Ah, now the dense one (me) get's it!  I mean, Oregon IS a university and spelling standards have to be kept up!  lol

I wonder if they are like my current freshmen who think that there the smartest. 🤨

Don't all Freshmen think that?  It's kinda why the word 'Freshman' fits 'em.

The first time I heard it pronounced that way was when HC Jerry Green was at Oregon. I think he’s from North Carolina.

As others have said, Dan Lanning pronounces program, "progrum". Listen to his introductory press conference when he got hired.
