Dante isn't a lock for UCLA IMO. They are bringing in a portal QB. Oregon is also bringing an outstanding Portal roster so far. Just hang on folks, let the handwringing commence after Wednesday. I want them all, but if we get 2/5 we should be ecstatic. Oregons offense with BONIX next year is going to be favored to win the PAC, even with Caleb Williams in the conference. Duck On!!! Mic No. 154 Share Posted December 18, 2022 It's all too easy to get focused on recruits and who's signing, who's not. But it's the "team" the coaches build out of what players they have - and how they get them all pulling in the same direction that really matters. I believe Oregon State and Utah both should serve as ample examples of what good coaching can do with the players they get, which are never anywhere near the top 25 year, in and year out.. I also think Notre Dame can serve as the same example (in the opposite direction) of what marginal coaching can do with the great players they get. ND is always in the top 20 if not the top 10 or higher. One of the most under-achieving teams in the nation if one considers the player talent on their teams, year in and year out. I have this dim memory of an absolute thrashing the Beavers put on ND a number of years ago in the Fiesta Bowl. If one were to compare the two team's recruiting classes leading up to that season, on paper the game should have been a total washout for OSU. Instead, it was ND who got washed out, big time. I'm gonna wait and see who Coach Lanning & Co. can get on-board and watch them develop those players into the best team they can. I rather expect the results will be pleasing to most of us. Of course you want the best talent you can get but you had better be able to coach those young men and teach them how to win or you have a lot of disappointed players, fans and alumni - not to mention lost seasons. I'll bet on Lanning making something great out of what he has and stop worry9ing about those recruits who "got away".
Mic No. 155 Share Posted December 19, 2022 Pleasantly, in respect to above, both Utah and Oregon State are now, finally getting the national recognition their coaches and teams deserve. Both are now in the Top 25 recruiting as of this week's standings. But this hasn't always been the case. What this means for Oregon is stiff competition up ahead. As if the competition hasn't been stiff already! 1
AnotherOD No. 156 Share Posted December 19, 2022 It's kind of the rarely mention topics in recruiting rankings discussions. Oregon State and Utah win with "three stars" and yet as soon as they have a shot with higher ranked players, they chase them like everyone else. Rarely see a sign either program finds a top 250 kid who is interested who they ignore. Not to say there isn't something to finding gems who are willing to work and be developed; and, these staffs may be more willing to chase players seen as "projects" who they feel they can win with; but, Utah fans are loving their two top 170 OL commits (Fano and Lomu) and OSU is loving their two top 300 commits (QB Chiles and DL Howard).

Has Proctor said anything, someone close to him said anything, or do they just assume that he will flip to the most recent visit? Whenever someone visits Bama, the bandwagon predictors automatically start saying Bama. Sometimes that happens, often it doesn't! I'm not convinced. If Jayden Limar flips, this is what RB room would look like... There is always room to upgrade. Before the season started we thought we had a pretty loaded running back room with guys coming back. Then Irving, Whittington and James showed we could be better. Will Dowdell and Limar do the same this year? There's always room for an upgrade. Who knows how this group will turn out. If nothing else James, Dowdell and Limar are developing to take over when Bucky and Noah are done. In any case this running back room looks really good!

Pennsylvania Duck Moderator No. 164 Share Posted December 20, 2022 Recruiting Watch: Potential Oregon flips and commitments a day out from early signing period While there are still a lot of uncommitted prospects out there who will be making their final decisions known, some of the biggest fireworks on Wednesday could end up coming from top recruits who are currently committed to one school, but announce that they are flipping to another. We expect the Ducks to sign a star-studded class on Wednesday based on the guys who are currently committed and locked into the program, and there’s a chance that it could get even better with a couple of late additions that Oregon is still working hard to get.
