Owning the West in Recruiting?

Recommended Posts

In another thread a desire to "own the west" was mentioned in regards to recruiting.

Within the Pac 12 footprint, excluding California (the obvious dominant one), what states do you think have been supplying Oregon with their most and with their best recruits?

Once again, excluding California, what states within the Pac12 footprint are producing, in general, the most recruits or the most enticing recruits?

Adding more pain to the Huskies, Washington has been producing talent in basketball and football, JTT last season, Josh Connerly this season.

I think Utah produces the best overall football talent. These kids know how to play the game and there is a passion for the game you don't always see with some of the coddled recruits.

The Utah area should be recruited without the star rating so closely followed.

The other area is Hawaii, and the whole Polynesian culture should be given a renewed focus. Again the Poly players have a passion for the game you don't see with all players. They sometimes develop later too, so keep that a focus too.

Will Tukuafu was one of my favorite out of Utah. A young man who went the Community College route before Oregon, and ended up having a pretty decent NFL career.

We need to recruit passion and potential. With good coaching it will all work itself out.

Utah, Arizona, and Nevada has been producing good talent for Oregon.  Colorado as well sometimes.

$. How much do you have? How much are you willing to spend on recruits? A+M set the bar at $70M plus.

In terms of a loose ranking...

California (as you mentioned)

Utah

Arizona

Nevada (not technically in the Pac-12 footprint as it has no member schools but close enough)

Oregon / Colorado  (these two are relitively equal for us I feel)

Washington
