  2. This is not a computer-generated Top 25 ranking. Not ESPN's FPI or SP+. This ranking comes from ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach's wet computer, his brain. Programming unknown. Mark has eight B1G teams in his top 25: 1 Ohio State, 2 OREGON, 6 Indiana, 14 Michigan, 15 Penn State, 17 Washington, 19 Iowa, and 20 USC. Comment from Heritage Hall - Go to 🤬! I think the Trojans have a case. Iowa's schedule is the easiest in the Big Ten, but 18 starters have to be replaced, including the QB, Goronowski, who led the Hawkeyes to a bowl win over 10-2 Vanderbilt. And the Trojans play OBD and Ohio State in LA. Mark's B1G Elite 8 as ranked by College Football News strength of schedule (SOS) rankings from 1 to 138. 6 OREGON, 7 Michigan, 15 USC, 17 Ohio State, 26 UW, 50 Indiana, 51 Penn State, and 55 Iowa. (The Buckeye ranking is lower than on many other sites.) The Hoosiers are not sending out a scheduling SOS. If Penn State finishes 10-2, I believe several 9-3 B1G teams will be better than the Nittany Lions. Iowa State went 8-4 last season. How will the play of the 24 Iowa State players transferring to PSU fare in the Big Ten? I will not be surprised if one or more Big Ten teams outside the top 25 make the PO Committee's final top 25. I like: No. 3 Georgia being ranked above No. 5 Texas. Mississippi 9, Texas A+M 10, and LSU 11, I question. No. 16 Alabama and No. 25 Tennessee both have new starting QBs. Alabama finished 125th in rushing last season. Will the former Oregon coach and new Bama OL coach, Adrian Klemm, make a significant difference? Tennessee hired Jim Knowles as its DC. How did that work out at Penn State last season? Their schedules and talent justify Notre Dame being ranked 4th, and Miami 7th. I believe five B12 teams being ranked is generous. Although Utah's SOS is No. 54, Houston's is 64, and Texas Tech comes in at 65. These four had transferred and demonstrates the type of talent Kelly Graves had on his roster at that time. 9-Angela Dugalic – from UCLA 24-Chance Gray – Ohio St 37-Taylor Bigby – TCU 39-Grace VanSlooten – Michigan St Of the 45 selections, 6 of the first 18 were from UCLA. Four of those 6 were transfers to UCLA. The 4 women who had played at Oregon were in the 45 total. 2 former Beavers who had transferred to UCLA and Oklahoma did not get selected - one was surprisingly Raegan Beers.

  14. Thanks JayOregonBoston for pointing out this important official visit. Most of this link is behind a paywall, but you can see the following: "Oregon Basketball Locks in Official Visit with CAA FOY and 4-star PG Preston EdmeadThe Oregon Ducks have an important visitor coming to town and it's one of the best point guards available.Hofstra freshman guard Preston Edmead, a four-star transfer portal prospect, will begin an official visit to Oregon on Tuesday, DuckTerritory has learned. Edmead's visit to Eugene was confirmed to DuckTerritory by Lerner Sports Group, the sports agency representing him. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound guard would be a significant target for Dana Altman and his staff as Oregon continues its backcourt reload this offseason. The Ducks have major guard needs to address, especially with proven ball-handling, perimeter shot-making and playmaking all at a premium. Edmead checks a lot of those boxes after a standout freshman season at Hofstra. Edmead was one of the top first-year guards in mid-major basketball this past season, earning CAA Rookie of the Year honors, Second Team All-CAA recognition, a spot on the CAA All-Rookie Team and Most Outstanding Player honors in the CAA Championship. He started all 34 games for Hofstra and averaged 15.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while knocking down 90 three-pointers."

  16. EUGENE, Ore. – After leading No. 15 Oregon to a road sweep of Maryland, Lyndsey Grein has been named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This is her third career Big Ten honor and first of 2026. The senior from Mokena, Ill., went 3-0 against the Terrapins. For the weekend, she had a 0.93 ERA in 15 innings pitched. She allowed two runs on seven hits, struck out 25 and walked only two. She gave up only one extra base hit the entire series. In Friday's 11-0 run-rule win, Grein struck out eight in four shutout innings and allowed two hits. She threw four hitless innings in relief on Saturday and struck out seven as the Ducks won 4-3 in eight innings. Sunday, she struck out 10 in a complete game, 8-2 win. Grein, who is 21-4 on the season, leads the Big Ten in strikeouts (164), WHIP (0.94), and opponent batting average (.173), is second in wins and third in ERA (2.15). OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | MONDAY, APRIL 13, 2026 BASEBALL | @OregonBaseball Lauaki earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors EUGENE, Ore. – Heading into the week, Naulivou Lauaki had made just two career starts but that did not stop him from leading Oregon to a series win over No. 19 Nebraska and in turn being named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week. In four starts during the week, the redshirt freshman slashed .471/.471/1.176 with a 1.647 OPS, while going 8-for-15 at the plate with six extra-base hits (3 HR, 3 2B), six RBI and five runs scored. In a midweek start at Portland, Lauaki homered and had two doubles while going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. In the Nebraska series, he slashed .385/.385/.923 with two home runs, a double, five RBI and three runs scored. In a 7-6 win on Friday, Lauaki drove in a pair of runs with a two-out double in the fourth inning to give Oregon a 2-1 lead. On Saturday, the Ducks' DH belted a pair of home runs while also delivering a run-scoring single before finishing 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. In Sunday's series-clinching win he added a hit and run scored. Lauaki is the fourth Oregon player to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors in the Ducks’ two seasons in the conference. Angel Laya earned the honor twice earlier this season, while Burke-Lee Mabeus claimed the honor last season. 28. I am okay sticking with Altman. He deserves another year IMO. My concern is that for every guy you get that makes the jump from G6 to Power 5 like Simpkins did, there is a whole list that do not. Recently for Oregon that list includes RaHeim Moss, Jesse Zarzuela, Amauri Hardy, Aaron Estrada, etc. There are some big time players in the portal, but Oregon is not in the discussion for them right now. I guess that is disappointing.
