  2. With a #1 recruiting class, some portal transfers and some big cash, Oregon's basketball season can flip in a year, from bad to great. Other teams can make the same kind of improvement too. I follow both sports, all the teams and IMO college basketball recruiting is more brutal than college football. I guess nobody is really committed until they are on campus at that first team meeting, getting their photos taken in uniform. Yet there are a LOT of good basketball players nationwide, enough for every team, no matter their ranking.
  3. I am not sure how many years ago this took place. I might look for his book at the library but won't buy it. Honestly I wish Nebraska would have gone back to the B12. I bet many of their fans wish they would have or would now but the B1G tv money paid out is just too big to ignore. Yet I am biased when it comes to conference realignment ... too old school. I remember it bothered me a little, not a lot, when Arizona and Arizona State was joining the Pac8.

  5. I had a look a couple of times to double check my eyes but I don't see where Jedd Fisch's UDub is listed. I thought he had every high school player in Arizona as a lock to follow him to Seattle. To me that is a little interesting not to see them listed by name.
  6. That is the BEST compliment, although good people like you make this site special. Thank you for your kind thoughts and your posts. Good times ahead for all!
  7. My first sports forum was around 1996 at the Indianapolis Star and then other IU forums and other B1G fans forums formed after that. Needless to say I have visited many forums over 31 years, to see what information I could glean from opponents. I even joined a few where I saw there was legitimate sports discussion without arguing or attacks. THIS FORUM, FishDuck is the best forum I have ever visited, joined and posted on after the short time I have been here. I am serious when I say that. That includes Indiana forums. I have also found Duck fans on X just as nice to joke with, discuss our teams, our coaches, recruiting etc. You Duck fans are a lot different than a couple of B1G fans I could name, but won't. You are some of the best fans I have ever run into online since I first started the internet in 1995.
  8. College Football’s most crowded Quarterback rooms for 2026Oregon DucksDan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks got one of the biggest wins of the offseason when Dante Moore decided to pass up the NFL Draft to return for one more season. Dylan Raiola will look to follow in Moore's footsteps as he transfers in to serve as a backup for a year. Add in former top recruit Akili Smith Jr, and this room is very deep. Saturday BlitzCollege Football’s most crowded Quarterback rooms for 2026The Transfer Portal activity has grinded to a halt as most teams appear to be done adding players to their roster. 9. I saw the other day that Indiana was projected 5th in the B1G in baseball, Oregon was 2nd. But this might be a factor for the Hoosiers. They needed to at least get some ground ball workouts in the other day outside instead of the Indoor Football Stadium. I guess from the photo, there was no outfield workouts. Most of that snow should be melted now, it was 66° on Tuesday.
  10. All respect and gratitude to 30Duck. He will be missed here and 100 times more to those closest to him, I am sure.
  11. This is perfect in the off-season, and helps us know a bit more about 'Cig. Thanks iubhounds for this and for your great input on the many topics. We love to learn from others, and you have shared a ton already. It is great to receive other Big-10 perspectives in our forum Many thanks...
  12. Some additional information on that IU transfer portal QB from TCU ... he has seemed to have shrunk since moving from Dallas to Bloomington. In a matter of a month Josh Hoover went from 6'2 200 pounds (TCU Measurement) to 6'0 and 194 pounds. (Indiana Measurement) That will be quite a difference compared to their last QB that was 6'5.
  13. We have another in-state pitcher returning in Gabe Howard from West Linn. In his senior HS year, he was the No. 2 RHP in Oregon, and the No. 3 overall prospect in the state of Oregon as he had a 2.19 ERA in 67 innings. Whew! As a freshman last year, he played sparingly, but finished 1-0 and with a 5.87 ERA. I'm sure he'll make a big jump this year, and great to see so many Oregon-boys on the squad. Gabe Howard in 2025...

  15. Indianan's Cignetti is an interesting coach and man. This 30 minute interview is very informative and might give you an insight to "the enemy" and a comparison to what you have heard from Dan Lanning. He also talks about college football in general. Know Your Opponent
  16. So true. How I wish I could have given my friend a hug... Cherish our moments with each other.
  17. Very nice Eulogy Mr. FishDuck. RIP 30 Duck you made a contribution. A reminder to all of us who will attend a "Celebration of Life" sometime this year. If a friend is seriously ill, go see them right now rather than waiting for a "Celebration of Life" because sad to say, they will not be in attendance.

  23. Good article. First, I don't buy into the hype about Arch Manning. He is a guy who "needs to get it going" his entire college career. At some point, that is who he is - a player trying to find a rhythm, getting there briefly, and then doing a whole lot of trying to get back there again. Second, what matters is talent of the field, not talent that already went to the NFL. (Indiana, Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St) Third, this is the interesting one. Sometimes players improve with another year of playing and sometimes they kind of stay of the same, and once in a while, they slip a little. Dante Moore: He already has the perfect arm, so I can't see any improvement there. I do expect improvement in how he reacts to pressure since that is really the only part of his game that he needs to work on. Matayo U: He seemed to have moved down a notch last year from his first year. As his body grows and matures, I think he will go up a couple of notches and turn it on this season. The skills players on O and D should be some of the best in the country. Are the linebackers going to improve as a group? They should be more athletic and the subs who have been hanging around should be ready to contribute, but this is a question mark. I feel the same way about the edge players. The D line: Key subs have left via the portal. Seems like the Ducks have traded backups for backups thru the portal and went down a little talent wise. Can the newer players step in and bring some juice? Again, a question mark. The O line: A whole bunch who have been patiently developing in the system. Will they be any good? Another question mark. Overall, the Ducks have some great position groups and some not too sure - only time will position groups. It really come down to the O line and the linebackers playing up the standards of the rest of the team. There is no big bunch of experienced transfers to save them. We will see how well the staff can develop these players and get them ready for the big time. I would expect to see some "growing pains" from time to time, but then for them to form into solid units by November. At least, that is the hope.
  24. Scott Frost…Mr. It is tough to recruit to Oregon guy. A little late in the game to be lamenting over decisions made years ago. I think i would ride off into the sunset, and leave the luggage behind. Otherwise might as well call out who forced your hand, and really muddy Nebraska waters.
  25. Interesting to see that both Oregon and Indiana each have 6 returning starting players on defense and offense.
  26. Fantastic tribute. Sorry for your loss Charles and for the forum.
