7-0 Ducks after six innings. Collin Clarke has a very tough changeup...even when they know it is coming. He went 1-2-3 and now has dispensed with 13 of the last 14 batters faced. GREAT pitching!

7-0 Ducks after five innings. Collin Clarke is in a zone, as he is throwing strikes to retire 10 of the last 11 batters. Only 63 pitches after five innings... Angel Laya hits a line drive that hits first base and bounces awkward, but it holds him to a single. Jack Brooks sacrifice-bunts to advance Laya to second. Ryan Cooney hits into a hole in RF to move Laya to third and get Cooney on base. Jax Gimenez does a perfect sacrifice-bunt down the first-baseline to score Laya!

6-0 Ducks after four innings. Collin Clarke gave up his first walk of 2026, and then Maddox Molony made a superb fielding play as SS to deliver a sweet double-play! Jax Gimenez gets a hit, and Dominic Hellman walks. Gabe Miranda gets plinked to load the bases. Molony hits a sacrifice fly to score Gimenez, and the Ducks strand two runners again.

5-0 Ducks after three innings. Collin Clarke went 1-2-3, and seems to got his control down further. Gabe Miranda has a big-hit reputation, and was batting cleanup...but we had not seen the big bat until now. He had a sweet swing to make the ball bonk on the practice facility roof past RF. Maddox Molony hits a screamer down the 3rd baseline to get a double. Then another bat came to life as Burke-Lee Mabeus hit a two-run homer at the top of the roof of the practice facility. Whew! We needed both those bats to come around...

Newest Nike Sneaker Release Calls Back to Popular Oregon Ducks UniformOne of the most creative uniforms for the Oregon Ducks' victory at Penn State, the Mummy Duck brand gets a revival with a new sneaker colorway, opening the door for a black version of the mummy-themed gear. The Dark Mode Mummy Duck VaporpositesAccording to sneaker-focused social media accounts @zsneakerheadz, @sneakermarketro, and @brandon1an, the new "Mummy Duck" sneakers feature a black and dark grey base ("Black / Barely Volt / White" is the colorway name) in contrast with the Oregon athlete exclusive white and off-white bandage design. Though an actual photo of the new sneaker has yet to be released, mock-ups shared by Women's Wear Daily detail what this upcoming Duck design will look like. Nike has not confirmed the reports about the release. Similar to the original player-exclusive releases, the expected new color wave will potentially include greenish yellow glow-in-the-dark elements like the soles, tongue pull, and other smaller details as well as the same bandage pattern, frayed fabric around a raised Nike check on the sides, and the "Mummy Duck" logo of the Oregon Duck mascot in bandages on the back heel. Is ‘Flexible Symmetry’ the Answer to Big-10 Scheduling?
OK here's the map. Geographically there's a natural break at Lake Michigan, 10 teams west and 8 teams east. Take your pick of Wisconsin, Northwestern or Illinois and move them to the east side and you have 9 on each side. Easy geography. HOWEVER, this in no way works competively with Indiana, Michigan, OSU and PSU all on the east side. You can swap some border teams around to try and get some competitive parity, but it's a real problem because Michigan, OSU and PSU sit in the center of the east side. It's hard to split Michigan and OSU, but it could be done with a rivalry guaranty. I just think it's a hard sell. Similarly that applies to Michigan/MSU. That said, I think the best split would be: West East fuskies Minnesota OBD Northwestern USC Illinois UCLA Indiana Nebraska Purdue Iowa OSU Wisconsin PSU Michigan Rutgers MSU Maryland Not sure why my columns didn't work, this is a little cluttered but you get the picture.

Quack! Quack! Dayton Raiola Commits to Oregon, Reunited With Brother in Eugene
It's not just the talent coming out of high school that matters. Indiana proved that the last two years. How good are the players now? How well do the units play together? How good is the team as a cohesive whole? Bryce Boettcher didn't add anything to Oregon's star ratings, but he will be drafted into the NFL in a couple months. A talented roster doesn't just mean what the team members were 3 years ago. How are they today?

The biggest travesty was not including Justin Herbert in the list. Top 100 since 2000, and he's not on it? As noted, that would have made Oregon 3rd on this list. JH stats at Oregon: Passing yds. 10,541 Comp rate. 64% TD. 95 Int. 23 Rushing yds. 541 Rushing TD. 13 wth kind of criteria did the ES(ec)PN "brain trust" use to exclude him? Same as the idiot that claimed before the draft that Herbert would get some coach fired.

Oregon faced a great starting pitcher yesterday who only gave up one unearned run in six innings. Today we face Penguin pitcher Jack Messmore, a senior RHP, who also had an incredible game last week against Auburn where he scattered six hits in six scoreless innings versus the Tigers. This will be a tall-test for Oregon's starter Collin Clarke to keep up, and it looks to be another low-scoring nail-biter today. In the end, it was the relievers for Youngstown State yesterday that gave up the most, and I hoping for the same today--and I think our batters are better. Collin Clarke

B1G Ten Baseball Results From Week One
I can report from Indiana they lose a game to UNC in extra inning when their relief corp can't hold a lead after the 7th inning. They did the same thing against LSU when leading the game in the 8th. The most bizarre loss though was that extra inning game at UNC. IU has the lead in the 9th, routine ground ball to 2B and he did a "Steve Sax Dodgers" throw ... where the ball didn't even make it halfway to 1B for the out. UNC ties the game after that throw and wins in 11 innings with a walk off HR. I don't think you have to worry about the Hoosiers being "a contender" in baseball.

I know "stars" don't mean anything to Cignetti but I would die for recruiting classes like you have over the years.

Who Do YOU Believe the Oregon Ducks Are?
The thing that has helped Cig compared to other coaches, his DC and OC have been with him for over 10 years. He did lose his strength and conditioning coach last month to Tennessee and then replaced him with another that had been on his previous staffs as an assistant SC. Then what he talks about a lot "alignment from the top to bottom". He means from the school president down to the janitor in the football complex. Everybody on the same page. How many of you know that in Cignetti's contract from the time he stepped on campus in 2024 it states that IF either the AD or school Prez leave for any reason, fired or otherwise, then Cignetti is a free-agent and his buy-out is cut in half immediately. The AD has been there since he was a Bob Knight basketball student manager. Their school Prez just got a huge pay raise and contract extension this past week. So things look good in that direction. I guess it took IU over a 110 years to realize that good football teams make a LOT of money for everything else on campus. You cannot have anything closer to compare with Cig's success than this year or next two years than UCLA ... Chesney comes from JMU like Cignetti, brings 10 players with him and 7 of those 10 were All-Conference players. Two differences though ... Chesney has not been a head coach as long as Cignetti and UCLA's football history is better than IU's was. For example ... I use to buy tickets from my scalper friend outside the IU stadium and sit between the 40's, no higher than row 20. I'd have enough room to stretch my legs forward in the row in front of me and lean back like I was in a recliner watching IU football. That is how bad some years were. In all honesty ... from beautiful Southwestern Indiana ... Oregon has more than any team in the nation to win the 2026 Natty. The coaching, the returning players, the portal class and an outstanding ranking recruiting class. IMO it will not matter who wins that game in Columbus OH because by the end of the year the Ducks will be clicking on all cylinders for their Natty Run. Yes, as a Hoosier alum and life long fan ... I believe the Ducks are the team to beat for the 2026 Natty.
