Saturday Bowls: Let's Discuss!
It looks like FSU made good on their threat not to show up to the Orange Bowl. In all seriousness, they would have been better served to not show up physically. Penn State putting up decent numbers against Ole Miss on offense...SEC defenses this year are blah.

Why Oregon Needs Their ‘A’ Game for Liberty U.
They had the 133rd strength of schedule out of 133 though. B1G talk shows on you tube are very dismissive of the line play of Liberty, but I'm not so sure they are right about the OL. I think the 17 points spread is about right. Both teams are basically full strength, and it's simply a matter of who shows up. As long as Oregon shows up, they will win.

Big-Boy Good News...
His HS film is crazy. He is literally a giant among peers. He is athletic for his size, but he is so big I don't think he could ever be effective as a tackle to defend against edge rushers. He will benefit from a S&C program that builds his ability to bend and build power for a strong base and cut the weight as he intends to do.

I Was WRONG About Jackson Shelstad...
Bizarre. I used to play against West Linn in basketball when they were 2A in the mid 90s. I just played basketball to stay in shape through the winter between football and track seasons. They were good though. I wasn't used to playing against teams that could consistently play above the rim, but they could. But the level they are at now is impressive.

Ruh-Roh! Poor Beavers, Buckeyes and Huskies?
If there is any defining characteristics for the B1G this year it is the lack of offense, but good defenses. Even Ohio State has a bad offense this year. Michigan may be the only team with a great offense. Dare I say it, the defining characteristic of the SEC this year is VERY average defenses and QB play (with exception of the Heisman winner). Missouri offense was unstoppable in SEC play this year and could barely do anything against OSU despite having 50 thousand chances. Jayden Daniels, astronomical numbers despite being average in the PAC12.

Arizona Clawing the Sooners in the Alamo Bowl
They are simply a good O-Line away from being a playoff team. Their O-Line was horrible. Like Venetian blinds pass blocking, and completely incapable of creating anything resembling a rushing lane.

Watching The Pinstripe Bowl
You neglected to mention Miami is about to lose to Rutgers.

Mike Farrell Sports, Is Oregon the Next Football Superpower?
At some point you have to believe that while Oregon coached were building the future of Oregon by focusing on recruiting, that Washington coaches were busy scheming how to kick our a** a second time. Maybe this is one of those adjustments DL is going to have to make. There are simply going to be times they have to tell the recruits "we love ya, but we need to focus on the game, so it will be radio silence for the big game week."

What If...the Huskies Make Oregon Look GOOD?
I would put a slight clarification on the ending: "Milroe was down!"

Updated and Admin Revised: Top Rated Recruiting Class: Who Cares?!
To the O.P. just look at the numbers: 4 players brought in from the portal, 9 left, and 25/26 recruits signed. If you compare this to last year, holy cow, next year we won't lose or gain anyone from the portal. That won't happen, but you get the idea. In defense of your emotions, I grew up a big Trailblazer fan, with Clyde, Jerome and some other staples. When free agency hit and rosters turned over every 3 years with trades, I lost interest in the NBA all together.

Ruh-Roh! Washington's Recruiting Class is WORSE than Vanderbilt's?
By the numbers it certainly appears that KD has a similar approach to Chip Kelly to be very particular about who he signs. One can argue that he has a strong bias towards the portal is the reason. As of now he only has 4 transfers to go with the 15 recruits. Perhaps he likes to take his time to sort through the portal and find the diamonds in the rough, but other people can grab diamonds while you're analyzing them. Whatever it is he is playing with fire from a talent acquisition perspective. Maybe he is banking on a lot of people sticking around for senior seasons.

Wowsa: Too Many Recruits Choosing Oregon Over USC? Trojans PANIC...
We're still living in their heads and we won't be paying rent anytime soon.

Oregon’s Move to Big Ten Helps to Keep Lanning
This. Most guys want to slay their own Dragon, not keep their boot on the neck of someone else's Dragon. If he wins a Natty at Oregon it will be his and nobody else could take that away from him. At Georgia he could end up being a Ryan Day, on the hot seat as soon as he loses to Bama or misses the final 4 of the playoffs.

Can Someone Explain Aaron Fentress?
I will say he's right about some of the position coaches. Taggart didn't recognize a good thing when he saw it.

Transfer Portal Ratings are Misguided
I noticed how Dillon Gabriel is rated out of the top 10 best portal transfer rankings, then saw Dante Moore in the top 3, then it dawned on me how much years of Eligibility remaining affects the ranking. I think this is misguided. Coaches don't primarily go into the portal for development prospects, the go to fill gaps with people that can start right away, which usually means they've already got a lot of experience and have fewer years of Eligibility remaining. And I think this weighing of eligibility also mis-values risk. Dante Moore could still be kind of a bust, never good enough to start for a national title contender, whereas Dillon Gabriel elevates you to a title contender with little doubt. Therefore I think portal transfers should be rated with no consideration of years of Eligibility and let each year take care of itself. What do you all think?

OMIGOSH! Lanning COULD Break the Recruiting Record!
Imagine 20+ 4/5* who were properly evaluated, rather than the Cristobal 2019 class that mostly flamed out.

Beavers Have the SECOND-BEST Recruiting Class in the Conference?
I read the title, first response was "wow! really? second response"wait, which conference is that? Final response " oh the PAC2" HaHaHa! I'm a little slow today. Holiday vacation can't come soon enough.

When I saw the title of this post I immediately knew what it was about. My mom always loved it. Thanks for spreading the word on it.

The NCAA Faces Reality from the Wall Street Journal
Because a degree has value, and making it part of the deal helps take care of the kids future whether they want to or not.

Anyone Else Weary Of TP Reports?
Here is my annual joke regarding the transfer portal: OMG! EVERYONE IS LEAVING AND NOBODY IS SIGNING UP! Is it time to panic? 😬 - Signed every college teams' fan Just gotta trust the process to play out in our favor like it has in the past with DL.

NCAA Proposes New Top-Tier Subdivision for Football
At some point meritocracy gives the existing B1G and SEC coat-tails rider programs the boot, to make room for Utah and other ACC and Big12 schools that are better.
-
NCAA Proposes New Top-Tier Subdivision for Football
If the NIL and student athlete agents structure the contracts to each other's satisfaction then there would be no issues. But with NIL signing families I'm doubtful these NIL contracts are consistently equitable.

NCAA Proposes New Top-Tier Subdivision for Football
It will conform to Title IX. I think this may be a non-starter. This is a dangerous period in college athletics.Thry is so much money flowing around that came from media deals that will not be worth as much in the future in a streaming paradigm, yet people are trying to set up a new framework that assumes the good time will continue. If that ends up being the case, ALL the changes occurring for conference realignment and program investments will blow up in their face and will be undone. I don't think we will settle on a long term via ble approach to college athletics for more than a decade.

And Oregon Receiver Kris Hutson Enters Transfer Portal
Huston portalled the right way. He stuck around on the team being a great teammate, even participating on the practice squad. During one of the receiver scores in the CG the receiver ran over to Huston first for a chest bump. He did all this while preserving a redshirt. Probably got his degree too. Now he can go somewhere else and ball out as a starter. Maybe he'll join up with DGU, his HS buddy that had fantastic chemistry on the field.

Holy Crap! BIG QB Transfer Rumor...
He was my top choice over Cam Ward. This is the type of individual we should be looking for in the portal. Experienced, high floor individuals. Let our HS recruits come in being judged by their ceiling. Let player evaluation and development take care of the rest.
