USC Demands Major Date Change to Keep Notre Dame Rivalry Alive
woundedknees replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As long as ND can get an invite for the "ND is in if ranked at a designated number or higher", regardless of schedule strength, they have no real incentive for changing. -

Like Paige Sinicki said, "There was no doubt we were going to win this game" after Stanford got a grand slam in the 1st inning, then led 7-3. Incredible performance, and it all worked out, they got their Super Regional. - Today

Jon...your points are more important and valid than what the writer suggested, and yet....I do not think ND will ever join, full-time, a conference. They will continue to play footsie with the ACC because it suits their purposes, IMHO. -

This seems to be registering with the national media. ND has lived a dream for long enough. Who knew it would be SC that would sound the alarm. -

A take in support of SC dropping Notre Dame. Losing Notre Dame-USC is the price of conference realignment, and it is not the Trojans' fault WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM Notre Dame and USC have not come to an agreement to extend their nearly 100-year series, but USC's case for ending it is valid. Having SC on the schedule means more of NBC's money for the Irish and nothing for SC. Money The Irish share with no one. Having SC on the schedule helps with ND's scheduling, even when SC is down, the game's a TV draw, and also helps with ND's recruiting in California. A win-win for ND and not so much for SC. Last season's PO runner-up ND played four G5 opponents. SC is not able to schedule four G6 opponents. And SC plays in a deeper conference than the ACC. -
Analyzing Oregon Football's Latest Offers in the 2026 Recruiting Class Watch this episode on the ScoopDuck YouTube channel Oregon Football’s 2026 class ranks inside the top-five nationally according to the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Dan Lanning and the rest of his staff have a solid handle on their recruiting big board, but we all know recruiting is fluid. As such, Oregon has continued to send out offers in the 2026 recruiting class ahead of official visit season. Some of these offers are at positions of need like offensive line and defensive line, while others could be to help bolster depth on the current roster. Some recruits have been in communication with the Ducks for a while and some of them are just getting started. Many of them have never been to Eugene and are already working on setting up their first recruiting visit since landing the offer. On today’s episode of the Ducks Dish Podcast, ScoopDuck’s Max Torres and Justin Hopkins dive into a few of the latest offers Oregon has sent out across the country. Two recruits discussed in-depth include 3-star Lithonia (Ga.) defensive lineman Tico Crittendon and 3-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Ed W Clark offensive tackle Dominic Harris. The Ducks have four commitments along the defensive line in the 2026 class, but zero commitments along the offensive line after 4-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene flipped from Oregon to Washington earlier this month. Crittendon and Harris both boast over 30 reported scholarship offers and their play on the field as seniors this season could lead to them receiving a boost in both the final ratings and rankings for the the 2026 class. PODCAST: Analyzing Oregon's Latest Offers in the 2026 Class WWW.ON3.COM The Oregon Ducks have been sending out new offers across the country in the 2026 class. We dive into our latest thoughts on a few of them.

How do you get experienced qb's? They need to play. I like our qb room. Alot. Moore and Novosad are team leaders. They have rapport. They understand the offense. They are both ready to show out what they're capable of. Behind them Moga and freshman Akili Smith are very talented. This is the year we show what's been developed, not use a hired gun approach. We need to continue to attract stud qb's out of high school. This is the way. I'm counting on our O-line to give the boys time to see the plays and develop game experience. Our defense will give the ball back to the offense regularly, this is the year for young qb's. Bo and Dillon were awesome for us. As players and as team leaders. That's not always the case with portal players. Were we lucky, or the coaches that good? If this proves to not be QB-U, then I'm all in with Mr. Fishduck to portal pick more often. But to me, this is the year to see. Dante has had a full off-season to improve, he has some experience from ucla and our d-line and O-line are ready. Is it almost August yet?

Oregon has gotten themselves involved with a bevy of high-profile 2026 recruits, including #1 LB Tyler Atkinson. Oregon's recruiting class started hot in the early part of the cycle, but outside of 5-star EDGE Richard Wesley has cooled down in recent months.

Spot on article. It seems like there will be years when what you have on the roster at QB will be better than what’s out there in the portal market, and I think this was one of those years. We’ve had a history of great and not so great transfers at QB. IMO this is the beauty of the college game, no one knows for sure.

I love it...between mid-February and the end of August...we get HUNDREDS of predictions, or I should say "opinions" about where Our Beloved Ducks end up. I like what he has to say, but damn...I hate this Playoff format, and yeah...we have beaten it to death. This is a very, very good team returning, but like everyone says, it all comes down to QB play. It should NOT come down to that! Why? Because Oregon is one of the few teams in the nation that could bring in an experienced, talented QB as a portal transfer every year as we have done with Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel. In my biased view, we should ALWAYS have an experienced QB every year...always. Why? Because we CAN, and it will make the difference in the high-leverage/profile games. Oregon should not be crossing their fingers that things work out at QB, and yes...I think Moore is talented, and I believe Novosad is talented as well. But they have very little college experience--especially in the big games, and Oregon should not be rolling the dice when a hundred players, a ton of coaches, their families, and staff rely on the success of the football team. And that success can be assured with a talented AND experienced quarterback from the portal.

O'Gara's No. 1 seed? LSU, Florida, Vandy, Oklahoma, Mississippi State? Predicting the 2025 Playoff: No. 2 Oregon - Saturday Down South WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM Oregon's 2024 Playoff experience ended on the worst possible note, so is redemption in store in 2025? You bet. I'm going with the Bayou Bengals. However, and FWIW, I like those Hairy Dawgs. (The Georgia, not the Mississippi State, breed. ) Will Brian Kelly finally win an opening game? Opening in the 'Other Death Valley' versus Clemson will not be easy. I'll post Saturday Down South's O'Gara's final pick tomorrow. O'Gara believes we will see Playoff seeding matching the rankings in 2025-26. This would mean OBD, with a 1st round bye, playing the winner of No. 11 Louisville at No. 6 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. Hmmmm.

Part of the reason why the West Coast schools dominated in the Olympic sports is due to the academic prominence of the California schools. A lot of the athletes that compete in these sports know they don't have the ability to make a lot of money off their sport, so they go to school with the intention of actually trying to get the best education. It's just a fact that a lot of these athletes focus on academics more, a large part because they are dominated by those who come from higher socioeconomic backgrounds. It costs a lot of money to get a private tennis coach! I would argue the entire west coast has better weather than the rest of the country.

Crazy Ending to Michigan State-Nebraska Game
EastBayDuckDad replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If the projections of Oregon as the #8 seed in the NCAA tournament are accurate, then any loss in the B1G tournament might have them slip out of hosting a super regional. Win them all, I say. I agree with the consensus here at OBDF. Pitch the younger arms against MSU and use Grinsell in the must win against Nebraska Friday. -
USC Demands Major Date Change to Keep Notre Dame Rivalry Alive
GatOrlando replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
To people under the age of 30 Notre Dame isn't special. They have cool uniforms, a cool stadium and a cool fight song. The "Here Come The Irish" song is awesome, and Rudy is a great movie and real life story. But outside of all that stuff it's just another big name program. The fact that they are given a seat at the CFP negotiating table should make people question why. If the B1G and SEC froze them out would it damage the playoffs? I'm not for the whole NFL style taking hold, but if it did the one positive might be freezing out Notre Dame and forcing them to make a choice. They've played the system great and I commend them for that. But it's time to stop letting them play everyone for fools.
