2025 Season Opening Opponent
- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
'Leave no doubt.' Ryan Day chooses to run up score vs. Indiana instead of run out clock. WWW.INDYSTAR.COM Ohio State RB Treveyon Henderson went down at the 1-yard line to bleed out the clock vs. Indiana. Instead of taking a knee, the Buckeyes added a TD. Since Indiana is 60 miles from Indianapolis perhaps a few Hoosier fans will show up to cheer for the Ducks...- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
I think broadcaster Gus Johnson has just moved into No. 1 most annoying on my personal scale.- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
Indiana had to make a pre-emptive move. Don't question that. But, his first team has a bunch of transfers from his last job at James Madison. And, faced an obviously weak schedule. Maybe length of term could have been shorter with incentives for annual rollovers.- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
Interesting column in The Athletic yesterday about Ohio State revamping their defense since the Oregon game. D-coordinator Jim Knowles initiating a major reset. excerpt: In the four games since the loss, Ohio State has given up just two touchdowns and 4.1 yards per play. Through the Oregon game, the Buckeyes had the nation’s 61st-highest blitz rate (28.2 percent), per TruMedia; since then, they’ve had the fourth highest (45.8 percent). They’ve also risen from 61st in percent of man-to-man defense played to 14th.- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!

"Indiana getting exposed." Actually, that is part of the issue with them. They have been on BTN 6 times, Peacock 1, and 1 each Fox, CBS, NBC before today. That's 3 linear network appearances in 10 games. Along with strength of schedule, Indiana has been operating in the dark, and been given the benefit of the doubt based on scoring margin.- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
Canzano pre-game, yesterday: Asked Bill Rabinowitz of Columbus Dispatch if Ohio State is focused on getting another shot at the Oregon Ducks and is motivated by that idea. "Yes, yes, yes, yes -- they do... no question."- GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!

Ducks have now won 8 straight vs Beavers. The four wins in Corvallis: 2, 2, 2, 3 pts. Beavs have 9 foreign players on their roster this season. 5 of them scored. Their maturity will likely carry them to a bunch of wins if they get some home crowd support from Beavis fans. They'll have Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Portland home and away, but based on tonight I think they can be competitive. Ducks are in their typical Atlman pulling his hair out phase until they can be more consistent on defense, and find a reliable perimeter shooter. Playing physical on the road in the Big Ten will be a new adventure.- Can the Ducks Peak? How Many Losses for Oregon in the SEC?
Alabama has 4 conference home games this season. And, 4 road games. 246 miles to Vanderbilt - a loss 314 to Tennessee - a loss 349 to LSU 700 to Oklahoma Georgia 378 to Kentucky 274 to Alabama - a loss 1,000 to Texas 404 to Ole Miss - a loss Oregon 857 to UCLA 2236 to Purdue 2365 to Michigan 2095 to Wisconsin How long before we hear the SEC bellyaching about those "long trips" to Austin and Norman?- Oregon vs UDub In 6-day Window

Historical note about 1992 Florida State in the ACC: Seminoles were 8-0 in the ACC first season after being an Independent since 1951. Miami wasn't part of the ACC yet. And, Miami was REALLY good then (1985-94). Miami was FSU's only loss as they beat Tulane, Florida, and Nebraska in the Orange Bowl to finish 11-1. Miami ended up 11-1 with a loss to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.- WSU's Dickert Speaks Reality vs OSU

Oregon was the only B1G team this season that had 8 consecutive B1G games without a bye. USC had 7. No other team had more than 6.- Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread
You can run W-L scenarios at this link. Though when I looked at it a little while ago it didn't have Rutgers beating Maryland. Simply click on a team to change the highlighted winner then click the calculate standings button. The Ducks would like to both clinch it and clench it. But, there are who beat who scenarios involving 8-1 teams...not the head-to-head...but the W-L record of their 9 opponents where a loss to Washington could do damage.- Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread
2015 Michigan State beat Michigan and Ohio State on the road, and Penn State at home. (They also beat Oregon at home). They did not play Wisconsin. Then, got demolished by Alabama- Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread
Excerpt from one of those links: "Barring any unlikely tie-breaking scenarios in the conference standings, Oregon will compete for the conference crown in Indianapolis." I believe that is true. If the Ducks lose to Washington, and a couple other games are upsets, Oregon could fall out of the 1 or 2 slot. It is based on teams being tied with one loss 8-1 and the W-L records of teams they beat when there was no head-to-head among some of the one-loss teams.- Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread
Tonight was the final regular season B1G game across two time zones. No more this regular season. No blizzard games that I can recall. The traveling teams were 8-18 (5 wins by teams going West to East) 3-0 - Oregon 2-1 - UCLA 0-3 - USC 0-4 - UW The other 3 wins were East to West: Indiana, Minnesota, Penn St- Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread

Today’s availability report as submitted to the Big Ten: Out: DL Jordan Burch, DB Jahlil Florence, DB Khamari Terrell, WR Tez Johnson, WR Kyler Kasper, OL Marcus Harper, OL Matthew Bedford, DL My’Keil Gardner Some tough absences for the Ducks in that list...- Shown the Money: Indiana Stepped Up for Cignetti
Cignetti has benefited greatly this season from 13 players who came with him from James Madison with at least 8 starting. Clearly knew expectations and culture, and the play book. His staff includes 6 assistants from JMU. According to FPI, the strength of schedule is No. 100. But, they have had dominant wins and not stubbed their toes. Cignetti had to be given a raise. Had to. Any AD would do it as a defensive measure since his coach only had one season invested in Indiana. Can he sustain success? That is now the $8million per year question. If the Hoosiers can beat Ohio State it is a short bus ride to the Big Ten Championship game. It is 49 miles from Bloomington to Indianapolis. That's closer than Georgia is to Atlanta. It would likely be the most overwhelmingly partisan crowd in the history of conference championship games. - GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
