How college football's transfer portal is changing spring practice
WWW.ESPN.COMThis year, there are already more than 3,600 FBS players in the portal, and the biggest question...I was trying to post the article above

I wonder what Oregon’s portal stats look like? How many of these kids will never play another game?

If the conference is going to return to respectability It's important for UCLA to be a strong program along with the Huskies (I hate to print that).
Some may not like it, but if the conference is going to regain respectability it's important to have a significant number of teams have good seasons.
And I hate to see it printed, mrspenney, but you are correct. Seattle represents the largest market in the North.
I just can’t see the Heiney-sniffers doing better than 3rd in the north, and 4th is more likely.

winning by 1 point in a slugfest is not as much fun as watching Oregon destroy Jamis Winston's Florida State team in the 2014-15 Rose Bowl.
Truer words are seldom spoken! THAT was a fun game to watch! The third quarter was absolutely EPIC!
Thanks David, for reminding me, I will watch it a couple more times waiting for late August.

I suspected this might be the case. The portal is not all sunshine and flowers. There is a dark side.
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.
I’d be very interested to know the results experienced by Duck players who portal out…

I would suggest for a very Oregon Coast fishing experience that you find a charter in Pacific City on a dory. They launch off the beach on the leeward side of Cape Kiwanda.
As a guy who fished commercially off Cape Kiwanda in the late 70’s and early 80’s, I gotta agree with Jon here!
You will find no better experience than launching off the beach, limiting out with bottom fish and salmon, then riding the boat through the surf and onto the beach. It’s about 3 hours north and west of Eugene, but we’ll worth the trip.Welcome to our little slice of heaven!

Fear No Team. Respect is fine for the teams that earn it.
The undisciplined spoiled children deserve no more and no less than our complete and total attention the week they play The Ducks.
The butt sniffers to the north would deserve our pity if they weren’t such a pathetic bunch of sniveling curs. As such, we should give them no more and no less than a monumental beat down every time they dare to step on the field with us.

Great article Sir Charles, thank you for getting our juice flowing and our Ducks in a line!
OK, many Duck fans think Chip was the greatest Duck coach of all time, and his W/L ratio speaks for itself. Was he a salesman? CEO? Recruiter? Leader? I think we’d be hard pressed to give CK an A in all of the above.
This is admittedly looking at the world through green and yellow glasses, but I don’t see DL as the next NS, but rather I see him as the guy who replaces NS as the GOAT of CFB.

Thanks for posting JD!
Something about a large athlete with a “nasty intent” has me looking forward to “pancakes with attitude!” -
Offense: Incredibly prolific.
Defense: Punishingly dominant.

We got Tevita Pome’e after the article came out, we just keep getting good news!

Brown might have been more formidable if his receivers were that wide-open that often.
In addition to having wide-open team-mates to throw at (I saw wide open guys have to make some wicked adjustments), Bo is good playmaker, and one I’d be happy with if he wins the job, but wouldn’t it be cool if he was the 2nd best QB on the team!

I much prefer the O and wings to the old (tired) intertwined U and O.
Really liked the Lightning, Thunder and Ice color combinations a few years ago.
I don’t mind seeing all white or all black uniforms, as long as they have green or yellow helmets or highlights, but for heaven’s sake, dump the hideous grey.

The bottom line is....whatever you can sell….
Meanwhile Oregon Track can certainly sell "tradition," and it should.
Tracktown USA definitely has a long and well earned tradition! And now they have brand new Crown Jewel to spruce up and freshen the tradition!
DL needs to use it to bring in some world class speedsters!

Charles, another terrific 'Lanning take.' Thank you.
I always had a disconnect with Mario. The players insisted that Mullens hire Mario but then, where was the love? The on-field play was bafflingly inconsistent for a group of guys who supposedly loved their coach and loved the 'family atmosphere.'
Ditto on the terrific Lanning take!
If my memory serves Jon, weren’t the leaders on the team that insisted on MC the same players who got to watch Helfrich run the Ferrari into the wall, then got to experience WT drive it off the road and into the mud?
To them, MC, with his promises to turn them into a Mack truck must have seemed like Nirvana! No wonder they fell for it.
I am so looking forward to the Lanning Era!

Our culture is simply “how we do things here.” It is important for Dan’s or Dan’ players to buy in, support, and to a large degree, drive the culture. At the end of the day, a team’s culture is what will keep them together or wedge them apart.
That is why it is important for the coach to get players to buy in to the culture he or she wants for the team.

Tied with 7.9 to go!

Down 3 with 14.6 on the clock…

Are these the same NFL folks who thought Justin Herbert had “issues” with leadership?
Maybe he will fall far enough to get drafted by the Chargers!

Mom grew up in Eugene/Springfield area and raised me to love green and yellow. Loved the title of Tracktown USA and got to see Pre in action.
Was lucky enough to watch some great games in Autzen, starting with the win over BYU when Detmer got sacked by Marcus Woods for a safety right in front of me!
Back in the early 2000’s, I got to drive a quad pulling band equipment onto the field when the GPHS Marching Band played the halftime show, 4 years in a row.
These days I try to bring the Grandkids to at least one game each year. Enjoy watching the Ducks play football, MBB, WBB, softball, baseball, Tumbling & Acrobatics, Track & Field, etc.

OMG! We are going to tell Noah Sewell and Justin Flowe to create more havoc than they already do?
This is gonna be fun to watch! Release the DUCKS of WAR to rain HAVOC early and often, upon their (soon to be dazed and confused) opponents.
Can hardly wait til September! Go Ducks!

I think we come out of the pre-season allowing 24-28 points per game while scoring 28-34 points per game. Of course the first game will skew the numbers a little, but the is my (way too early) prediction for the pre-season.
We should hit full stride early in the regular season scoring 35-40 PPG while holding opponents to 17-21 PPG. Holding the tail slappers and the butt sniffers to single digits will be the frosting on the cake!

I also noted that the prediction has the Duck O averaging 41.9 PPG while the Duck D allows 25 PPG!
That will make for happy Duck fans!

The ones who left. It seems like a lot of depth players (not so many starters) have left, and I hope they are not killing their chances.
