Top 5 seems right. However, as all the Forum members know the games are played one game at a time. The talent is there for 11-1 and a 3rd place finish in the BIG. Yes that is true. But that is all part of portal life. It hits every team. We don't know which backups were planned for the future and which ones were just role players. We don't know how the staff feels about them leaving. We don't know how the staff feels about the ones who are staying. We don't know if coaching assistants had anything to do with it. We don't know if the staff felt they had more potential or already reached their ceiling. Etc. Some other backups might be passing them up in 2026? And here is what kind of puzzles me: Why so many D linemen in the portal and so few O linemen? Is it the chance to start next season or is there something else? Any way, the staff has to work around it and put in a depth chart that will work. I can see a scenario where the starting DTs get hurt and there is no quality depth and that tanks the season. Lets hope not.

There is absolutely an insurance policy in place. Those aren't terribly new. I know in 2014 Ifo had an insurance policy if he was injured and as a result fell out of the first three rounds. He did and got a few mil for it. Not ideal because it doesn't always make up for the money lost on not getting long term NFL contracts but that's still enough money to set themselves up. So yes... Moore has an insurance policy and has probably had one in place for a couple years.

Keep in mind that winning the Big-10 is going to be a task because UCLA returned a great team, (all healthy for once) and got some portal transfers that were among the best available out there. The Bruins have been preseason ranked at No. 2 in one poll, and No. 1 in the nation in another. For once it is not an ACC or SEC team at the top? The West Coast teams are adding a ton to our new conference, and the only teams in the B1G ranked preseason are UCLA and Oregon. (They tied for the conference championship last year) But if some great pitchers emerge from all that was brought in....and with Waz throwing mud-on-the-wall with 23 pitchers...we will find some and make a run for the championship!
