It's a Power 2 World, and OBD is Living in It!
Jon Joseph replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
$20.5 million is the direct payment cap in year one of the House settlement. Yes, same for the Ducks as for the Beavers. However, the Ducks have greater resources, including being a member of the B1G and not the Pac-7 plus Gonzo. There is no cap on NIL deals that are truly NIL deals. All NIL deals $600 and over have to be reported and will be reviewed to determine if the deals are 'outside market value' and being used as a recruiting tool. The Tennessee legislature has passed a law that neuters the enforcement of the House settlement terms in Tennessee. As Rob Mullens noted in his recent interview, 34 to 35 states have varying NIL legislation on the books. Without federal intervention, chaos will continue in college sports. -
Well, it helps the national perception, no doubt, and I agree with you on that. It also gets another B1G team in the tournament if Nebraska wins, but will it cost USC their slot? I forgot about this, but while the entire Baseball bracket is revealed Monday morning, the sixteen regional sites will be announced late this afternoon. I will post it when it is available, as we will then see our fate without waiting for tomorrow.

Nebraska is leading UCLA 5-0 in the 6th inning in the Big Ten Championship. Huskers 31-27 leading 42-15 UCLA. The earlier win over the Ducks 42-14 shows Nebraska can get their s** together when it counts apparently.

I believe that everyone is overlooking how the NIL is going to be 20.5 million, the same for all schools, thus Beavis has the same NIL budget for all sports as we do. This is going to have quite a NFL-esque equalizing impact on talent as it will no longer be concentrated? -

The trouble with becoming a ‘have’ is that it has a tendency to turn you into one of those programs you always despised - or was it always just envy? -

Reminds me of the golf course Willie Nelson built on his ranch, he got to set par. Said on one hole the other day he shot a 12 . . . and birdie that sucker! -
Sabrina Outscores Caitlin Clark as NY Wins at Indiana

Both are top tier players, however one of them just happens to be a wiley veteran as well! -
We had a ton of good wins, but we also have too many bad losses. Yet our margin is clearly much thinner than it is for most teams. It puts Waz in a tough spot; you need to schedule well for RPI, yet you need easier games to break in new players. I would like to think our body of work...especially in the last month is better than No. 12 or No. 13...

Sorry to disagree, but the NCAA rules are pretty specific and support the Liberty coach's decision to contest the calls. She noted a glitch, perhaps on film review, in how Kai lifted her lead foot off the base even though she wasn't leaving early or getting a jump on the pitch. Once Luschar was no longer in contact with the base, she was in violation of the strict interpretation of the rules. From the NCAA Rulebook: 12.6 Base Runner Is Out 12.6.1 When she leaves the base she is occupying before the pitch is released and the defensive coach does not take the result of the play. 12.14 Leaving A Base 12.14.1 A runner may not leave the base she attained at the conclusion of play once the ball is in the pitcher’s possession in the pitcher’s circle. DL took advantage of a loophole in the 12 men on the field rule to help defeat Ohio State at Autzen. The NCAA then changed the rulebook to close that loophole. That's just smart coaching, and I give Dot Richardson the nod for exploiting it. The softball rules may need a revamp, but I suspect that runners will just make sure they always stay in contact with the base before trying to steal. I'm thankful that these calls didn't hurt Oregon and that the issue will be addressed before the WS games, where they could have been devastating. -
You can look at D1Baseball's Projections right here, and below are some of my observations about other teams. In the B1G, only Oregon is hosting, as UCLA lost their Regional Seed, and will travel to No. 11 Clemson as a No. 2 Regional Seed! USC is in, but traveling to the Corvallis Regional to face Beavis, UC Irvine and St. Mary's. Nebraska is being "watched" as they play UCLA for the B1G Tourney Championship at noon today. Stunner: Oregon beat Oregon State four times, has won 15 of the their last 17 games, but Beavis gets a higher national seed than the Ducks at No. 9? Oregon opponents Rhode Island and Columbia are predicted to be in the NCAA field. Again...these are projections, and the actual bracket comes out tomorrow morning.
