  1. In both cases I feel like Riley and Kelly made it clear that they were going to better jobs. Now, that is always the thought when a coach leaves. It's when you hear, "stepping stone". But these two schools were Oklahoma and Notre Dame. Bluebloods. OK got to the Playoffs, regularly, but then lost. Notre Dame wasn't competitive either. OK was headed to the SEC and nobody thinks they have a chance of winning there, Riley knew it, and went to USC, "the Sleeping Giant" So far, Kelly has not been as graceful as Riley in his new job, with his "accent accident" among other missteps. But LSU just won the championship and I think is closer to another one than is Notre Dame
  2. Many moves need to be made to deal with the NIL that just blew up with no prep time. Your idea of incentivizing is tried and true.
  3. And this is where a coach like Lanning and his staff are a huge plus for Oregon.
  4. MaiTaiDuck inspired me with this in another topic, I definitely see it as an "unintended consequence" of the NIL payments that some players are getting. We did start to see it before with players deciding to forego the team's Bowl Game, stating clearly, they were doing so in their own self interest. Now, I can't write here that I am bothered by a player's self interest guiding his actions when it's my SELF Interest that is bothered with his decision not to play. But, it's going to be player vs player in the huddle now. Millions of dollars to the QB? The linemen are only getting $50,000. Is the LT going to bust his butt to protect the millionaire? It used to be the players all played for the name on the front of the jersey, not the on the back. Well, we've seen that eroding for a long time, and it's even worse now.
  5. In another topic we're discussing how the Beavs will rebound from last year's disaster. In this topic, take a look at ONE of the 5 Stars that will be playing for Oregon next season! Kel’el Ware ups NBA stock, turns heads at McDonald’s All-American game DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Kel’el Ware did what players are supposed to do at the McDonald’s All-American game: Turn heads and impress scouts.
  6. I can't do anything but thank you for Jon, for thinking this out and presenting it to us. The Pac-12 is in a position now when changing for change sake is the only option. On the simplest level getting rid of the divisions should have been done long ago given the domination by the North.
  7. It was definitely a slap in the face to a school that is considered a blue blood, and the optics are awful for Oklahoma. As OK sloughs off to the SEC as part of a combo with Texas, Riley moves into a mansion in LA and is the "talk of the town" at USC.
  8. Great point. The year before last was great for the Beavs, and what we've come to expect for the Ducks. Last season was a disappointment for the Ducks, still 20 wins though. OSU goes 3-28, winless in 2022? This is a team in The Conference of Champions?
  9. So, it's great to hear about explosive plays that are largely about scheming, turnovers can be worked on. Lanning says quarterback and offensive development will take some time DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Lanning says the offense showed the ability to make explosion plays happen on Tuesday, but there were too many turnovers for...
  10. Let's hear some ideas for Season Tickets for 2022-23? "It Probably won't be as Bad as Last Year!" "When the Tough Got Going, They All Left" OSU Basketball "Forget the Madness"
  11. The one thing they could have said next season was that they'd have experience back, now that's out.
  12. My all time favorite Oregon WR, Jeff Maehl was certainly an intelligent player.
  13. There are also comments on other players, and new "perceptions" of Bo Nix. Oregon Football: Everything Dan Lanning said after Ducks’ 3rd practice DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Dan Lanning touched on expectations for early enrollees, and his early perception of the QB room after Tuesday’s practice.
  14. Great point, David. I agree that Oregon should do what's needed to stay competitive in this new environment. But I don't want to see Oregon going the route of just throwing $$$ at high school kids or Transfers.
  15. Methinks the owners would be all in for this rule to include the regular season, the longer the game the more commercial space to fill. But while I'd love for Justin to get his shot, I don't need extra minutes on top of the extra game that was added last season.
