Prediction Contest vs. Montana State: First One of the Year!
Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Montana State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. And please check the other posts in this thread to prevent putting up the a score that has already been predicted. We had one week where four entries were the same score! Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 52-16 2 4 321 Noah Whittington

The Game Countdown...What Are YOU Looking For?
1) Will we see 1 or 2 QB's? Is Dante Moore our best QB? Does he have the leadership intangibles? Can he make quick decisions or use his feet to extend plays? 2) Inside Linebackers - We have experience and speed, but do we have the elite linebackers needed for an elite defense. I want to hear their names all game long. That means our linemen are occupying blockers, linebackers are beating blocks, and their instincts are putting them in the right place at the right time. It's been a loooong time since we've had an elite tandem at this level. I'd love to see this group meet or exceed the level of Kiko Alonso and Michael Clay. 3) Will WRs have more receptions than RBs and TEs combined? New QBs and new WRs mean more check downs. How many more two RB sets will we see and how many times do we see Dakorien Moore get the ball behind the line of scrimmage? If we see WRs with more receptions than TEs and RBs, I'll take that as a big positive for QB, WR, and OLine chemistry and development.

New Freedoms Allowed for GameDay Threads: "Go Ahead and Let it Go...."
My Duck-Buddies....I have made a major change in how we will moderate our GameDay threads. Bottom line, is that you will be allowed to spew your frustration, to vent, as you wish. I recall how we have lost many good members because they were fine on the forum during the week, but went crazy in the GameDay threads. So, I will let you vent in GameDay threads. But Note the Parameters: --This is for GameDay threads only; you have to behave in the regular forum threads as in the past. --You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week. So, if things aren't going well, and we are getting our butt kicked? It is fine to blow off the steam in the GameDay thread, but NOT in the regular forum threads. I am allowing this so people can get-it-out-of-their-system during the game, but the question is--can these same people restrain themselves to not do it on the regular forum threads? You will need to, as I am cutting slack on this with the implied agreement by those who utilize this new privilege--that they will contain themselves in normal forum threads as before. I'm counting on the good people of this forum to hold their end up, in order to have a sounding board for when things get testy for us all. One Caveat? I would be mindful of the total game, because I recall a few years ago when we opened against Portland State--the Vikings marched down the field and scored early in the first quarter before Oregon got things going. And people absolutely melted down. Angry at the DC Lupoi, angry at the team....just angry. Then we won 81-7 and those in early meltdown mode looked pretty silly. So you are free to write what you want, but know it could provide laughter for us later.... We have a fantastic community here, and I want you all to enjoy the experience, thus the new freedom.

The Game Countdown...What Are YOU Looking For?
My wish is simple… I want OBD to do everything right, play to their standard, and put these guys away in convincing fashion. If the Ducks control the line, let the defensive backs show what they can do, and give Moore the chance to settle in, this should be the kind of blowout that leaves no doubt.

Agree running could be better, but… There is some cause (B1G schedule) and effect here. New caveman ball oriented conference geared around stopping the run was almost certainly going to result in historically bad run numbers on offense. If I remember correctly, many of our defensive metrics (YPG, Pass YPG, PPG) all set modern era bests or close to it.

Oregon - Montana State Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
While Montana State may not compete in the FBS alongside programs like Oregon and 135 others, that doesn't mean they aren't talented and capable of giving the Ducks a test. According to Bill Connelly's SP+ rankings on ESPN, which combine all FBS and FCS teams into one massive scale, Montana State would be the 80th-best team in the nation. Comparatively, the Oregon State Beavers are No. 75, and the Stanford Cardinal are No. 84. Five Montana State Bobcats who Oregon Duck fans should know before Week 1

Excellent point here. Sadly, the 2024 run game was worse than just 2023. Between 2007 and 2024 . . . 2024 run game had the lowest YPG and YPA. I'm with you on this one; hoping the OL and run game fair much better this year.

Oregon Football: Setting Expectations for Game One
Expectations: Ball control game. I see Will Stein making use of the amount of time we have the ball in order to limit Montana State's time of possession. Could likely see some extended offensive drives. Run heavy scheme complimented with a lot of short/intermediate passes to build Dante's confidence. We should see an improved secondary. These are finally all Dan Lanning players on defense that have had multiple years to learn the scheme. Return to dominating the "middle eight". We were masters of this during Kenny Dillingham's only year and Will Stein's first year here. Most games can be decided by creating scores in the last 4 minutes of the first half and first 4 of the second half. If we can get back to owning this our team can be lethal. We will cover, not blow out. This will likely be due to succeeding at item #1 on the list. We should control the time of possession throughout the game. While not necessarily leading to "lighting up the scoreboard", it will be reflective of how both sides of the ball keeps the game within their control.

Oregon Football: Setting Expectations for Game One
Nice article. I’m not really too hung up on a final score but over all I just want to see a confident team decisively control the game. Man. I am so ready for some football. Go Ducks!

Score at least in the 40's and keep them under 14. Starting the year with a cover would nice.

Wondering What our Pro Ducks are Doing? (3)
A Southeast-centric 2026 mock draft that has Matayo U, Kenyon Sadiq, and Isiah World going in the 1st round. Clemson - weren't the 3 projected 1st-rounders on a defense last season that SMU and Texas torched? Miami - with all of this 1st round talent (?) Mari-oh-oh is running out of excuses? Ditto for Auburn's Hugh Freeze. 😁 Indiana QB Mendoza going No. 1, well above the Mendoza Line, may not pan out, but he is one of the reasons I think this season's Indiana could be ... Indiana? Likely Ls in Autzen and at Penn State, but 10-2 is doable. But will the more than manageable OOC schedule derail this season's Hoosiers? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2026-nfl-mock-draft-preseason-edition-includes-5-qbs-taken-in-first-round-including-a-big-surprise-at-no-1/?ftag=SNL-04-10aaa0b&ET_CID=470217&ET_RID=52482716

The SEC Goes to 9 Conference Games in 2026
Finally! This will result in 2-4 less SEC teams being ranked in the Top 25 each year. At the end of the day, voters look at pure # of losses. This finally evens the playing field.
