Oregon Has Moved Up to No. 24 with Rivals for 2022

Recommended Posts

With the reclassification of Kyler Kasper to 2022, it brings our total of 4&5-Stars to seven to move us up.  However we are No. 2 in the conference to Arizona; the Wildcats have fewer of the 4&5-Stars, (Five) but have a total class of 23, while the Ducks have 17.  So more volume...even of 3-Stars adds more points.  In a normal year where we sign 22-25...we kill it.

Bottom line? Getting seven 4&5-Star players, (which is better than two of three Helfrich years) and add the Portal transfers, and done with a short recruiting season with a new coach?

Prettay, prettay good!

Haven't been paying that much attention to the rating agencies but will defer to those who have been. Wouldn't it be a better qualifier to rate the production of the players to see if they match the projected stars if even possible.

Yes, it would.....also to rate the efficacy of the individual scouts/raters

As someone who has followed recruiting very closely since I retired, I can tell you that the recruiting agencies are really not anywhere near the gospel on a players likely success in football, at least.

At Georgia, the staff pays far more attention to the staff's evaluation of players, which are often at wide variance with the agencies.

Case in point: Bulldawgs defensive linemen Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt will be first-round picks in the NFL draft on April 28 after having entered Georgia as middle of the road 3-star recruits. Tray Scott, Georgia's defensive line coach, went to bat for both of them over much higher rated prospects because he thought sky was the limit for the each of them.

Plus, the pay recruiting sites pull all sorts of crap like stealing a recruiting star from several 5-stars who were already committed to elevate  uncomitted 4-stars to generate "clicks" from fans of the teams in the running for these newly arisen 5-stars. The ability to generate "clicks"  is one primary means by which recruiting analysts are evaluated The top teams do indeed trust their own evaluations of players.

Charles, fully understand why you like Rivals.

FYI and FWIW, 247 updated rankings has these Pac-12 teams in the top 40 -

13. Oregon - up 3 spots with the new commits

19. Stanford

22. Arizona

38. Utah

USC comes in No. 10 in 247's combined recruiting and transfer rankings.
