10 Takes on “The Assault in Salt Lake”
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Some great Takes, Darren, I too am happy to be free to root against Ohio State, amidst the world coming down around me after the Utah game, the weight of "wanting" the Buckeyes to win was lifted. Now I am free to root, as usual, for Michigan. As for Cincy, just go away Bearcats! What is a Bearcat anyway? Yes, the absurdity of the variant properties of the OSU's and the reverberations of Oregon's action/reaction from contact will set the trajectory of the team. -
0 times, just like more than 90% of the teams, and Saban might not get there this season, it's incredibly hard to do.
-
I just don't know of a coach that Oregon would get if Mario wasn't here anymore, that fans would think, "Yeah, this is the Guy who will get us to the Playoffs every year". How many of them are there now, not named Nick Saban?

Justin leads Chargers to a Thrilling Come From Behind Win!

Since I saw my first Duck football game, 52 years ago I/ve wanted them to win the championship. Remember when The Ducks beat the Beavers and Jerry Allen could barely get out, "The Ducks are going to play for the National Championship!" That was a big deal, and then they did it again, and Jerry didn't have as much trouble spreading the news. This season, after it was proven that 1-time out of 10, Oregon will beat Ohio State, The talent discrepancy between the Buckeyes and the Ducks is greater than between Oregon and the other Pac-12 teams. Oregon was in contention for the CFP, but then they got blitzed by Utah, while Ohio State bulldozed over No. 7 Michigan State. Next time the Ducks play in the Championship Game, it again will be a Big Deal.

Good stuff with this and the rest of what you wrote. There's a lot of thinking involved with being a real fan, and not a fair weather or bandwagon type. The real fan has expectations based on evaluations he or she has made, which could differ from others, but are still valid. A fan can be sorely disappointed when the Ducks don't play well, especially when the mistakes are glaring, and repetitive. But they are disappointed because they care! These feelings are needed so the fan doesn't fall into the apathetic stage which is fatal to a program.

Playing Oregon State in Prime Time...
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That will depend on the Apple Cup on Friday. If the Cougs win, the Beavs are out. -
The Los Angeles Chargers saw it, even as some guy on ESPN said it would be a Huge mistake for any team to waste a high pick on him . But in this article from Bleacher Report by Brent Sobleski we see that Justin has surpassed expectations, Justin Herbert's SNF Gem shows why he's next to Join NFL's Elite Class of QB's

Did Beating Ohio State Hinder Oregon’s Progress?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nobody thought Oregon was going to beat Ohio State, then no KT, and Flowe, come on? But the Ducks won, and AB got Player of the Week, and the Ducks were No.4, and soon No.3/. Nobody expected that, I'm not sure that many other teams have had their ranking based on one single game as did this Oregon team? So, it certainly shifted the focus of the season, and it's hard to see where it will end now. -
That was mine, and if JS was suddenly the Ducks Head Coach, I'd feel good about the future. He definitely has the Beavers headed in the right direction. They haven't broken through in recruiting yet, but are attracting good players via the portal. They are playing better at home than on the road, we'll see about that on Saturday.

Leach was 4-4 against Oregon. Just saying.. He went 55-47 at WSU, In 2018, the Cougars could have won the North, but lost to Washington. So we want a coach that can't recruit, or win the big game?

Justin leads Chargers to a Thrilling Come From Behind Win!

Justin needed 119 yards for the record. He has 170 at halftime. -
Okay, Mullen's last shouldn't define him, but his big deal this season was a comeback win over Samford, Aranda, Campbell, these two, I could wlcome, and Patterson, get over the TCU comeback? But Justin has nowhere near the record as a HC that Mario has.
