January 15, 20223 yr Author Moderator The last time Oregon beat No.3 and No.5 on the road in the same weekend, or season, was...Never. I've never thought much about USC basketball. UCLA is basketball, USC is football. Evan Mobley, POTY last year is gone from the Trojans, but his brother, Isaiah, one of 4 Trojans to average in double figures, is back.
January 15, 20223 yr Man, USC doesn't scare me. Just looked at their schedule and all their wins are against the likes of Dixie State, Cal State Northridge, St. Joseph's (non-conference) and against the dregs of the conference (Cal, OSU, WSU, Utah). We need to stop the shooters, especially Drew Peterson (killed us last year, I believe). We can finally match them in size this year (Bittle should get some more minutes) and Isaiah is the worse Mobley anyway. We got a great chance boys, let's get 'er done. What I would pay to see the look on Enfield's face after we avenge last year's loss at SC.

You're right about the schedule, and the Trojans are struggling; they were losing to the Beaves with 5:00 before pulling away, lost to Stanford. The Ducks have to take this game over early, in the empty Galen Center.
January 15, 20223 yr Oh, are there no fans again? That is sweet, it only helps. Loved being able to hear the loud Ducks bench every time they made a good play against UCLA.
January 16, 20223 yr Walton said SC’s Boogie Ellis is “the real deal”. Tonight, we shall see. Jacob Young also has been looking like “the Real Deal”, lately. Ducks were a team in search of a leader. I think they’ve found him in Young. Edited January 16, 20223 yr by Duckdude
January 16, 20223 yr Author Moderator Ducks have controlled the game so far, a 10-2 run by USC got the Trojans within 7 at one point, but a 3 by Richardson go the lead back to 10., and a 3 by Williams at the buzzer gives the Ducks their biggest lead, 16, 45-29.
January 16, 20223 yr Ducks playing well and keeping Mobley in check for the most part. Richardson is shooting the threes lights out in this game. Gotta stay home with Boogie.
January 16, 20223 yr Ducks dominated first half!!! WithOUT Young scoring! But…..providing the energy and the threat of scoring. Sets it up much better for Richardson…..who has delivered bigtime: 19 in first half alone! I hope they only heat up more after halftime. SC will be bringing it. ‘Sco Ducks!!!
January 16, 20223 yr Author Moderator Okay, the most important minutes of a game are the first 5 of the second half. The team behind can use them to get back in it, the team ahead, can really put it out of reach by building on their lead, just do it, Ducks.
January 16, 20223 yr Williams made that 30 footer, step back three at end the half, look so effortless.

January 16, 20223 yr Guerrier made a much needed 3! Hold ‘em off, Ducks!! Gotta just hold ‘em off for the last 8 minutes!!! Edited January 16, 20223 yr by Duckdude
January 16, 20223 yr That's the only points in the last four minutes. Oregon's offense is stalling. Richardson needs to take over. Young playing a little out of control.
January 16, 20223 yr Nice to get some fouls called in Oregon's favor... The Ducks need to attack the rim more.
January 16, 20223 yr Author Moderator Fortunately, the Ducks also lead in points in the paint tonight.

Think we saw it following that USC inbound pass on our end of the court that we jammed into a shot clock expiration. The camera went to Enfield, and you can read his lips saying, “what the f**k are you doing!”.
January 16, 20223 yr Author Moderator It really came down to defense. Oregon held USC to 41.7% shooting overall, 33.3% on 3's, while Oregon shot 50.0% overall, and 47,6% on 3's. USC had a couple of runs while the Ducks missed some shots, but both times, not for long.

Like Dana said, it wasn’t like some magic pill; it was effort — playing harder, and that always starts on defense. No matter when it finally happens, it sure is exciting when Altman gets the engine tuned!
January 16, 20223 yr And it looks like Dana has tightened the rotation as only 8 players saw the court against UCLA and USC. The same 8 guys!! Richardson, Harmon, Dante, Gurrier, and Young started both games with Soares, Kepnang, and Williams Jr coming off the bench.

Good catch, Bittle was improving, but his development and value will now be furthered in practices, which are very important.
