  3. Lanning absolutely stocked the shelves with young talent to develop while the portal guys came in and brought results. Now those well stocked shelves will be the heart of his roster the next couple years while the NIL/ direct payment circus plays itself out. How many teams are going to go all in the next couple years and absolutely way over commit too much money to high school 4-5 stars and roster retention when those top dollar recruits inflate the costs of roster retention. When dropping 2-3 mil on a five star high school kid how, does the domino effect play out keeping that four star starter or his four star back up? While other schools crash and burn over committing precious funds, Lanning will still have top flight talent and compete at the highest level with a top end NIL collective that isn't throwing around Monopoly money all over the place. When the right plan of attack presents itself for viable long term success, the UO will be once again well positioned to take the lead and control the narrative.
  4. Players' Agents and Attorneys: Contract Language Attempting to Protect the Schools Making the Payments Goes Too Far. Just because they're being paid, doesn't mean they should give up any of their rights, right? 'This' will end badly for the schools making the 'revenue sharing' payments. 'That's not normal': Florida State's rev-share contracts are raising eyebrows, agents and industry experts say - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Florida State hasn't finalized revenue-sharing contracts for all players yet, and while some top transfers received upfront payments before July 1, others are still waiting—many relying on...

  7. The NCAA, to protect 'amateurism' racked up over half a billion dollars in legal fees. After the House settlement, the NCAA is over $1 billion in the red and, based on a projected balance sheet calculation, the NCAA is functionally insolvent. With the House damages hanging over its head, the NCAA was functionally insolvent before the settlement, and along with the Power 5 conference defendants, could and should have filed for bankruptcy. More legal fees are coming to defend the settlement, starting with Title IX litigation. (To reiterate, the Title IX appeal is not holding up 'revenue-sharing' direct payments to athletes.) How's this for irony? The NCAA president who came up with 'student-athlete', Walter Byers, did not have a college degree. Oregon Duck News: NCAA's Colossal Blunder, Evans gains draft grade, Top B1G o-lines AUTZENZOO.COM A daily rundown of stories, highlights and links in Oregon sports Why is this man smiling? The House settlement saved his job. A bankruptcy filing would have separated the 1,000-plus NCAA members' wheat from the chaff and could have included relief from litigation.

  11. Agree. We need to close on a few of these OL guys. If we do that, I will be happy.
  12. We have 10 verbals right now and with a loaded young team, it makes sense to take maybe 15 or 16 total and save the money for the portal candidates in the future, since there will probably be quite a few of them!
  13. Gonzaga is now going to be Gonzaga State until the end of time for me.

  15. We are quickly approaching the time where Oregon needs to get more aggressive with the NIL. I get their strategy.. or what seems to be their strategy but it's approaching go time for Oregon to take some of these recruits.

  17. All of that is tolerable, but they better not even think about calling it,
  18. Charles is correct. The whole thing with retaining "Pac12" is money related. For example, the Rose Bowl contract is with the Pac12. As a result, OSU/WSU will receive $50M for the 2025 game, and another $50M for the 2026 game. Then, the existing Rose Bowl contract expires. That would have been money split 12 ways. I doubt there is any plan to split that 2026 game money with the new members of the Pac. There is no way OSU/WSU were going to walk away from that by merging with the Mt. West or renaming the conference. There is also some residual value in retaining the logo, web page, office signs, etc. etc. that don't have to be replaced.
  19. The 2027 schedule is brutal. Looking ahead, it will likely be in the most difficult top 10. Six home games will not help the cause. A road game at Baylor is piling on to Michigan in Ann Arbor, along with Nebraska and UW on the road, and Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa in Autzen. If Rob is going to cancel, in fairness to Baylor, it needs to happen soon so both schools can book another game. Replacing the game with a cash payment to Portland State for another home game would be fine with me. An OBD win against a B12 team will not move the PO needle, but a loss will not go unnoticed. Oregon does not need P4 Baylor to goose the 2027 schedule.

Didn't know the SEC coaches wanted to stay with eight conference games. Didn't know the coaches did not want to play a B1G team every season. Didn't know a pamphlet would be sitting there using the ESecPN FPI to justify staying at eight games. This is a B1G pile of disingenuous, deceitful, male, bovine excrement!

  27. There’s a reason they haven’t shared the details of the TV deal. Some unknowns include if they paid extra to entice BSU and SDSU. Don’t forget to throw in Gonzaga getting a full share without a football team. The number I keep hearing is around $65M. Whatever number for a TV deal is finally released is not going to be as clean as dividing by 8.
