The Rose Bowl Kick Off Has been Moved to 4:00 PM Eastern, 1:00 PM Pacific...
Will reduce tailgating time between the end of the parade and kickoff. In the earliest years the kickoff was 2:15 pm, then was adjusted to 2:00 pm in the 1940's. Lights weren't added until 1929 so it's interesting to contemplate those earlier games. Perhaps they were shorter duration without the TV commercials and extended half-time? The two "BCS Championship" games in 2002 and 2006 were late starts. Both about 5:25 pm PT for Miami vs Nebraska and Texas vs USC. Neither were January 1.

Oregon Moved Up in the Baseball Rankings...But So Did BEAVIS
Iowa may be 17-4, but they are also 27-11, and have not played any of the four teams directly below them in the Big Ten standings. So, their 17-4 is suspect by folks who participate in the rankings. The Hawkeyes are probably better than if 5th, but should they be No. 1 in the Big?

WR Adrian Wilson: A Lucky Miss?
WR Adrian Wilson flipped from TCU to Oregon July 29, 2023, then flipped from Oregon the following March, 2024. Wilson committed to ASU in April. He then flipped out of ASU in October 2024 to Colorado. Now with less than a semester on the Colorado campus as an early entry member of class of 2025, Wilson has decided to leave Colorado....was a four-star recruit from Pflugerville, Texas. TCU>Oregon>ASU>Colorado>??

Rodrick Pleasant Enters Portal
A four-star recruit out of Junipero Serra High, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Pleasant was ranked No. 90 nationally in the 247Sports Composite in the class of 2023. He is the 12th member of UO’s 2023 recruiting class to transfer and the highest-rated of those players. CBSSports.com first reported the portal entry of Pleasant, the 10th UO scholarship player to enter the portal this offseason and the first in the spring transfer window. His departure leaves UO with 82 projected scholarship players in 2025. Oregon coach Dan Lanning said Pleasant was participating in the team’s practices and meetings when available, but was participating in track again this spring. He had four tackles, one pass breakup and a forced fumble while appearing in seven games in 2023....had one tackle in four games while redshirting in 2024. Oregon Softball is Killing-It, and DROPS in the Polls?
Ducks are 38-4 for the best start in their program history. Div 1 teams can lose 4 games from the pitcher getting up on the wrong side of the bed. No. 1 A&M is 37-5, outscored 31-14 in 5 losses. Two of the 5 by 1 run each, the other 3 losses by combined 15. Oregon outscored 18-11 in the 4 losses. Two of the 4 by 1 run each, the other 2 losses by combined 5. Will be interesting to see how the Ducks play in Corvallis on Wednesday? Will they try to "save players" for the weekend showdown with UCLA? UCLA does not play mid-week before arriving in Eugene.

Oregon Softball is Killing-It, and DROPS in the Polls?
Well, reading 30Duck's list of schools...all from the SEC....apparently there is SEC polling bias in softball also? That is, "if we beat another SEC school we must be superior." That being said, there are 9 SEC schools in the Top 15. Only Oregon and UCLA from the B1G. As the season winds down, these SEC schools will dominate the locations for home games to open the regionals for the softball world series due to "ranking.". If the CFP expands, and the home openers are based on "polls" the CFP will also become an SEC centric tournament. That has always been the scenario that the B1G, ACC and Big12 feared.

Softball: Oregon, UCLA in 1st Place in the B1G
I believe the 2017 season started 37-4, then was 38-6 when it got the 38th victory. Don't mean to diminish the 2025 accomplishment, but 2017 was playing Pac12 softball competition. 2017 final rankings 3-UW 4-Oregon 5-UCLA 9-Arizona 14-Utah 23-ASU 26-Cal 2025 current ranking 4-Oregon 7-UCLA 23-Nebraska 24-Ohio St

Oregon Softball Wins Game Three 5-4, and Sweeps Minnesota
"No. 4 Oregon’s biggest test of conference play still awaits, though. The Ducks travel to Corvallis for a non-conference game on Wednesday, before hosting No. 8 UCLA at Jane Sanders Stadium in a series starting Friday." At 38-4 the Ducks have their best W-L start in program history. Though, we probably need to recognize the Ducks are not facing a full-slate of Pac12 competition now. The Ducks previous best was 38-6 in 2017 after being 37-4. UCLA is 40-5 and will not play mid-week before traveling to Eugene. Both teams are tied at 12-1 and co-leaders of the Big Ten. 10-3 Nebraska is third. Nebraska does not play either Oregon or UCLA in regular season, though is 0-1 vs UCLA from an early non-conference tournament in mid-February. After hosting UCLA, the Ducks will travel to Indiana (7-7), then host Michigan State (3-10). UCLA will travel to Michigan (8-4), then host Northwestern (9-3). Oregon's conference loss is at Washington, UCLA at Iowa.

The Kid Thinks he is in the Pros . . . My Bad, They All Are...
Reminder on the SEC's intraconference transfer rules: No SEC-to-SEC transfers in the spring portal, even for grad transfers. Nico can't go to another SEC school and gain immediate eligibility, and Tennessee can't go get their next starter from an SEC foe.

Nico Iameleava to Oregon?
"Tennessee might be interested in whoever is the No. 2 QB at Oregon after the Spring Game" Not directly tied to my comment here, but except in very adversarial relationships, I bet there is more communication between head coaches about potential players than we realize. Might Cristobal and Matt Wells (Tex Tech) had some conversation about Tyler Shough before the transfer, for example? If a kid wants to leave, help him find a spot? If a kid wants to arrive, check with his former head coach first? And, so on.

Nico Iameleava to Oregon?
Reportedly...if anything from the Internet is ever an accurate report.... both Notre Dame and USC have told him not interested, and Lanning called Heupel a few days ago. Imagine the scrutiny that will accompany any program that offers Nico a spot now that this publicity has surfaced. The theory is he was jealous of his current NIL in comparison to what a couple more recent portal transfers have received. Now, he may have to hope he can find a spot that will match Tennessee? That may be problematic based on the P.R. fallout.

Exposure, Not Dollars, Is Key
Exposure, which is exactly why UW pulled the plug on the Pac offer, and UO quickly followed. Maybe OSU & WSU will begin to understand? The Pac-12 needs to make a media rights decision. With upheaval looming, the answer is clear. – San Diego Union-Tribune ARCHIVE.PH archived 10 Apr 2025 22:02:47 UTC

Hawkeyes Will Be a Very Tough Away Game for the Ducks
I think one of the more interesting things about Big Ten stadiums is location based on their age. Many of the older stadiums were built on the edge of town, then the town grew up around them. As a result, many don't have nearby parking lots. So, nearby residents often rent their front lawns for parking and/or tailgaters. Walking through a neighborhood can be a cruise through a festive environment. You might invite a friend to a tailgater by saying, "we'll be at 542 Elm St" because they rent space in a front yard for a whole season, or multiple seasons. The homeowner charges rent, and uses part of the rent money for visitors access to water, electricity and use of a rented porta potty. It can be a lengthy walk from a parking location to the stadium. Kind of a fan version of the Ducks Mo Center march to victory. And, a real traffic jam after the game is over unless there is a post-game tailgater.
