Civil War Baseball in Hillsboro Postponed Due to Weather...
What? I thought the Beavers and Ducks loved the rain. 😅🤣😂

Oregon Lands SDSU Forward Pharoah Compton
I thought the same thing. Hope we can get some power four studs to fill out the roster.

A Look at the State of Talent Composition (4/11/26): Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia
Wow! Thanks for the in-depth research. This puts things in perspective. To think that our Ducks are mentioned in the same sentence as Ohio State and Georgia shows how far Oregon is committed to a winning tradition.

The Frozen 4
That was a very entertaining game to watch. Although I was pulling for our B1G conference Badgers to win, I was happy to see that Kyle Chyzowski scored the game-winning goal. For those who don't follow hockey, his name is familiar to Portland Winterhawk fans. He played five season in Portland, amassing 273 regular season and 56 playoff games. Congratulations to the Pioneers and Kyle.

Update: Mens Basketball is Down to Only ONE Scholarship Holdover
"Fortunately, we've got some people who want to see us get back to where we've been. And we've got to make those figures match and get guys we need". - Coach Dana Altman This is a promising start. Besides Stewart and Riley IV, the Ducks have Ariza, Harrison (basketball and football) and Seven Spurlock. According to ESPN, these are four **** players. The most sought after player is Tyran Stokes. He has narrowed his choices to Kansas, Kentucky and Oregon. I don't believe the Ducks can afford him unless they get into a bidding war.

Poor Pitching Leads to Loss to Nebraska, 10-8
Unfortunately, the Ducks 'Achilles Heel' is their pitching. Besides that, they have a solid team.

Poor Pitching Leads to Loss to Nebraska, 10-8
Why would Coach 'Was' keep Clarke in the game when he was being pummeled. He's got 23 pitchers on the roster. The way I read this is that he is not confident in his relievers. Not a good look.

Relief Pitching Chokes, then Comes Through in Ducks 7-6 Win over Nebraska
Just saw this...On April 7th, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (double AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) by a score of 12-7. The Fisher Cats scored 10 runs in the second inning with only one hit. Two Portland pitchers combined for 10 earned runs on eight walks, four wild pitches, two hit batters, one sacrifice fly and a single. And all those runs came after there were two outs in the inning. Baseball sure is a strange game at times.

What about Devon Pryer and JJ Frakes? Have they also hit the transfer portal?

A Deep Dive Into B1G Ten Basketball, Football and...Hockey!
Congratulations to No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines for their basketball championship. And to the Illinois Illini for reaching the final four. Quite the accomplishment. Looking ahead at the way-too-early rankings for the 2026-2027 basketball season, there are SEVEN B1G schools in the top 25. No. 1 Michigan No. 6 Michigan St. No. 8 Illinois No. 14 Purdue No. 17 USC No. 18 Nebraska No. 25 Iowa. Just looking at that will give Duck fans a sinking feeling for the upcoming basketball season. In the PAC, Oregon only had Arizona and UCLA to contend with. Understandingly, attendance has been down. For B1G games, Matthew Knight Arena attendance was roughly 55% capacity. A lot of lost revenue for the school. In contrast, only USC, Washington, Rutgers and Northwestern have smaller arenas than Oregon. Switching to football, even though the Ducks fill the stadium with standing room only patrons, (59,000 plus) its still small potatoes compared to the other schools. Only Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota and Northwestern have small stadiums. And finally hockey. Guess who the No. 1 seed is for the "Frozen Four?" The Michigan Wolverines! How about that. And the Wisconsin Badgers are also in the frozen four. The B1G is well represented in football, basketball and hockey. For any Duck fan who enjoys hockey, here is the schedule: Thursday April 9th 2pm ESPN2 No. 2 North Dakota Bisons vs. Wisconsin Badgers Thursday April 9th 5:30 pm ESPN2 No. 1 Michigan Wolverines vs. Denver Pioneers Saturday April 11th 2:30pm ESPN Championship All games played in Las Vegas

What Will a Revamped Competitive Basketball Roster Cost?
In the last decade, the PAC-12 conference de-emphasized basketball. The focus was on Olympic sports, softball and tennis. And who was the commissioner at this time?...Larry Scott. He ran the conference (into the ground) from 2009 through 2021. He was the chairman and CEO of the woman's tennis association. The university presidents made the wrong choice when they hired him. And now were paying the price.

What Will a Revamped Competitive Basketball Roster Cost?
Unless Oregon throws money to the basketball program like they do the football program, they will be small potatoes. But as the article states, even blue bloods like Kentucky, (22 million) doesn't guarantee a trip to the final four. Coaching, chemistry, an injury free season all play a part of it. Signing players outside the power four conferences and power four bench warmers isn't going to cut it. What's needed is two studs and three very good players for the starting five and a deep bench (four players) to take it to the next level.

Ducks Late Scoring Barrage Blasts San Diego 12-4!
The last game Ryan Featherstone pitched was on Wednesday, March 11th against the Xavier Musketeers. He only pitched 1.1 innings, giving up two hits and two runs. He had one wild pitch and struck out for batters. He threw 31 pitches.

Report: Shelstad to Portal
Next man up! Let the fallout begin.
-
Kwame Evans is Entering the Transfer Portal.
I hate to see him go, but don't blame him a bit for leaving. There isn't a single player on the team that I would worry about leaving, including Shelstad. How do we know his injured hand won't require surgery later on. I have no idea what Coach Altman is going to do, but the program needs a complete overhaul. Hope to hear some positive news coming out of Eugene.

Oregon's Next Opponent... The Northwestern Wildcats
Yes, the Ducks have the lower ERA
-
Oregon's Next Opponent... The Northwestern Wildcats
Here's a look at the Wildcats head baseball coach, Ben Greenspan. He was an assistant coach at Cal Poly for the 2022 season. He spent seven years as the assistant/associate coach for the Arizona State Sun Devils between 2015-2021. Under his guidance, ASU earned regional berths in 2015, 2016 2019 and 2021. After one year at Northwestern, the team improved from 10-40 (200%) to 18-34 (346%). In 2024, the Wildcats won nine non-conference road games and their fielding percentage improved from .967% (13th in the B1G) to .980% (1st in the B1G). Assistant coach Cody Jefferis attended the University of San Diego, where he played shortstop for the Toreros baseball team from 2018-2022. He was on the 2022 WCC all tournament team. He is a native from Valencia, California. Nine players on the Northwestern roster hail from California, so these guys are familiar with the West Coast. The Wildcats have only one player on their roster hitting above .300%, that's outfielder Jackson Freeman. His current stats are: .371%, 26 hits, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 7 runs batted in. Last year he hit two grand slam's, one against Illinois and the other against Maryland. Their pitching staff, up to this point, have been mediocre at best. Their team era is .680%, while our Duck pitchers are a remarkable .312%. But the games aren't won on paper. Their won on the field. As always...GO DUCKS!

Oregon Makes Big-Plays Late vs. Xavier to Win 6-3
Two close for comfort! Getting these young kids some game time experience during the mid week games will get them prepared for the stretch drive later on. Bring on the Hoosiers!

Big Ten Basketball Tournament Information
The fallout continues. The USC Trojans, depleted like Oregon with injuries, ended their season on an eight game losing streak. Is Coach Eric Musselman on the hot seat?

Big Ten Basketball Tournament Information
Justin Joyner is the new Oregon State basketball coach. His wife Tracy is the Oregon Ducks womens soccer coach.

Big Ten Basketball Tournament Information
As bad as the Ducks season was, look no further than former PAC-12 member Arizona State. They just got pummeled by Iowa State 91-42!!! And they only scored 16 first half points. Bobby Hurley is on his way out. Who's next?
-
Big Ten Basketball Tournament Information
A fitting end to a disastrous season. How do they score 12 points in the first half and 48 in the second half? Injuries aside, this years team has been a real head scratcher. Shooting 19/52 for 37% and 4/21 for 19% from three. Out rebounded 38-28. Time to flush it and move on. I believe Coach Altman will return but if not for gutting this roster and starting over, we'll witness the same. Will Shelstad and Evans Jr. return, or will a school with NIL lure them away. I believe Altman has one hand tied behind his back and is doing the best with what he's got. The Ducks attendance averaged 6,352 which is 51.4% of capacity. That has to change. But to put butts in the seats, you need a winning team. Difficult maybe but entirely possible. It's eight months until basketball starts again for our Ducks, I'm hoping for some good news to get this program turned around in the right direction.

Oregon, USC and Washington Not Ready For B1G Ten Basketball
When I first posted this article, I scratched the surface on the plight of the four west coast schools. Much to my surprise, Jon Wilner wrote an article on the same thing today, although he does a deep dive into the situation facing these schools. It's behind a paywall but well worth reading. I did my own 'deep dive' into the injuries that Oregon has had to deal with these past six seasons, naming the player, year and how many games were lost to injury. 2020-2021 N'Faly Dante 22 Will Richardson 12 2021-2022 Nate Bittle 13 Richardson 5 2022-2023 Jermaine Couisnard 17 Keeshawn Barthelemy 12 Bittle 8 Dante 5 2023-2024 Bittle 31 Jesse Zarzuela 31 Barthelemy 18 Dante 14 2024-2025 This is the only season the Ducks were healthy. Brandon Angel, T.J. Bamba, Barthelemy, Bittle, Kwame Evans Jr., Jackson Shelstad and Jadrian Tracey all played in 35 games. Supreme Cook played in 32 games and Ra'Heim Moss in 30. 2025-2026 Shelstad 19 Devon Pryor 15 Ege Demir 12 Bittle 7 The grand total for all the games missed. Bittle 59 Dante 41 Zarzuela 31 Barthelemy 30 Shelstad 19 Couisnard 17 Richardson 17 Pryor 15 Demir 12 With this many injuries, it doesn't matter if Coach Altman or any other coach could win games with a depleted lineup. They could squeak by with a couple of wins in the old PAC-12, but not a chance in the rugged B1G Ten.

Oregon, USC and Washington Not Ready For B1G Ten Basketball
The former PAC-12 schools just finished their second year in their respective conferences, ACC, B1G 10 and BIG 12. Based on conference games only during the last two years, here are the results. Only the Bruins had a respectable record. Bruins 26-14 Ducks 17-23 Trojans 14-26 Huskies 11-29 BIG 12 Just like in the PAC -12 , the Arizona Wildcats have thrived in their new conference. Wildcats 30-8 Sun Devils 11-27 Buffaloes 10-28 Utes 10-28 ACC Cardinal 20-18 Bears 15-23 Besides this forgetful season (5-15) Oregon posted identical conference records the past three years. 2022-2023 12-8 (PAC 12) 2023-2024 12-8 (PAC 12) 2024 -2025 12-8 (B1G 10)
