Mike West No. 1 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Is it just me, or does anyone else think Brandon Dorlus is an interior line specialist instead of a defensive end? I have seen a serious drop in production from him. He s looks out of position often, and hasn't really been an impact to me this season. In years past, he was a beast inside. I'm just not impressed with Dorlus this year. Am I want off base here? I'm seeing a "Fat Mac" kind of mistake moving him to DE so he could raise his NFL stock. He definitely has not created many havoc plays like he used to. I'm curious to hear your opinions about Brandon Dorlus. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Charles Fischer Administrator No. 3 Share Posted October 22, 2022 It is also possible that Brandon Dorlus is making a transition to a position better suited to the NFL, as many teams are implementing the 4-0-4 defensive alignment I discuss in today's FishDuck article right here. But I am guessing, as what I suspect is that Lanning is installing his defense, and trying to make the players fit until he gets his prototypes for each position? An example is Noah Sewell; as none of the Georgia linebackers were as big as him. In fact the star LB for the Bulldogs was only 217 lbs., as Lanning likes his linebackers lean, fast and athletic for pass rushing and pass coverage. But again...I am guessing about the position. But I will have an analysis about Dorlus in the near future... Sewell ran a 4.58 40yd. Above average for LB's. He has been pedestrian so far this year. Not sure why. It probably is hard to factor in how much the departure of KT influences the rest of the DL spots (he just attracted a lot of attention and pushed the pocket - even on plays he didn't record any numbers). As well, seldom mentioned, Popo missing the season has impacted the DL as well. The guys playing there have done well (Riley seems to have had a couple very good games); but, Popo was both AP and PFF 1st team All-Pac-12 last year.
