  2. Let's see...we lost one game last year, and I certainly don't think we can blame that all on the offense! In our one loss this year...we had receivers open--the plays worked, but the QB could not deliver. Dilly was good...Stein was good.
  3. Want to find Whit? Park City is one of the Utah ski areas that is open. He got what he wanted after last season's no-show. He is leaving a ranked football team behind for his buddy, Morgan Scalley, to coach. He has as much of a chance to be the next coach in Ann Arbor as Conner Stalions. 😁
  4. The idea that ‘a good defence wins Championships’ is a popular mantra that has defined so many successful teams at all levels of football. However, the Oregon Ducks are on course to flip that narrative with ‘The Law Firm’ – a fearsome offensive unit that could deliver a National Championship this season. The Law Firm ‘The Law Firm’ moniker was ... Oregon’s ‘Law Firm’ Offense Leads Ducks to a ‘Natty? Offensive Line Coach A'lique Terry leads the "Law Firm" at Oregon....
  5. Maybe people are confusing Whittingham with Dillingham?

  7. I still say Dilly was a better OC than WS.
  8. Hopefully Coach Dilly stays at Arizona State.
  9. Someone said that Whittingham was open to coaching. It sure it makes sense for Michigan. Maybe 10 years ago…
  10. Yesterday
  11. He's definitely leveraging for a bigger contract with ASU.
  12. Probably wishful thinking by Michigan homers and pundits. Whittingham is still signed on to work as a sort of consultant for Utah on a part time basis for 2 years after this season. That means he's unlikely to leave the state.
  13. They have both changed the nature of recruiting at Oregon. I put a link to one of my previous articles that was from the Cristobal era that touches a bit more on the subject. https://fishduck.com/2020/09/scott-frost-was-absolutely-right-about-recruiting-to-oregon/ But I would say the family atmosphere Lanning has created is appealing to recruits. Along with recruits seeing there is a path towards their end goals like the NFL if they are coachable. The social media games has changed greatly and the number of scholarships offers has changed dramatically as well from how Oregon recruits. In the Bellotti, Kelly and Helfrich era Oregon typically offered less than 100 scholarships. It was a rare and highly sought after get but that was also paired with their overall lack of official visits and the difficulty to get recruits on campus. Under Cristobal and Lanning Oregon gives out excess of 200 offers now (most are verbal) to varying degrees of interest. With more official visits they can get more recruits on campus and build those relationships. I honestly don't remember where these numbers originally came from for scholarship offers and I haven't been able to find them again but they are rattling around my head. As I couldn't find those data points I didn't include them in the article. But this is a forum post so my standards a bit lower. Thank you for reading, is there anything I missed you feel should be included?
  14. The number one in the article is recruiting. I don't think the article goes far enough. What I noticed with Mario and more so with Lanning is every new coach hired seems to be known for recruiting. Almost without exception and most are young and energetic. Good at their positions also, but great recruiters.
  15. The ACC said today (Dec. 16) it would have a schedule date by date release for 2026 in late January. ACC Announces 2026 League Opponents as Move to Nine-Game...CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - The Atlantic Coast Conference unveiled its 2026 football league opponents for all 17 teams on Tuesday, marking an exciting milestone as the league furthers its transitio

  17. We here at the OBD Forum know a non-answer when we hear one. Maybe he's negotiating a better contract with ASU, or maybe he's on the way out . . .
  18. Seems like nonsense to me, but it's a rumor that keeps popping up. I don't see it, as the man is in his sixties, and coming off twenty one years as the head coach at Utah. A program he led with dignity, and transitioned from a G5 to P5, and now P4 member, quite successfully. Would he really want to jump into that mess? I get the resources, but who knows who's in charge up there.
  19. I said WIDE receivers. Agreed, Johnson is a great option as a tight end. It would sure be nice to put 3 WRs out there that are all legitimate threats, rather than have one of the 3 that Moore rarely is comfortable throwing to as a tendency defenses can scheme against. With regards to TTU, they have been phenomenal, but are the least tested team in the playoffs outside the G5 teams and has a 3 week break to get soft before getting hit by an offensive line significantly better than any they've seen to date. I do agree that if they shut down our running game like they did against BYU it's going to be really important that Dante can handle the pressure they bring and get off good passes to our receivers, or else to could be trouble. Washington shut down our run game but was poor at generating pressure on Dante, which has been their weakness. TTU like Indiana can bring solid pressure on the QB, and is probably better at stopping the run. Could be a low scoring game.

  21. Oh my. I pity 'da fools who have to play against us on Saturday! 😅
  22. I've thought about those series and I love them. I think they are one part recruiting tool and two parts fan service. I'm sure it's nice for a player to get a behind the scenes peak in the early recruitment process but I'm sure outside of that they get a way better look at what's going on for with the program and how it functions. But for fans those videos are an amazing peak into the program. I think those videos are also part of the reason why as fans we accept Lanning's general refusal to answer a lot of questions at media events. We know we'll get something special, though edited, later. Though I also wouldn't underestimate the power of those videos to get recruiting going for the Ducks.
  23. Excellent article David, thank you! One thing I didn’t see mentioned was Oregon’s videography group. While they may not have been factors in building the juggernaut I believe they have a lot to do with maintaining and even improving the recruiting prowess of OBD. The DUCKS VS THEM series. The Under Construction series on the Ducks YouTube Chanel this year and the That Team Out West series from last year are off the charts as far a a recruiting tool. Today’s recruits absolutely eat that stuff up! Again, thank you for the thought producing article about OBD recruiting!
  24. Lanning was asked how he managed to sign every single commit after BOTH coordinators announced they were leaving and he tells recruits that if Oregon is successful then his coordinators will have opportunities for other jobs and that his goal is to make sure that his coaches and players are able to achieve all of their goals. [Or something along those lines.] Think of the coordinators that have left and where they have gone: • Kenny Dillingham - ASU (alma mater) • Tosh Lupoi - Cal (alma mater) • Will Stein - Kentucky (parents are season ticket holders) It’s not like they are leaving for some random jobs. I’m sure that Coach Lanning is providing advice on the types of programs they should be targeting to be happy and successful.
  25. Great article David, and I forgot about the expanded number of officials visits, and how that helps us enormously. How many coaches double, and triple-down on "I'm not leaving" as Lanning has. I agree that in a very unstable business--hearing that is certainly another recruiting advantage.
