perhaps Oregon fans were hoping to spend their money on a trip to Miami to watch the champ game instead of the Orange Bowl.850,000 living Indiana alums have not seen good football played consistently from 1887 until the last two seasons. They are feasting on the chance to follow their No. 1-ranked team.OBD has 253,000 living alumni.393 miles - distance from Bloomington, IN to Atlanta. Piece of cake drive for students with a couple of cases of lager on board. A short flight that isn't a budget buster.2179 miles - distance from Eugene to Atlanta. If the CFB PO were reseeded like the NFL PO, Oregon's game against Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix would have been well attended by Oregon fans. Ole Miss had far more fans on hand than Miami.Indiana fans would have dwarfed Miami fans in attendance at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. The two remaining top seeds would have had the opportunity to play each other for the title, not just to win a semifinal game. For so long as this Bowl Extravaganza is produced and directed by Disney/ESPN, West Coast teams will be at a travel disadvantage.Next season, in a rare Western setting, Las Vegas hosts the title game. If OBD gets there, Allegiant Stadium will be a sea of green.
Yesterday at 03:46 AM1 day No. If you have been part of a program that has the 102nd wins record in NCAA history, your attitude is that you are going to buy as many tickets as you want - Rose, Peach, Miami home game. Because, for 100 years you've been nothing and you can mentally amortize the cost over those 100 years of nothing. The Oregon fans that have the means to have traveled to Fiesta Bowls, Rose Bowls, Holiday Bowls, etc. will have a different attitude about how much to spend to go to CFP games near the Eastern Seaboard.
Yesterday at 08:48 AM1 day No. I’m more surprised anyone would be surprised by this…pretty sure there weren’t any shenanigans or Duck fans getting outfoxed for tickets. Is there an example of a game east of the Mississippi where we ever had even 25% in the stands? For an old PAC school, I’d say we travel decently overall, but nothing compared to what most B1G do. Yesterday at 10:26 AM1 day No. I stand by my assessment while there, 60:1 ratio IU to Oregon fans. All the above made a perfect storm, coupled with previous CFP game for them being the Rose Bowl and this the first one within easy striking distance. When I close my eyes, I can still hear the damn “Hoo, hoo, hoo, Hoosiers!” chant…

17 hours ago17 hr Moderator No. As Coach Cig has said, this is all kind of surreal. Indiana grad, Saturday Down South's Connor O'Gara, wholeheartedly agrees. Do not be surprised if more Indiana fans are rocking hard in Hard Rock than the Canes' fans. Saturday Down SouthI'm an Indiana graduate who still can't find the words to...IU's run to the College Football Playoff National Championship is hard to fathom for plenty of folks, most notably IU grads.
17 hours ago17 hr No. The Midwest has notoriously bad winters. January and February are the worst months, by far. Snow isn't even the worst. It's the rainy, 38 degree days. That turns to freezing rain, and black ice. The wind chill rolls through you, no matter how layered you think you are sufficiently, you're not.Huge alumni bases everywhere. Trust me, I've seen them in Florida, Texas, California, Arizona, North Carolina. From Iowa, to Michigan, to Ohio State, Penn State, and now Indiana in football.Anywhere you go, you probably have a midwestern B1G alumnus or fan as a neighbor.

13 hours ago13 hr No. Money... money and more money problems. Just like most things college football the west coast is pretty isolated from the rest of college football world. The only major bowl game on the west coast has been the Rose Bowl. Oregon fans in Oregon had to travel to the Georgia which was going to be a far more expensive plane ticket than anything in Indiana and then there is hotel fair and all the other things that go into it. Additionally... the game was on a Friday night which means taking off more work for travel. Indiana was a shorter flight but also fans could conceivably DRIVE there.

1 hour ago1 hr Moderator No. 9 minutes ago, David Marsh said:I think it probably would have been better just to hold the game at Indiana and probably more Oregon fans would have shown up.Amen! Far fewer Hoosier fans would have been in attendance. Using the NFL format, Indiana would have hosted Miami, and OBD would have hosted an SEC ream for the first time since Tennessee came West, Ole Miss. Sigh.Even with the game in Miami, I think Indiana has the chance to win Monday night's champ game attendance battle. With apologies to Charles Dickens (not Fischer 😁), this is likely CFB's worst of times and also the best of times. It's not Ohio State vs. Notre Dame. Instead, a somnambulant championship program with the chance to be the lowest seed to win a title, and a program that only woke up for the last two seasons since 1887, are playing for The Prize. A team with the composite 72nd-ranked roster is in the running for a championship. Huh?1980 Miracle on Ice redux? Nah. The team without a Blue Chip Roster is the favorite? This will be a battle between the hometown Heisman winner versus the homegrown head coach, who happened to play high school football with the Heisman winner's Dad. This unrealistic script would be rejected by every studio in Hollywood. After all, the Hickory High Hoosiers, coached by Norman Dale, not Gene Hackman, and led by Jimmy Chitwood, did win a championship. Will Curt Cignetti measure the field before kickoff?Forget the Buckeyes and the Irish; ticket prices for this game are at an all-time high. And there will be millions more viewers tuning in on Monday night than watched last season's Blue Blood championship battle.Go Hoosiers! Make it a B1G Three in a Row!

So we have two which is probably what we should have considering the amount of teams out here compared to rest of the country. The problem is that the Rose Bowl is a much more attractive bowl compared to the Peach, Cotton, or the Orange bowl in my opinion.Better city to visit, more historical prestige, better venue in terms of pre-game. I think playing historical blue-bloods is also more attractive to the common fan. For instance if we were playing a historical team that we hadn't played before I think the game would have attracted more fans even if it was thought we would most likely lose. Our fans have been asked to pay a lot of money compared to others over the years considering the distance of both bowl games and conference championship games. In the end though the solution is to have games at college sites until the semi-finals. It only makes sense.
19 minutes ago19 min No. Fan since 1967 and don't remember the Ducks ever having the most fans at a bowl game. Any willing to spend the money were probably hoping to get to the Championship Game.
