If a player or team wanted to they could easily find 3 games for a player to sit out in order to preserve the redshirt. This seems especially unfair when you think about how other sports don't have this, so on top of all the things that football players get compared to other "student" athletes they also get another year of eligibility.
1 hour ago1 hr No. Be interesting to see the unintended consequences. At first blush, I think this lessens the importance of the portal a smidge. You can now legitimately use first year frosh as depth, which should make it tougher for relative second tier portal players to find a landing spot…which might reduce the number of players entering the portal. We shall see
