Dark Knight vs Whiteout: Oregon vs Penn State
Speaking of not being happy with BIG scheduling: Both Ohio State and Penn State (the BIG's favored children) have bye weeks before playing the northwest teams. Adding insult to injury, the favored Nittany Lions play at home following their bye week with Oregon traveling 3,000 miles. Talk about stacking the deck. Oh well, I think Lanning uses it to dial in his boys and we win in spite of the BIG powers that be. Go Ducks!

Dark Knight vs Whiteout: Oregon vs Penn State
I am split on how I feel about that SC/ND series ending. On one hand I'm sad to see traditional rivalries die. But on the other USC has a tough conference slate every year. Notre Dame can make their own schedule and still get their own reserved seat at the playoff table Florida is cancelling planned series vs ASU, NCSU, and Washington due to going to a 9 game conference slate next year. I'm disappointed because I live close to ASU and would've loved to see Florida come out here. I don't get many chances to see them live now that I'm 2,000 miles away and they don't leave SEC territory. But with nine SEC games along with FSU and Miami coming onto the schedule more, that's 11 P4 matchups. When the playoff inevitably expands I think we'll get a three loss or maybe even four loss SEC/B1G squad in. Personally I think three should be the maximum.

More Surprises: Oregon Linebacker Jerry Mixon...Big-10 Defensive Player of the Week?
A good example of a player that was not on the radar from his previous play far exceeding expectations. Congrats Mr. Mixon.

More Surprises: Oregon Linebacker Jerry Mixon...Big-10 Defensive Player of the Week?
I feel linebacker has improved this year. They have to do SO much that they can get kinda lost in the course of the defense. At times it feels like they're a DB and if they're not getting their name called that's a good thing because the ball isn't being thrown their way.

A Little Duck Humor at the Expense of the BEAVERS
Do I need to sit down and do my Old Pac-12 rankings again this year? I did it last year for what I thought was the last time but maybe I revisit it once a year.

A Look Ahead to the Ducks’ 2026 NFL Draft Class
Rarely do I accept a submitted article by one of the SEO companies around the world, as they generally cannot provide anything new for our savvy audience here. But once in a while, (like the one above) they give us something new to ponder, as yes...I think we WILL break the draft record at Oregon this next year. There were some names in his article that I believe will be drafted, but the writer in Dubai, (yep!) did not mention. Bryce Boettcher is one example...can you come up with more?

Bemidji and Minot will face each other on Sept. 27. Even if both lose Sept. 20, the 0-fer Beavers would come to an end.

A Look Ahead to the Ducks’ 2026 NFL Draft Class
They may not match the record 15 players that the Georgia Bulldogs had drafted as part of the 2022 NFL Draft but give credit to the Oregon Ducks for trying! This past spring, the Ducks set a new school record with ten players as part of the 2025 NFL Draft class, and there are thoughts that number will be surpassed ... Poor Rushing Defense: How Realistic Are We?
FWIW CBS Sports Matt Zenitz named Tosh Lupoi as DC of the week so we must be doing something right. Against our first unit NW had 170 yards and 0 points. https://x.com/mzenitz/status/1967601465876467854?s=46&t=xjCowF6XwCIg-xuLARP-5A

More Surprises: Oregon Linebacker Jerry Mixon...Big-10 Defensive Player of the Week?
Boy...I did not see this upside development coming at all! Can you believe his PFF numbers below? Mixon Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon inside linebacker Jerry Mixon was announced as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Ducks' 34-14 win at Northwestern last Saturday. It is the first career Big Ten honor for Mixon and the first for a Duck this season. Mixon continued his breakout start to his junior season in Oregon's Big Ten opener, recording an interception for the second game in a row while matching his career high with five tackles and adding a tackle for loss. He returned the interception 36 yards to set up the Ducks' fourth touchdown of the game. Mixon became the first Duck since Khyree Jackson in 2023 to pick off a pass in back-to-back games. He is tied for sixth nationally and first in the Big Ten with two interceptions and his 62 interception return yards are No. 12 in the country. On the season, Mixon is No. 1 among qualified FBS linebackers with a 91.5 overall defensive grade from Pro Football Focus, and his 92.7 pass coverage grade ranks second among all linebackers. The San Francisco native owns a career-high 10 tackles through three games, and he made his first career start in the season opener against Montana State. Mixon and the No. 6 Ducks (3-0, 1-1 Big Ten) will wrap nonconference play with an in-state showdown against Oregon State on Saturday in Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
