  1. You're making my argument for me in paragraphs 2 & 3. He hates recruiting, he isn't good at it, he doesn't have to recruit in the pros. As Henry Ford and others have said, surround yourself with great leaders and manage the leaders! I think Moore can be really good OC in the right situation. Find a DC Chip could let do their thing and stay out of the way. Remember Pete SUCKED in NE but figured something out in college and has done pretty good in the pros the second time around. I get your thoughts though. I just think Chip could be fun in LA if he doesn't run his offense.
  2. Just having fun with this. Curious what some of your thoughts might be? Maybe this is a good time to look into going back to the NFL I didn't think it was a good idea when he left the Ducks and went to Philly years ago. I thought it would take about 2 years for NFL defenses to figure out his offense and be too fast for him to succeed. I think this might be a good time for him to have a Pete Carrol approach to coaching. Keep Moore, hire a top DC and just manage(if he can) the game. He's already in LA, he hates recruiting from what everyone says, and won't get any better results in the B1G. I'd certainly consider it if I were him.
  3. This makes me sick to my stomach (keeping it clean) to say but watching the way the fuskies have played this year is a recipe for winning for a national championship. Hear me out. An NFL QB throwing to at least three NFL receivers you can go to any time. Ducks had 2 (maybe 3-Tez or Terrance). Tez and Terrance are very good but not Odunze, Polk and Macmillan great. Yes Georgia hasn't had great QBs but they perform very good with great talent around them You mentioned depth. Ducks don't have that PROVEN depth yet. Every time Dub needed a play in the PAC championship, they went opposite Jackson with those receivers for whatever they wanted. I think Manning was a 5* out of high school who just hasn't put it together imo. I could've been smart enough to do that. Back to the * rating again. Sometimes they just don't develop and deliver. I'll stop with this last (but not last) point. Pulling out sloppy games you don't deserve to win. The ducks almost did it in the PAC championship but couldn't finish it. Obviously the fuskies did all year. Like it was mentioned, it's a fine line to get in with 4. Chances are definitely better with 12 teams but you still have to get past sloppy play or sloppy games and get some major breaks. Alabama getting in when they absolutely should've lost to Auburn is one of those breaks. Just a few examples of probably many more is what makes Kirby and Saben legends in this day of college football. Please don't hate me but if the fuskies are healthy, they probably win IMHO.
  4. Watching NDSU almost beat Montana was a fun weekend watch for me. FCS is always fun this time of year. Seeing games in small stadiums in North and South Dakota and Montana where it's cold and snowy is my kind of football! Wish I was smart enough to pursue going to school and playing in those types of places in my playing days 100 years ago. Obviously, I still haven't got playing out of my system!
  5. That would be the most disastrous decision the bolts could ever make! As a faithful fan of the Patriots for almost 50 years and following the bolts since my SD days, Belichik would be an absolute bust unless he brought in TB12 as a coach. That ain't gonna happen. This thought would just add to the epic failures Spanos has accomplished as one of the professional sports most incompetent owners. Urban makes more sense than Belichik and that certainly isn't an endorsement for Urban.
  6. Class act! Doubt he's even considered NFL material if he stayed at Minnesota? Maybe this is payback for his appreciation to Coach Lanning!
  7. It isn't all bad, I'm guessing TT received a pretty amazing education along the way. I think us fans lose sight it's football first. If that's the case, I think DL and staff haven't seen enough to allow TT take over the starting QB job which means he's obviously not NFL ready. If it isn't about football, he's going to get a job that will probably be very lucrative and long standing with the help of Oregon and last longer than a career in the NFL. He can either stick around and fight or move on. There's still nothing wrong with fighting for something you want is there?
  8. And a great ambassador for all things Oregon football. Well earned, well deserved JPJ!
  9. Totally agree! Also agree with Solar. It sounded to me like he started recently. I guess that's why I brought it up. I think we're in for a fun ride for many many years!! Go Ducks!!
  10. Holly Rowe mentioned Bo was seeing a sports psychologist in one of her in game reports. While I have no problem with people seeking to better themselves through whatever means, I got the impression he just started doing this and wonder if it might hampered his game? He just didn't seem "on" like he had most of the year. Maybe overthinking a little at the beginning? She then mentioned DL told him just play your game during her halftime report. He did just that and almost pulled it out without his "A' game. I guess I'm an if it ain't broke don't fix it kind of guy. Just something rambling around in my head the last few days. Maybe someone why smarter than me can shed some light.
  11. Haven't read all the comments so I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned. Having a top NFL QB throwing to three NFL type receivers and a running back able to pick up blitzes and running hard is a pretty tough to overcome. Remember McMillan wasn't at full strength in Seattle. Jackson was fine but cb by committee on the other side was just plain scary! Just the way college football is. If you have to go 3 and 4 deep from your 1st teamer is not a healthy recipe for a win. Dub skill players were more superior than Ducks D imp. Keeping the offense off the field for 10 minutes of playing time to begin the game didn't help either. Deboer and staff were diabolical making the offense sit that long. You know they were chomping at the bit to get going and just couldn't.
  12. 45-18 Ducks 2 TOs 5 Sacks 390 I really hope Ducks are capable of shutting down the passing attack with I think a depleted CB room. My only concern. I have more faith in this Ducks team top to bottom though. We'll see!!
  13. Makes me wonder why the sharps don't pick the the final 4(or 12 next year)? Seems like the best scenario to be more partial than a committee? Probably takes TCU out of championship last year.
  14. Hayward and Smithriver...completely agree! Deboer is always so poised and aware of saying and doing "the right thing at the right time.". Certainly didn't learn that from Neuheisel! It'll certainly be a battle of the minds Friday night! Deboer knows how the beat DL. hopefully DL learns how to beat Deboer Friday night.
  15. Anyone else nervous about the refs on Friday and in Vegas? A lot of money on Oregon and could be some weird calls." CLASSIC!! Thanks for sharing!
  16. Just curious what people might be reading from the fuskies faithful: We deserve to go to the CFP because A B or C. I'm pretty sure there are plenty uncomfortable...let's start making our case or make excuses ahead of the Fridays game to cover our bases in case we lose comments. They seem to be pretty good at that sort of thing.
  17. When I posted about Caleb the other day, it was more about the person fitting (or not fitting) into the DL culture, not so much about whether I wanted him to replace one of our current or future QBs. I think the best thing all our current QBs have outside of Stein, Lanning, etc. is Bo in the QB room. I think Bo is a young, may I be so bold to say TB12 with more desire to teach as much as chew on someone if they deserve it. I get the impression he's a big brother to all the current QBs and they feel they can go to him for anything at anytime. I don't think Ty had that with Slick and Mario. Maybe it made him afraid to make a mistake. I think all the QBs know they have a lot of people who have their backs in the DL culture. Obviously Mario doesn't have Van Pelts back either. As others have said coaches will get the right QB but whoever gets the keys to the Maserati next year will be prepared and have the coaches full support. Will it be a B1G championship, I don't know, but 10-11 wins will certainly be doable.
  18. That was a pretty funny moment in the game. I was thinking, what the heck are DL, JPJ and the ref talking about? A Bull Durham moment for sure. Seemed like he gave them plenty of time!
  19. This makes perfect sense! It isn't that I don't think any of the QBs either in Eugene or one their way aren't good enough. I'm more curious how much better Caleb would be in Lanning and Steins system. I think he'd be scary as well without the Riley circus! I'm also thinking the rats (just a metaphor not a criticism of current Trojan players or recruits) fleeing the burning ship(or Trojan horse) is going to be massive this summer.
  20. Crazy to think Jonathon Smith would leave OSU but it makes sense nowadays. Really glad us Duck folk don't have to worry about any speculation for a long long time!!
  21. Cool stuff! I've always thought this would be a great game to attend! Now you've piqued my interest even more!!
  22. I agree with your thoughts on leadership. I'm curious if NFL scouts think the same right now. I'm thinking DL and Stein would change that perception of him. I think it would be fun to see. Seems like a good kid who needs more direction than Riley is apparently unable to provide!
