That's the rub, I'm afraid. Cassel played a bit as a back-up at USC, but that in no way goes against your point. He stuck it out and ended up with an NFL career, different time. Now, and for Bennett, long range thinking isn't in play. The idea of, "the back-up QB is one play away" is foreign to most players now, and the transfer portal, makes it easy. if not tempting, to go somewhere else.

All Four Star Quarterbacks are not the same, Oregon knows that as well as anyone, turns out a 3 Star was pretty good. This article from wholeflockofducks.com looks at his strengths and weaknesses.

Don't you just love the 180 the pundits made?

It's amazing hearing the "Experts" now. I've yet to hear McShay say anything about Herbert's record setting, ROTY year, and I guess that's just as well. He, all of them actually, are not held accountable for gaffes they make, and are right back at it again next season, with Mock Draft after Mock Draft. -
Indeed. Back in the day, the polls actually did mean something. In football, with the advent of The Playoff, the polls are completely useless. They're pretty irrelevant in basketball; "Brackentologists" have more insight in to how teams are being considered than do the Poll voters. On a side note, because Arizona isn't competing in the tournament, OSU, by finishing in fifth place, gets to skip a first round game, and start on the second day.

These all-time Ducks have each been named POTW four times, of course it wasn't the Pac-12 when Rasmussen was playing for the Ducks, 1981-85. from NBC Sports Northwest.
-
They aren't in the Top 25, but FWIW the Bracketologists have noticed, ESPN Joe Lunardi has moved the Ducks from the dreaded 8/9 slot, 2nd game against a No. 1, to a 6, after beating the Beavers. A conference Tournament Championship could move them up even higher.

What I was able to discern is that he really didn't want the Oregon job. I'll go with him being better than Taggart, but since the Taggart mess got us Cristobal, I feel like it worked out. As far as why he bailed on Washington? Seems like burnout. Facing the inevitability of never winning the North again.

Not a lot o' love for the Lady Ducks, but how much do they deserve?

Ducks Back to Back Champs After Beating The Beavers 80-67

The Beavers beat the Ducks back in January, of course the Ducks were without, Duarte, Figueroa and Richardson, This time all three finished in double figures in a game the Ducks never trailed. -
Nailed it. Besides her immense talent, Sabrina was relentless, Ruthy had a mean streak, and so did Satou, no player wanted to have anything to do with any of them. Erin Boley, Jaz Shelley, Lydia Giomi...not a Mean anywhere, and the Fab Five weren't going to bring it.

UCSB tried to win, Then it was Oregon's turn: and another: and another: The Ducks would score two more in the top of the 10th for a 9-4 lead. UCSB gets a runner on, but the next batter goes down swinging.

I knew people who went to games for the beer, and that was back in the day when the interest in the games was higher than it seems to be now. Sleeping overnight outside to get in line for a ticket? Now, fans get their tickets on their phone. Aside from MKA not being conducive at all to a rowdy experience, there aren't any "deranged idiots" going to the games anymore. The attitude of players have changed and so has it for the fans. Cameron Indoor has notoriety because it's the home court for Duke, the most pretentious team in the history of collegiate sports. The playoff has deteriorated the college football season. and basketball is "March Madness" for many.
-
That seems very unlikely. There was no intention given to updating, "The Pit". "Rock'n the MKA" isn't going to happen. There were times, mainly during last season's Women's games with The Big 3, when MKA got pretty loud. But I don't think MKA will ever get the scoreboard shakin'
-
That's a great comparison. Of course Cameron at its best isn't close to Autzen's counterpart, Mac Court, "The Pit". Autzen has had additional seating and cosmetic changes, most notably removing the hump in the field, over the years, and they haven't dampened the environment. Just ask Lloyd Carr. I don't think seating should increase too much, unless it was for added cheaper seats. MKA is great, but it's more of a Performing Arts Center than the intimidating arena Mac Court was.

It's interesting that early in the season it seemed like Paopao was really working at being a pass first PG, often times I thought passing up a shot in favor of the "extra" pass. That could have been deferential, being a freshman, not really having the "Leader" gene. As the season moved on, she took more shots, and correspondingly, passing, team wide, became a problem, It was even worse because the competition got much tougher. A lot of improvement has come in the second season for players in every sport, so next season looks promising.

Trade Rumors: Mariota’s New Starting Job?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
. The biggest hang -up with Marcus now is his contract with the Raiders, not so much the basic salary, but apparently their are incentives included that could push his salary to about $20 million a year. If the Raiders cut him, he's free to negotiate a deal with a new team. But it seems the Raiders want to hold on to him, possibly through the draft as trade bait. I'm not sure Marcus will make it to the Hall Of Fame, but a number of "serviceable" quarterbacks have played in, and won Super Bowls, with the right team, I feel like Marcus could be one of them.
