  10. What the Oregon Ducks need for their perfect College Football Playoff scenario to unfold There's a common notion in college football that, so long as you win every game on your schedule and take care of business, everything else will sort itself out as far as the postseason goes. You'll be rewarded with the best opportunity to win the national championship. We saw a year ago how that wasn't the case for the Oregon Ducks, though. Despite going a perfect 13-0 with a Big Ten Championship crown in their first year as league members, Oregon got the short end of the stick thanks to an ill-advised College Football Playoff seeding model that ended up hurting conference champions and rewarded one or two-loss teams with easier routes in the bracket. While that seeding has since been updated — no longer do conference champions automatically get first-round byes — it's still fair to ask the question: Where is the ideal place to be in the CFP bracket when all is said and done?

  13. Great take and reality check. The great news is that Oregon's destiny totally sits right in our hands. Win out, and screw the AP... because the B1G will have 3 teams in the playoffs. End up with 2 losses, and nobody is going to do us any favors.
  14. I agree with you, DM. It's November, weird stuff will happen, but it would have to get really weird for OBD to be seeded higher than 6th. 6 or 7, give me this today and I'll happily take it. As Charles noted, the 2nd round opponent will be a tough out. I know it's likely to be Ohio State, but if the chips so fall, I prefer a second round game in the Rose Bowl instead of a game in the Cotton, Orange, or Sugar Bowl. A shot for payback in Pasadena vs. one of TOSU or Indiana. This time with a game in hand instead of a too long nap. Bring it on!
  15. JJ thanks for the info and your witty thoughts and remarks. It is frustrating that the bias against rhe BIG and OBD's is rearing its ugly head with the committee, talking heads and pollsters. However, and most won't like my take on this, OBD's has not helped themselves on some big stages. The massacre at the hands of Georgia. Does anybody on the Forum think SEC fans and honks have forgotten this game? OBD's shite the bed against tOSU in the quarterfinals and against IU this year. And they havent annihilated teams they should have, like Whisky. Performance builds perception and those poor performances leave an impression that lasts. ODB's don't measure up to how tOSU and IU have destroyed most of their BIG opponents. Remember I said most! There is no room for another loss. None! As much as we love our Ducks, that love is not receprocated anywhere else. The Ducks control their own destiny. Go Ducks.........
  16. It's looking like OBD is finding its' offensive identity, and I feel like there is still quite a bit of upside available. USC is going to score some points this Saturday, and while I am pretty crappy at predictions, I've got the Ducks winning by about 18. Something like 42-24, with pretty balanced passing and rushing numbers. Although we rushed for 179 yards last weekend, which is nothing to shake a stick at, the running game was still very productive. In addition, Moore look very comfortable, generally had decent time in the pocket, wasn't locking on to his first receiver choice, and just a fine job moving the ball around. The run game nicely set him up to have a lot of success throwing the ball. GO DUCKS!
  17. In first round games the home team controls ticket sales. 3500 tickets minimum have to be reserved for the visiting team. How OBD handles distribution? I hope there would not be a radical difference between the 1st round and the regular season.

  21. The beat-down regarding Oregon's playoff bona fides goes on. With its woeful schedule, if OBD does not finish 11-1, kiss the PO goodbye. Huh? The latest to question whether a 2-loss OBD deserves to be in the playoff field is On3's Ari Wasserman. Ari notes that the only decent team (the nation's 2nd-ranked Iowa) that Oregon played, it lost to at home. First in line to question Oregon was the now-replaced PO committee chair, Mack Rhodes, who went out of his way after the first release of rankings to explain why it was Oregon that was being dropped three spots from No. 6 in the AP to 9th by the committee. At the same time, Rhodes went out of his way to mention how good 2-loss Notre Dame looked in the eyes of the PO committee. Move right along. Metrics are used only when needed.🤪 Notre Dame is 1-2 against teams that will be ranked by the committee on Tuesday night, in a half-hour broadcast of the rankings that ESPN is squeezing in between its broadcast of CFB games. Why the two-loss Trojans with road losses at Illinois and Notre Dame are ranked behind many two-loss SEC teams is not worth the debate. It's apparent that Losses suffered by teams not in the SEC Just Mean More. To the committee, the AP voters, and the majority of learned scribes. The super-duper, at the request of Greg Sankey, computer rankings used by the committee, simply cannot be that far off from the well-respected Massey Computer Ratings. Can they? (The current Massey rankings are posted under the 2025 Football Poll Rankings on the Forum.) No. 5 Massey-ranked OBD, ranked No. 8 by the committee, has played the 26th most difficult schedule to date, with the remaining SOS ranked 18th. Not great, but not junk. By comparison, Texas Tech, ranked No. 6 by the committee and 9th by Massey, has a SOS of 48 to date, and 54th, with one game remaining on 11/29 at West Virginia. Committee No. 9, Notre Dame, has played the 22nd hardest schedule, but finishes 43rd with games remaining versus Syracuse and Stanford. Can the data being used by the committee be that different than the data used by Ken Massey? The Week 13 games and game broadcasts follow this Week 12 take: Smart can't beat Bama, and Sark can't get Smart. 😁 FYI, I like the guy with the beard and not the guy with the 5 o'clock shadow. 22. Not counting my chickens before the eggs hatch, but? Any idea how ticket allotment will work? Will season ticket holders be able to purchase their usual seats that they have during the season. I sure would like to sit with all my peeps that I have sat with for 30 years. I would hope the UO would see to it that we get first option. I'm afraid they are going to go with the donor points system and some rich donor will buy up all our seats before we get a chance to.
  23. 6 or 7 seed would be good. Get a good tune up game in December. The only team I have any real fear of right now is Ohio State they just haven't struggled but in turn they haven't really been tested either. I would just like to not play them in the second round. If this bracket holds true then Georgia in the second round would be tough but I think we have a team that could beat them. A possible rematch with Indiana would be interesting and I don't think it plays out the same it did in the previous game. Overall... I like the No.6 or 7 seed and that side of the bracket.
  24. Really glad for Justin's sake that he has a bye week coming up. The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be trying to get that guy knocked out of football all together... or at a minimum, sadly shorten his career by what could be many years. The abuse he continues to receive is incredible.
  25. The ball was babbled as he crossed the line. He regained control of the ball with both hands and then dropped it out the end zone. So the only question was did he regain control of the ball... and the answer to that was yes. So there wasn't actually a fumble as the ball didn't hit the ground until after the touchdown. Whittington was in the midst of pulling a Byron Marshall and dropped the ball before he cross the line but he never actually fumbled it.
  26. I have a question about that almost fumble. He'd already had several steps into the end zone with (to my eyes) control of the ball. Why isn't that enough? I mean, sometimes players intentionally spike or casually drop the ball in the end zone after they enter the end zone and there's no question about it being a touchdown. What am I missing?
